SUMMARY:MK24- Midsummer Run 'The return of the Towel'
DESCRIPTION:We’re back for a second year following the huge and fantastic debut of the MK24 at Willen Lake\, Milton Keynes in 2019. It’s going to be bigger and better so sign up now to avoid disappointment. \nThe route follows the Midsummer Ley Line in a number of places and includes many of the key icons of Milton Keynes along the way. \n“OH MY GOODNESS I CAN’T RUN FOR 24 HOURS” \nIt’s not like that. Our motto is “Run it Your Way” and that’s exactly what you can do. Take a break between laps to soak up the event village atmosphere or have a snooze. Its up to you. \nSome I guess will want to run as much as possible\, others in a team of 2-6\, but the aim is to run as much or as little as you like. \nFor example\, each lap consists of 6.55 miles (1/4 Marathon) so if you ever wanted to run a half or full marathon\, all you need to do is complete 2 or 4 laps over the 24-hour period. Or go further and complete 5 laps or more (UKA rules allow over 20s only) for an Ultra Marathon. You can do it in a team\, or as a solo returning to complete another lap when you’re ready. \nIf you only want to do just the one lap\, no problem\, we are all inclusive and everyone who enters receives the bespoke medal for 2020 plus our iconic and much sought after embroidered hand Towel plus\, our now famous distance pin badges for completing 13.1 miles\, 26.2 miles or the Ultra \nI am pleased to announce that we are now inviting juniors between 10 and 18 years to join us at the MK24 ‘Midsummer Run’ in 2020. Juniors will not be permitted to run the entire course but run half laps of approximately 5km. By completing two half laps over the 24 hours\, they will be eligible for the fantastic MK24 medal plus the Iconic embroidered hand towel. We will organise two special group starts at 7pm on Saturday and 4am on Sunday to witness the Sunrise from Beacon Hill. So why not camp out overnight and book a pitch in the campsite and enjoy the atmosphere of the outdoor games zone and if things go to plan\, the outdoor cinema on Saturday evening. We insist that the young people are supervised whilst on site but not necessarily on the run as I guess most of them run faster than us adults. If you wish to join in the fun with your children\, then why not enter too. \nNEW FOR 2020 \nA brand new specially designed bespoke medal\, yet to be unveiled.\nA fourth pin badge\, the ‘Double Marathon’ for those who complete 8 laps or more\nSpecial organised group starts\, including ‘The Start’\, ‘The Sunset’\, ”The Midnight Glow Stick!’\, ‘The Breakfast!’\, ‘The last chance’ and of course the popular ‘Sunrise’ ….. to name but a few.\nEntertainment with live music on Saturday evening followed hopefully by an open-air cinema.\nOutdoor games zone including Rounders\, Boules and more.\nSlightly altered route with bigger and better signage.\nMK24 merchandise for sale from the club shop coming soon.\nCamping will again be available on site\, but pitches will be limited so book your pitch now. Why not enter with your running pals as a team and enjoy camping out under the stars whilst you take it in turns running a lap. \n  \n \nOur partners Freedom Leisure have again this year promised to make their facilities available FREE of charge including the swimming pool\, sauna and showers\, for all participants. Portable Toilets will be available on site\, with other public toilets nearby courtesy of Willen Lake and The Parks Trust. \nWe are working hard in partnership with The Premier Inn at Willen in the hope that rooms will be available at a discounted rate if you would rather sleep in a bed then under canvas\, so watch this space for more updates.\nSnacks\, water and hot drinks will be available FREE of charge. Race 3 will test these skills to the max – in the dark! \nWe like to spread the love so the events are held between the Wellington\, Kapiti and Horowhenua (TBC) regions. \nTo keep things easy\, we know that’s how you like to roll\, the day events will start at 10 am so you can have a lie in. DESCRIPTION:140 Athletes from already 14 different countries have so far written to each other for the Brixen Dolomites Marathon. Among them for the first time are athletes from Russia\, Hong Kong and South Africa. “After the anniversary edition\, we assumed that the number of participants could perhaps decline a little. However\, the opposite is the case\, because we are at exactly the same level as last year. What makes us particularly happy is of course the fact that we attract mountain runners from countries from which no participants have yet come to Brixen. This internationalization is essential for Brixen as a tourist destination\,” says OK boss Christian Jocher. \nThe mountain marathon takes you from the cathedral square in the centre of Brixen (560m) to the Plose\, the local mountain of Brixen at 2.450m. The route goes from forest and meadow trails\, in sections on asphalt roads\, to St. Andrä (1.062m). At the valley station of the cable car Plose takes place the first change of the relay 4×4. Now it goes on hiking and forest trails to Afers (1.504m)\, here is the second change area of the relay 4×4 and the unique one of the relay 2×2. \nAccompanied by a exclusive scenery of the Peitler mountain and the Dolomites in the background\, the route takes you in sections on asphalt roads and forest trails via Rossalm to Kreuztal (2.050 m)\, the 3rd change area for the relay runners 4×4. On the hiking trail to the Ochsenalm you can enjoy the wonderful view down the valley before the last 3\,2 km and 400 m of altitude gain await you. \nThe spectacular mountain scenery\, a 360° panoramic view at the finish make you forget all your efforts of the marathon. DESCRIPTION:The race that started the international swimrun movement. A unique race in a unique place\, hosted in the fantastic Engadin Valley in Switzerland. \nThe Engadin Valley is the first place we went to when we wanted to take the sport of Swimrun out of Sweden. The exceptional beauty of the valley speaks for itself. \nThe Engadin Valley is in the Swiss Alps with the well-known St Moritz in one end of the valley. The valley has several pristine mountain lakes on the valley floor and also some at altitude\, up in the mountains. The trail- running is awesome with some very good vertical. This race is a real test for the athletes.\nIn July the flowers are in full bloom and the kite-surfers fill Lake Silvaplana on windy days. The weather in this period can really be anything from a nice summer day to a cold\, hard day out. Be mentally prepared for the worst and enjoy the best. \nThe water is clear and crisp with some sections around 11 degrees C\, some of the swim sections are long. Dress smart! Do not take the altitude of the course lightly. We strongly suggest several days of on-site to get used to the altitude. \n \n  \nThe Races\nWorld series \nÖTILLÖ Swimrun Engadin is a challenging yet beautiful race. The varied course\, the water temperature and the very strong group of participants will challenge everyone to put in their best performances. \nThe race course is approximately 45\,4 km long of which 39\,6 km are trail running and 5\,8 km are open-water swimming. There are a total of 8 swims of which the longest is 1 400 meters. The total vertical gain is 1 500 meters and the highest swim is at 1 900 meters. \n  \nSprint Race \nThe ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Sprint Engadin will be in Silvaplana and follow some sections of the World Series event before looping back to the finish. A total distance of 15\,3 km\, with 5 runs and 4 swims. No swim will be longer than 820 metres and all swims are protected. The total vertical gain is just shy of 200 metres. The runs are beautiful; some on trail\, some uphill and some with a lot of people around. \nSometimes your partner is sick or injured or you can not find someone to participate with you. We are giving you the option to participate in either the Sprint or the Experience distance as an individual/solo. \n  \nExperience Race \nThe new format EXPERIENCE is exactly what the name implies\, a swimrun experience for those completely new to the sport or for those not ready to compete over bigger distances. In Silvaplana you will experience the beautiful mountains\, the clear water and the very friendly atmosphere of an ÖTILLÖ race. Come alone or come as a team and enjoy the ÖTILLÖ Experience. Thinking up creative ways to complete your race is an essential part of the fun! \nThe Castle Virtual Series are weekend race events. Our race days are Friday\, Saturday and Sunday and on Monday at 6pm we host a live Prize Giving on Facebook. We celebrate podium places and prizes in the post for the winners\, the best dressed\, and medals for all. We have 30 races to choose from – Duathlon\, Triathlon\, Run only\, Swim only\, Cycle only\, Aquabike and Aquathon.  So whether you’re 8 or 88 we have a distance for you. \nWe’ve been amazed to see so many of you come together virtually over these weekends to keep up the training and stay fit. We have loved watching all your times and images coming in. You’ve kept us both busy and entertained all whilst raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

SUMMARY:Solway Coast Marathon
DESCRIPTION:The route starts and finishes at The White Heather Hotel. This course is best described as one of the flattest marathon courses in the UK and is a must for anyone looking for a PB. The roads are quiet country roads and very flat. The course takes you on a 5 mile loop through Kirkbride\, Newton Arlosh and back past the start where family and friends will be able to cheer you on and give the encouragement for 21 miles to come. Skateboards\, roller-skates/rollerblades or similar devices\, are strictly forbidden due to the risk of injury to participants. Be aware we may not have exclusive use of some of the shared paths.\nAll runners will assemble in the advised start area by foot and obey Police and Officials’ directions whilst awaiting the official start.\nTo ensure your safety and that of everyone else in the race\, the use of headphones or any musical device is strongly discouraged. Any use of headphones is a safety hazard since such use may compromise a participant’s ability to hear critical safety and/or directional instructions\, especially instructions that may arise in an emergency situation.\nThere are no prizes for running prams and we request all those pushing running prams not to be competitive\, start from the rear and enjoy the experience. Pushing through runners could lead to injuries.\nDehydration can be potentially lethal\, particularly if you overextend yourself in hot and/or humid conditions. However\, your body can still overheat even if climatic conditions are only moderate. Ensure you drink plenty of water throughout the day prior to the event and drink early in the event before you become thirsty. Stop to walk or at least slow down at drink stations to allow adequate rehydration. DO NOT compete if you have had diarrhoea within 48 hours prior to the event or are suffering from a viral infection or even feeling unwell.\nREMEMBER to also drink plenty of water after the event. If you feel distressed\, disorientated\, dizzy\, or excessively tired\, SLOW down or rest for a while. If you do not improve WITHDRAW.
