Penang Bridge International Marathon
Ladies, gentlemen and distinguished guests,
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you this evening for joining us for the launching of the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2018.
The event, which is happening this November 25 at the Queensbay Mall car park, is one of the most anticipated marathon in the country which will bring countless local and international marathon enthusiasts to Penang with the aim of beating their best time.
Although we no longer host the Fun Run category this year, we are proud to announce that we have attracted more than 27,000 registrations for PBIM this year who have registered under three categories namely Full Marathon (42km), Half Marathon (21km) and 10km run.
The marathon has never failed to bring in a high number of sportsmen from diverse background who are here united by their common love for the sport. The event is a positive force to encourage healthy sportsmanship among people regardless of race or nationality, especially in Penang as we work towards enhancing the quality of life.
It is our intention to emphasise on delivering quality, instead of quantity in order to ensure a more competitive environment for the runners. This is in line with our effort to rebrand PBIM as an international marathon.
We also have a total of RM259,200 attractive cash prizes which will given away to the top 10 winners of each category.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors including Brooks, who has stepped forward as the official apparel for runners this year. We also extend our sincere appreciation to SEIKO the official timer, EMICO the official medal sponsor, 100 PLUS the official isotonic drink, Asia Green the venue sponsor and other notable sponsors.

1. Full Marathon category:
“Please take note that Finisher Tee and Finisher medal will only be given to runners who complete within the qualifying time of 7 hours”
2. Half Marathon category:
“Please take note that Finisher medal will only be given to runners who complete within the qualifying time of 3.45 hours”
3. 10KM Run category:
“Please take note that Finisher medal will only be given to runners who complete within the qualifying time of 2 hours”

RACE DAY INFORMATION
BAGGAGE COUNTER
The baggage counter will be opened from 10.30pm on 24 November till 10.00am on 25 November 2018.
ROAD CLOSURE
1.The Penang Bridge will be closed from 12.01midnight till 10.00am on 25 November 2018.
2.The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge (Second Bridge) will be operating as usual on
25 November 2018.
3.Ferry services will be available on 25 November from 12.01midnight to 6.00am at 40 minutes interval. After 6.00am, ferry services will be operating as usual. For details of ferry schedule, please refer to page 7.
4a. Lebuhraya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu, from the junction of Seagate traffic light to the junction of Jalan Ahmad Nor will be closed from 12.00midnight to 10.00am on 25 November for both directions. However, afer 5.00am, from the junction of Seagate traffic light to Bayan Baru roundabout, the road will be reopened to traffic for both directions.
b. The traffic at Lebuhraya Tun Dr.Lim Chong Eu from Batu Uban interchange to Jalan Ahmad Nor will be reopened after 7.00am.
c. After 9.00am, Lebuhraya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu will be reopened to traffic from Bayan Baru roundabout heading towards George Town.
5. Persiaran Bayan Indah in front of Queensbay Mall will be closed from 12.00midnight to 11.00am on 25 November 2018.
6. Queensbay Mall multi-storey car park is available via Bayan Baru roundabout up to maximum capacity only.
