DESCRIPTION:EXPO 10K/5K is more than a race: It is Knoxville’s oldest and most beloved community running event. 2020 will mark the 43rd running of this annual event. The expo is truly a tradition. It is the only race that celebrates the family by having mother/son\, mother/daughter\, father/son\, father/daughter\, wife/husband\, and three generations categories. 10K/5K starts at 8:00\, kid’s mile starts at 7:30. \nPacket Pick up Information: Friday\, May 22nd 11-2\, Runner’s Market \nTeam Competition: Only the 10K is on Grand Prix Team Competition schedule. Please visit http://www.ktc.org for details. Teams of 4 or more may enter either event but must pre-register online. This option has been designed for those who want to be part of the great community event but feel 21.1km is too far. The 5km is ideally suited for walkers or the very young with their parents. Results will be available on the day from the BlueChip Timings and the WAMC website. Skateboards\, roller-skates/rollerblades or similar devices\, are strictly forbidden due to the risk of injury to participants. Be aware we may not have exclusive use of some of the shared paths.\nAll runners will assemble in the advised start area by foot and obey Police and Officials’ directions whilst awaiting the official start.\nTo ensure your safety and that of everyone else in the race\, the use of headphones or any musical device is strongly discouraged. Any use of headphones is a safety hazard since such use may compromise a participant’s ability to hear critical safety and/or directional instructions\, especially instructions that may arise in an emergency situation.\nThere are no prizes for running prams and we request all those pushing running prams not to be competitive\, start from the rear and enjoy the experience. Pushing through runners could lead to injuries.\nDehydration can be potentially lethal\, particularly if you overextend yourself in hot and/or humid conditions. However\, your body can still overheat even if climatic conditions are only moderate. Ensure you drink plenty of water throughout the day prior to the event and drink early in the event before you become thirsty. Stop to walk or at least slow down at drink stations to allow adequate rehydration. DO NOT compete if you have had diarrhoea within 48 hours prior to the event or are suffering from a viral infection or even feeling unwell.\nREMEMBER to also drink plenty of water after the event. If you feel distressed\, disorientated\, dizzy\, or excessively tired\, SLOW down or rest for a while. If you do not improve WITHDRAW.

DESCRIPTION:You’ll need to bring a head torch for this epic event in Woodbury. There’s something for the whole family with mixed and fun sections on the course and multiple races on offer. So lace up your running shoes and start the year right at the Battle of Woodbury Common 2021. \nHow to enter\nTickets available until Fri Jan 14 2022 \nWhat’s included: \n– Finisher’s medal\n– Chip timing\n– Fully marked course\, including lights\n– Feed station\n– Bottled water for finishers\n– Category prizes \nRoute description\nThe flat and varied routes will take in the lovely surroundings of Woodbury Common and Bicton College. Although runners may encounter some mud\, most of the courses will be run on well-drained\, sandy soil\, allowing runners to enjoy their running on flat and reliable surfaces. All the races will occur in the dark\, creating a wonderful and unique experience for all competitors. The courses will all be well marked with poles\, arrows and flashing lights. \nKids 1k and 2k \nBoth races will take part exclusively within the grounds of Bicton College. \n5k \nThe 5k route is new for 2022\, and although 3k of this race will take place on the tarmac\, it is on tranquil country lanes where there will be little to no traffic. The race will be a combination of these on-road sections and a few grand and varied off-road areas. \n10k \nThe 10k has the same start and finish as the 5k\, with the extra distance coming from a complete loop of Woodbury Common\, which includes a fun single track section. Running the circle of the Common in the dark will be a wonderful\, immersive experience for everyone taking part. \nHalf Marathon \nRunners taking on the Half Marathon will complete two loops of the great 10k course.
