SUMMARY:South Downs Trail Half Marathon & 10km\, QE Park Petersfield
DESCRIPTION:The South Downs Trail Half Marathon and accompanying 10K are two of the classic trail runs in the South of England. They both start and finish at QE Country Park and run out to join the South Downs Way on a network of Bridle Paths through beautiful downland and forested countryside.  In 2022 we introduced Canicross waves for the first time. They were a great success\, and they will be returning in 2023 with a Canicross wave starting before the main races and a separate Canicross prize list. \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon\n\n\n\nStarting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield\, the half marathon follows a route through the Country Park\, then across fields to the Village of Chalton before picking up the Sussex Border Path\, bringing you to the South Downs Way. The route then returns\, running west for 4 miles on the South Downs Way back through QE Park to the finish. \n\n\n\nWe are planning to have two wave starts for the half marathon in 2022 to prevent congestion at the stile after 3.5miles and to maintain social distancing before the start: \n\n\n\n\n9:55am       Canicross Wave\n\n\n\n10 am Half-Marathon wave 1\n\n\n\n10.10 am    Half-Marathon wave 2\n\n\n\n10.20 am    10Km\n\n\n\n\nThe half marathon field has wave starts to avoid congestion in the early part of the course\, where there are a couple of narrow sections on the route. The waves will be split on estimated finishing times\, with the faster runners starting first. SUMMARY:North Downs Half-Marathon & 10K
DESCRIPTION:Run for the first time in 2021; this wonderful trail half marathon and 10K showcases the best of Denbies vineyard as well as the surrounding Surrey Hills. It’s not an easy course\, but there are no easy routes up and down the North Downs Escarpment.  The run is practically around the paths of the Denbies estate before heading out to the Pilgrims way taking in views of the North Downs before running back via the North Downs way and through the vines to finish at Denbies. The 10K largely follows the first 3 miles and the last three miles of the half-marathon route. \n\n\n\nThis event is now DOG-FRIENDLY with a canicross-only wave\, medals for doggies that cross the finish line and a separate canicross prize category! SUMMARY:Bacchus Wine Half Marathon &10KM
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday 10th September 2023 \n\n\n\nSet in stunning surroundings of the North Downs\, Bacchus has rapidly become one of the must-do events on the UK running calendar.  Most of the field turns out in fancy dress\, and bands and other musical entertainment are around the course. Still\, the drinks stations on the route separate Bacchus from other running races and epitomizes the event’s spirit. \n\n\n\nYou will have the chance to sample six fabulous award-winning English wines at five drinks stations along the course (you visit one station twice\, going out and coming back) with food and soft drinks to accompany them. If you are running 10K\, you’ll visit two of the wine stations. More food\, drink\, and music are waiting for you at the finish at the post-race hog roast\, where the party carries on long into the evening. \n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, there will be no Marathon in 2023. As numbers in the full Marathon distance start to dwindle we felt we could no longer fully support the marathon runners without compromising the Half Marathon or 10K. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSTART WAVES \n\n\n\nThere will be eleven start waves\, the first seven for the Half Marathon runners starting at 9:30 am. Subsequent waves will be set off in 10-minute intervals. There will be three 10K start waves starting at 10:40 am. You will need to pre-select your wave to be sure of starting with your friends. The children’s fun run has one start wave at 11:05 am.  \n\n\n\n09:30am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n09:40am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n09:50am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:00am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:10am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:20am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS  \n\n\n\n10:30am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:40am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:50am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n11:00am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n11:05am                FUN RUN \n\n\n\nTOILETS \n\n\n\nFor 2023\, as well as ample toilets in the car park and behind the main building at the start/finish area\, we will have portable toilets on the route at two different locations. \n\n\n\nBAGGAGE \n\n\n\nA secure baggage area is behind the main marquee to the right of Denbies’ main building. You will be asked to approach the start by walking through the marquee and will therefore pass the baggage area on your way to the start. After finishing\, reverse your direction and pass the baggage again before entering the marquee\, which hosts the post-race hog roast.  \n\n\n\nMUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT \n\n\n\nThere will be bands or musical entertainment at each of the drinks stations and at other sections of the course. A DJ will also be playing at The Hog Roast in the finish area.  \n\n\n\nHEADPHONE POLICY \n\n\n\nAs we are not running on any public highways (although there is one road to cross in two places)\, we allow headphones to be used. Still\, it is your responsibility to make sure you listen to any instructions from marshals\, and you wear headphones entirely at your own risk.

SUMMARY:Farnborough Winter Half Marathon & 5K
DESCRIPTION:Entry for the 2024 Farnborough Winter Half Marathon will open on March 1. There is a limit of 2500 entries in the event. \n\n\n\nEntries sold out in November 2022 for 2023\, so enter early to guarantee your place in the field. \n\n\n\nIn 2023\, the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon once again took place on its traditional date at the end of January. After a brief sojourn as a summer Half in 2021 we really enjoy returning to a winter event permanently again. For those who remember the icy chill conditions of the inaugural event in 2017 or the snow of 2018\, the weather in 2023 was just as cold! There were some phenomenal times\, at the front and all the way down the field: there were four runners (in 2022) under 65 minutes – all inside the old course record – and nearly 200 inside 90 minutes. This year’s race was no different with more extremely fast times across the board! \n\n\n\nFarnborough is generally the first major half marathon of the season so the weather will always be a roll of the dice in January\, but now we know just how fast the route is\, we expect it to be even more popular than usual. The 2024 race is confirmed as a qualifying race for the England Athletics Masters Programme\, giving Masters Athletes an opportunity to earn their England Age Group Masters vest. See here for more details. \n\n\n\nFor those of you not familiar with the route\, it is a fast\, largely flat\, traffic-free course\, starting and finishing at the historic Airship Hangar adjacent to Farnborough Airport. It is the same route as the previous three editions\, taking in a delightful semi-rural circuit which broadly circles Farnborough airport in an anti-clockwise direction. \n\n\n\nFrom its inception in 2017\, the event has been very popular with local runners and those from further afield looking for an early race to test their winter fitness. The main race is limited to 2500 runners and generally sells out early so don’t delay if you are thinking of running. Entries will be closed when we have reached our limit. Since it helps with our planning we incentivize you to enter early: \n\n\n\nSuper Early Bird \n\n\n\nFirst 500 entries (or up to May 31\, 2023\, at the latest) UKA Affiliated £28 Non-Affiliated £30 \n\n\n\nEarly Bird  \n\n\n\nNext 1000 entries (or up to September 30\, 2023\, at the latest) UKA Affiliated £33 Non-Affiliated £35 \n\n\n\nStandard Entry \n\n\n\nUntil the event reaches its limit of 2500 entries UKA Affiliated £38 Non Affiliated £40 \n\n\n\nAs in 2024\, the event will also incorporate a 5K\, which uses part of the same route\, starting 20 minutes after the half marathon. That in turn is followed by a children’s run\, a free-to-enter 800m Fun Run on an out-and-back section of the first part of the half marathon course.

SUMMARY:FROZEN LAKE RUN\, MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:The Frozen Lake Marathon and Half Marathon is a unique running event\, it’s the only one we know about that is run entirely on water. Fortunately\, the waters of the Tisela Fjord in Norway at the end of March are frozen\, so it’s less challenging than it could be. But it’s still a challenge. Running on snow and ice is a skill in itself but one that you can quickly master. \nIt’s one lap of the 21.1k course for the half-marathon or twice around if you are running the full marathon. The Icebug Frozen Lake Marathon is limited to 500 runners of all abilities. Once you’ve mastered ice running you should be able to cover the distance quickly because this is the flattest race you’ll ever run and an experience you’ll never forget. \nTisela Fjord Jorden is located 819 meters above sea level in the Norwegian municipalities of Gol and Hemsedal\, which is 200K north of Oslo. \nFor the most part\, the ice on the lake is about 80 cm thick – with a carrying capacity of up to 30 tons. The course is plotted by a support team of ice experts who monitor the lake closely in the days leading up to the event and throughout the race. For maximum safety\, the final course is laid out just days before the race starts. Among other things\, the lake is used for testing vehicle tires\, emergency vehicles\, and drivers who want to test their skills in icy conditions\, so it’s not going to struggle to support the weight of 500 runners! \nTransport from Oslo \nWe have a dedicated bus transfer that will take you from Oslo airport to the hotel Oset\, the race HQ and your base throughout your four-night stay in Norway

SUMMARY:Reading Half Marathon – 14th April 2024
DESCRIPTION:The first ever Reading Half Marathon was organised and run in 1983 when the start and finish venue was Reading University at White Knights Park. There were 5\,000 runners and it was won by a 21-year-old local University student\, Mark Curzons in a time of 67.45. \n\n\n\nIn 2003 Sweatshop took over the organisation of the Reading Half Marathon. Sweatshop’s aim was to make the event all about the runner and ultimately create an experience that is worthy of this prestigious Half Marathon. Sweatshop made numerous changes to the course over the duration of their fifteenth-year organisational span which resulted in a fast route and an amazing finish in the magnificent Madejski Stadium. \n\n\n\n2018 marked a new chapter in the Reading Half Marathon as new organisers Goldline Events took to the helm that summer. With the aim of making the race even bigger and better\, we promised to not only continue the great work Sweatshop did but to enhance each and every runner’s experience. \n\n\n\nThe Reading Half Marathon not only takes in the highlights of the centre of Reading where you will experience huge crowd support but also still passes through the beautiful grounds of the University campus. The race culminates in a finish rarely found outside an Olympic stadium with over 15\,000 people cheering you into the stadium and over the finish line. \n\n\n\nSo whether you run for fun\, run to stay fit\, run for a club\, or run professionally the Reading Half Marathon has the organisational capability\, friendliness and reputation that are all second to none. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\n\n\n\nSUNDAY\, 14TH APRIL 2024\n\n\n\nReading\, United Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n\nUKA AFFILIATED CLUB MEMBER (AAA – MEDAL ONLY)- £45.00\n\n\n\nUKA AFFILIATED CLUB MEMBER (AAA – MEDAL\, GOODY BAG & FINISHER T-SHIRT)- £50.00\n\n\n\nNON – AAA (MEDAL ONLY)- £47.00\n\n\n\nNON-AAA (MEDAL\, GOODY BAG & FINISHER T-SHIRT)- £52.00

SUMMARY:TrailFest - Cannock Chase Forest - Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, June 22\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  8:30 PM\n\n\n\nCannock Chase Forest\, WS15 2UAEnglandUnited Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nCannock Chase is in Staffordshire (WS15 2US). It is managed by Forestry England. \n\n\n\nCompetitor parking will be at the Tackeroo site (here on What 3 Words) and free. Spectators will need to park locally in the many car parks close to the start line. \n\n\n\nThe nearest train stations Rugeley Trent Valley and Rugeley Town are both approximately 2 miles away \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ TRail Running Association license there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. It will also (hopefully!) be warm and as such unsuitable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nIt’s pretty spectacular… and hilly! The route starts at the rifle range cadet hut and goes on a tour of fire roads and tighter single track routes around Cannock Chase. With no road crossings you can just put your head down and enjoy the amazing hills. \n\n\n\nEach route is tough. The half marathon consists of a 3 mile loop followed by 1x 10mile loop with over 1500ft of elevation. Punchy!! There are steep up and down hill sections on loose stones. It’s not scrambling and for experienced trail runners it’ll be nothing of great note. However\, for any “tarmac lovers” it might seem a little crazy! It is rewarding though\, I promise! The views are spectacular and the escapism is very real! \n\n\n\nThe route will be fully marked\, although having the route with you is very strongly advised. \n\n\n\nThe main elements of all the routes can be seen in the video. The forest is a living breathing habitat and as such things change\, species need to be protected and pathways rerouted sometimes. We will be based from the Tackeroo campsite and use the block of woodland opposite but this potentially could be changed if it is deemed necessary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\nBefore 19/05/2024 £30 \n\n\n\nAfter 19/05/2024 £35 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I have a pacer?\n\n\n\nThe short answer is no. \n\n\n\nPacers are generally only involved in longer ultras or when you’re running through the night. If you’ve got a friend or loved one who runs or walks with you for 100m as they pass you a jaffa cake\, no big deal. Want to run across the finish with your 3 year old you’ve made wait all day for you? Not a problem (we aren’t horrid!). Want to run back 200m and help your mate get to the finish inside the cut off after you’ve completed your run? Hero. If your running buddy happens to turn up unannounced and runs with your for 10 minutes – that’s not ok. Pacing doesn’t have to be pre-planned to be against the rules and ethos. \n\n\n\nWe would hope everyone is sensible enough to understand what pacing is. It’s not just about setting a running pace but giving someone a motivational lift too. No pacing but please get family and friends to support you loudly and proudly! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan my friends and family spectate?\n\n\n\nYes please!! \n\n\n\nHaving friends and family add atmosphere to the day is brilliant not only for you but for others in the events too. All we ask is they respect the event\, don’t block pathways and stay clear of the immediate aid station and HQ areas. There are miles of route to be on so there is no need to be in those areas. \n\n\n\nIf you’re worried what they’ll be able to get up to while you run.. We’ll have a coffee van with us and if they drive 1 mile down the road to Birches Valley there is a large Forestry England visitor centre with Go – Ape\, Grounds Cafe and amazing cycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMy training hasn’t gone to plan and I want to withdraw\n\n\n\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawl policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are more than fair and as such they will be adhered to. \n\n\n\nAre there cut offs?\n\n\n\nSort of. \n\n\n\n11 1/2 hours for the half marathon. \n\n\n\nThat is roughly 53 minute miles\, 1.2mph. That is obviously massive but consider the course\, time of year and terrain. The cut off is there to ensure we’re off-site before dark. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm these details on emails sent out in the last 4 weeks before the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I change distance after I’ve entered?\n\n\n\nYes. If you want to enter a longer event you will need to pay the difference in entry fee\, if you want to do the 10K there will be no refund of the difference. If you let me know more than 3 weeks before the event you’re bib will be changed to the corresponding event too. However\, if the bibs have been ordered then you’ll have to run with the “wrong” colour bib on. \n\n\n\nYou cannot change distance once the event starts as the routes are different. You can change distance on the day but this must be before the event starts. \n\n\n\nIf you need to clarify this please contact me directly. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nSort of! We’ve held a 50k (and 50 mile) event at Cannock Chase Forest since 2021 along with many 6 hour challenge and 10K night events in the forest. This is the first time we are holding a half marathon event here however. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up to this event you can select to have no finish line swag and instead we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe gpx of the route can be found here or by clicking the map at the bottom of this page. \n\n\n\nThe route may have to be changed\, Cannock Chase Forest is an active forest after all\, but this will be communicated with as much notice as possible. Recces of routes is always advisable but there is zero expectation of this. The route will be FULLY marked. We are often applauded for our marking\, there will be lots of it. \n\n\n\nThe dream for myself as an organiser is you have the gpx on your watch/phone for emergencies but you never have to use it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early season 50 miler in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K TrailFest is for you! \n\n\n\nWe’ve got 5 distances for you to chose from – 10K\, half marathon\, marathon\, 50k and 50 miles. Each distance has it’s own event page for the event specifics but most of the information applies to all of them and is listed here. \n\n\n\nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates we’ve got the perfect distance for you.

The charitable organisation Greenways and Cycleroutes has been behind reinvigorating this section of the Wye Valley Railway with a new lease of life; removing the old track\, refurbishing and lighting the 1.1km long Tidenham Tunnel and resurfacing a large portion of the route with a mix of compact stone path and tarmac. The Wye Valley Greenway is a shared-use path\, to be used and enjoyed by cyclists\, walkers and runners. \n\n\n\nThe original railway ran from Chepstow to Monmouth. The last passenger train ran in 1959\, but trains from nearby quarries only finally stopped in 1990. \n\n\n\nThe race starts at Wyedean School and heads along the rail path towards Tintern. Tidenham tunnel is 3km into the race and is itself over 1km long. There are great views along the Wye Valley as the two routes head to their turn-around points before retracing their steps back to the finish line at the station. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to visit the tunnel and Wye Valley Greenway please take a look at the visitors information page on the Wye Valley Greenway website\, which includes info on opening times and access points. \n\n\n\nPrizes\n\n\n\nAll our finishers receive a top of the range custom medal as well as a buffet of fresh fruit and other tasty treats. We also recognise a few of the speedy runners on the following basis. \n\n\n\nPrize Categories \n\n\n\n\nTop 3 male and top 3 female\n\n\n\nFirst U20 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 20-39 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 40-49 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 50-59 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 60-69 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 70+ male and female\n\n\n\n\nThe final number of prizes awarded is determined by the number of finishers for each gender in a given race distance. If there are more than 100 finishers then the full range of awards are made as shown above. If there are between 50-100 finishers then the top 3 finishers overall will be awarded a prize. If there are less than 50 then only the winner will be awarded a prize. We do not have any winner’s prizes for any of the children’s events as would like to keep this participation focused. \n\n\n\nThere is no on-the-day prize giving because of the multi-wave\, multi-start time format of the events. Prize winners will be contacted midweek via email. \n\n\n\nNotes\n\n\n\nThere is a 3hr cut off for marathon runners to start lap 2 of the marathon. Please note the event is not open to people who would like to walk the event purely\, but if you need to do a mix of running/jogging/walking to complete your distance\, then we are very happy with that. \n\n\n\nRunners with buggies are very welcome for the 6km and 10km. The Half Marathon and Marathon routes are not suitable for buggies. The terrain is a mix of the compact stone path\, road\, forest path and tarmac for the 6km\, the 10km has some more uneven sections\, which we would be more suited to a specific off-road running buggy\, and you may need to walk over these short sections. We would ask you to start at the back of your wave when we move to wave starts. Unfortunately\, none of the events are suitable for canicross. \n\n\n\nThere are great group discount rates for groups of 10 or more runners taking part in races of any distance on the same date. 10-19 runners save 15%\, 20-49 runners save 20%\, 50+ runners save 25%. All bookings must be made in advance of race day to qualify for the discounted rate. We ask all groups to be registered at least four weeks in advance of the race date to we have the opportunity to top up our medal order if necessary.
