DESCRIPTION:A challenging\, hilly route through the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Starting and finishing at Sparsholt College in Winchester\, the 2024 edition is one of the hardest sportives on our calendar and will combine the most challenging climbs that Hampshire has to offer. From Beacon Hill\, Watership Down\, and Windmill Hill to name a few there will be plenty of hills putting meaning behind the name! You’ll be treated to beautiful woodland\, stunning countryside\, quaint villages\, and of course\, amazing views from the tops of the climbs. But with those ups\, must comedowns! With over 4\,000ft of climb on the 100-mile course\, there is the same amount of descent for you to enjoy! \nWith a fully signed and marshaled course with feed stations along the route supporting you all the way\, there’s no reason why you should wait in ticking off one of the best sportives. Full mechanical support is available on the route and a medal\, drinks\, snacks\, and chipped timing await those who finish. It will\, once again\, be returning to Margam Park for what will be a special 20th edition in 2024 with lots of exciting surprises planned! \n\n\n\nLou Lusardi birthed the very first Dragon Ride in 2004\, with just 280 riders\, he was inspired by the popularity of Italian Gran Fondo’s in his home country. At the time there were only a handful of sportives in the UK and Lou saw an opportunity to bring this type of event to the Brecon Beacons. An insight that has proven correct and stood the test of time\, with thousands every year now slaying the gruelling Dragon Ride. \n\n\n\nCOURSE DETAILS\n\n\n\nFour incredible challenges\, which will you choose? \n\n\n\nFor 2021 we scoured the Brecon Beacons and our vault to redesign all 4 routes to recreate the routes in reverse for the first time in 12 years. Your feedback for these challenges in 2021\, 2022 & 2023 was excellent\, so for 2024 we will again be asking riders to take on one of these four epic challenges. There is an additional feed station at Sywell Village Hall for the XL and XXL\, where you can top up water bottles and grab a snack. The event has mechanical support.
