SUMMARY:Glentress Seven 2019 - MTB Endurance Event
DESCRIPTION:MTB Endurance Event 2019\nThe Glentress Seven is now Scotland’s most popular MTB endurance event – a great day’s riding and racing for everyone\, with the emphasis on great trails and a friendly\, fun atmosphere. \nThe 11km (approx.) course features some nice climbs\, fantastic singletrack\, great descents and a whole lot of fun – you can go as hard\, or easy\, as you like. The main descent is a total classic and not open for riding the rest of the year. Ride solo or in teams of two or three\, the most laps in seven hours wins. It’s a fun course – some people even say there seems to be more downhill than up! \nNew for this year – a limited number of camping spots for vans or tents will be available next to the parking field. There is also more camping and pods close by at the Glentress Forest Lodges\, these have access to toilets\, showers\, drying and kitchen facilities on site. \nA seven hour race – how it works\nThe aim\, to complete as many laps as you can in the seven hour limit. If you are riding in a team\, you ride in relay – there’s only one team member on the course at any one time. All timing is via an electronic card which is worn by the team member on course – when a rider crosses the lap finish line their time is recorded\, and they then pass the card onto the next team member and so on. The last chance to start a final lap will give enough time for one frantic effort for that final (winning?) lap. \nRiders can do as many laps as they want/can manage in the time. The transition/timing/ team change-over area is in the event village. The course is marked out all the way round and there are marshals at all key positions. \nRiders can go as hard or easy as they like\, and there’s always the lure of a nice cake and a good blether (and even a beer!) down at the event village. There’s also a cake and water station at the top of the course. \nThe race starts at 10am on Saturday 25 May. You must register beforehand to collect your race number\, timing chip and course information. Full details will be sent to entrants as a pdf download the week before the race. \nWhat you get:\nSeven hours of top riding with a fab bunch of people\nThe best\, most fun* endurance race course in the UK\nElectronic timing by SI systems\nGreat ‘Free Cake Shop’ feed station\, with the most delicious cakes**\nMiles of awesome singletrack\nEvent village with great food and drink\nThe best course medics available\nOn site tech support \n*we’re pretty sure about this \n**we’re totally certain about this! \nThis event is suitable for riders who are competent on blue and red grade trails. Any drop-offs are avoidable and technical sections are short and not too scary. The course is around 11km with around 380m of climbing each lap. \nThe Glentress Seven is held at Forest Enterprise Scotland’s Glentress trail centre. \nFAQ\nIs there minimum age requirements to enter the event?\nNo racers under 14 years old on the day of the event permitted. Racers under age of 16 must be signed on by their parent\, or other legal guardian. \nParental permission forms will be sent in advance with participant notes prior to event. SUMMARY:GEMS Kids Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The First annual GEMS Kids Triathlon will be held on Sunday\, June 9\, 2019. The event format will be pool swim\, on-campus bike course\, and on-campus run course. There will be four age groups from 6 to 14 years old. We will have participation awards\, T-shirts\, goody bags\, and age-group awards. \nThis is an opportunity for your young athlete to participate in an enjoyable life-experience through athletics. It is not structured as a highly competitive event. Rather\, we want it to encourage self-confidence\, good health\, and community spirit through participation. \nAs an event that is sanctioned by USATriathlon\, we are required to follow their rules. One of these rules governs age. This means our event is open to kids ages 6 to 14. However\, it is not quite that simple. USAT does not go by the age of the athlete on race day. Instead\, your triathlon age is your age as of 12/31 of the current year. \nFor our 2019 event\, this means that all kids will race at their age as of 12/31/19. For example\, if your child was born during October 2009\, they will be 10 on race day\, however\, they will actually be an 10 year-old triathlete for all of 2019. \nThis is not really that big of a deal once you understand it. However\, it does impact a few different groups of kids. \nFirst\, all kids born in 2013 are eligible to participate (assuming they can swim 25 yards safely; bike without training wheels; and run). For example\, we will have many kids who are actually 5 on race day. However\, they are 6 year-old triathletes because they will turn 6 before the end of the year. \nSecond\, kids born in 2004 are not eligible to participate. There will be some kids who are 14 on race day\, but they will turn 15 before the end of 2019.

SUMMARY:Woburn Abbey Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:One of the UK’s most loved triathlons\, famed for its iconic venue and unrivalled family experience. A weekend of sporting challenge\, family fun and charity fundraising\, the Woburn Abbey Triathlon has so far raised close to £2.5 million for its charity partners. \nEvent venue: Woburn Abbey\, Woburn Park\, Bedfordshire\, MK17 9WA \nJunior Triathlon \nAges 9 to 12 years – 100m Swim\, 3km Bike\, 1km Run \nAges 13 to 15 years – 300m Swim\, 6.8km Bike\, 2.5km Run \nAfter the success of this year’s Junior Triathlon\, tri for life hopes to inspire the next generation of triathletes and fundraisers to join us at Woburn Abbey. \nThe start for the Junior Triathlon will be in the large lake (unless otherwise informed)\, which is a short 20m walk from the transition. However\, we are unable to guarantee this and will update all participants nearer the event day following water treatment and testing. Parents can walk with children to the lake once they have exited transition. \nThe bike and run course are all on closed roads so there’s no worry about traffic. All participants are considered winners for taking part and will all receive a medal. \nScootathlon \n400m Scoot\, 400m Bike\, 150m Run \nThe scootathlon is a mini fun triathlon for children between the ages of 4 and 8 where they scoot\, bike and run. Boys will race with girls at the same time in various age categories. \nThe race begins in front of the Abbey with a 400m scoot (any scooter is suitable) then it’s into transition\, put down the scooter and pick up the bike and cycle the 400m lap. Then it’s back into transition for the last time\, leaving the bike next to the scooter and then out for the final 150m run to the finish gantry in front of the Abbey to collect your medal. \nScooting\, cycling and running will always be in an anti-clockwise direction and all three disciplines must be done wearing a helmet. The course is flat and takes place inside the Abbey grounds for the scoot\, bike and run. \nAbout the Organiser \nTri for Life was founded in 2007 as a registered charity with a simple ambition. Our aim was to provide a fantastic multisport event for participants and their families\, and raise money for charity. To date our vision has paid off\, with increasing demand for the Woburn Abbey Triathlon and\, most importantly\, contributing close to £2.5m for good causes up and down the country. \nThe Woburn Abbey Triathlon is a totally unique event\, set against the stunning backdrop of Woburn Abbey\, with people of all ages and abilities taking part and raising money for charity. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved so far with our fundraising. Any donation\, however big or small\, really has made a difference. Now in our 12th year\, our mission remains the same – to raise as much as possible for good causes. \ntri for life is the brain child of the late Harvey Selby who made it his mission to encourage others to get fit whilst raising money. He realised that although triathlons were one of the fastest growing sports\, an event didn’t exist that combined the triathlon challenge with fundraising. Tragically\, Harvey Selby was diagnosed with cancer in 2008\, and although he saw a video of the first event\, he was not well enough to attend. We will continue to fulfil Harvey’s legacy\, combining family fun\, health and fitness with supporting charities. \nOur partnership with Human Race\, the largest mass participation event organisers in the UK\, enables us to deliver a world class event. Their knowledge and expertise have helped us grow the Woburn Abbey Triathlon to become one of the top multi-sport events in the UK\, and a must-do in the triathlon calendar. \ntri for life is a registered charity (charity no. 1122677) and distributes all profits from its events to other charities.
