SUMMARY:South Downs Trail Half Marathon & 10km\, QE Park Petersfield
DESCRIPTION:The South Downs Trail Half Marathon and accompanying 10K are two of the classic trail runs in the South of England. They both start and finish at QE Country Park and run out to join the South Downs Way on a network of Bridle Paths through beautiful downland and forested countryside.  In 2022 we introduced Canicross waves for the first time. They were a great success\, and they will be returning in 2023 with a Canicross wave starting before the main races and a separate Canicross prize list. \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon\n\n\n\nStarting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield\, the half marathon follows a route through the Country Park\, then across fields to the Village of Chalton before picking up the Sussex Border Path\, bringing you to the South Downs Way. The route then returns\, running west for 4 miles on the South Downs Way back through QE Park to the finish. \n\n\n\nWe are planning to have two wave starts for the half marathon in 2022 to prevent congestion at the stile after 3.5miles and to maintain social distancing before the start: \n\n\n\n\n9:55am       Canicross Wave\n\n\n\n10 am         Half-Marathon wave 1\n\n\n\n10.10 am    Half-Marathon wave 2\n\n\n\n10.20 am    10Km\n\n\n\n\nThe half marathon field has wave starts to avoid congestion in the early part of the course\, where there are a couple of narrow sections on the route. The waves will be split on estimated finishing times\, with the faster runners starting first. DESCRIPTION:Dorney Lake Christmas Half Marathon\nSet at the spectacular\, flat\, and smooth-surfaced Dorney Lake near Windsor\, this Christmas Half Marathon event takes you around the perimeter of the iconic water. \nThe legendary Eton Dorney – as Dorney Lake was known during London 2012 – held 30 events throughout the Olympics\, with Team GB taking a total of 12 medals. Soak up the atmosphere and invoke their heroics to inspire you to a new PB! \nThe Dorney Lake course is nestled amongst 450 acres of glorious parkland – including an Arboretum and Nature Conservation area – whilst being just a few miles from Windsor and a short drive from Heathrow airport and West London. \nEvent merchandise is available for purchase during registration for delivery by the following weekend when ordered by Sunday. \nAll of our events are organised following government and governing body COVID-19 guidance. We recommend participants familiarise themselves with the information therein\, specifically sections­­ 5 (Cycling)\, 6 (Running) & 7 (Transition)\, for details on equipment and their expected conduct during the event. Entry includes day membership for non-BTF members\, which will be provided on the event day. \nBib Numbers \nBib numbers (and bike stickers where applicable) are available for collection at the event only\, participants should not expect to receive anything by mail. \nResults \nAll finishers will receive a medal on completing their event and\, subject to a competitive field of participants\, prizes may be available for the top three places overall – and the top place in each of the veteran categories (V40/V50/V60/V70) – for both females and males at each distance. Although runners may encounter some mud\, most of the courses will be run on well-drained\, sandy soil\, allowing runners to enjoy their running on flat and reliable surfaces. All the races will occur in the dark\, creating a wonderful and unique experience for all competitors. The courses will all be well marked with poles\, arrows and flashing lights. \nKids 1k and 2k \nBoth races will take part exclusively within the grounds of Bicton College. \n5k \nThe 5k route is new for 2022\, and although 3k of this race will take place on the tarmac\, it is on tranquil country lanes where there will be little to no traffic. The race will be a combination of these on-road sections and a few grand and varied off-road areas. \n10k \nThe 10k has the same start and finish as the 5k\, with the extra distance coming from a complete loop of Woodbury Common\, which includes a fun single track section.
