This route is no joke. It’s one of the hardest mile-for-mile routes around. The route utilizes flowy singletrack (15%), double track (15%), and beautiful gravel(30%) roads whenever possible. The approximately 40% paved roads that make up the rest of the route are a welcome reprieve that provide nice scenery and opportunities to gain some speed. The route is 99% rideable with only one 3/4-mile hike-a-bike early in the loop.
The group ride is a friendly, not a race. If you want to go as fast as you can, go for it. But there’s nothing for you at the end except first dibs on the hot tub and some of Ginni’s cooking… both of which are worth riding fast for. Plan for 4 days to ride the route at a strong, but enjoyable pace.
