SUMMARY:Ultra X Wales 2023 - Ultra Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Ultra X Wales 2023 will now be 220km over five stages.\nUltra X was created to give people amazing adventures in incredible locations worldwide. From the start\, accessibility has been at our core. We truly believe that taking on a multistage ultra marathon is one of the best experiences someone can do\, and we want to share that experience with as many people as possible.\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time ever\, an Ultra X full-distance event will begin on Wednesday and finish on Sunday! \n\n\nCompetitors can arrive on Tuesday evening\, which means that there is no need for a full five days of holiday to be taken to join us for this event.\n\n\nProgramme\n\nWe have an exceptional week planned for you which showcases some of the very best of the UK’s trails.\n\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfFChMzG-og&t=66s\n\n\nThis unique and challenging course takes participants from the northern Cambrian mountains to southern Snowdonia\, following a number of famous trails – including the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail\, the Wales Coastal Path\, the Minffordd Path and the Cross Britain Path – as it weaves its way over the stunning lakes and mountains for which southern Snowdonia is famous\, including the Cadair Idris\, Rhinogydd and Aran Fawddwy ranges.\n\nRunners can expect beaches\, mountains and much\, much more!\n\n\n\n\nIn order to increase accessibility even further\, the distance of Ultra X Wales has been reduced slightly.\n\nStages now range between 33km and 60km and cut-off times have been increased to 3 hours per 10km. More information about the distances can be found here.\n\nWe are tremendously excited about this subtle change in format and hope that it will enable us to appeal to a wider group of people whilst still delivering an extreme endurance challenge.

SUMMARY:Bacchus Wine Half Marathon &10KM
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday 10th September 2023 \n\n\n\nSet in stunning surroundings of the North Downs\, Bacchus has rapidly become one of the must-do events on the UK running calendar.  Most of the field turns out in fancy dress\, and bands and other musical entertainment are around the course. Still\, the drinks stations on the route separate Bacchus from other running races and epitomizes the event’s spirit. \n\n\n\nYou will have the chance to sample six fabulous award-winning English wines at five drinks stations along the course (you visit one station twice\, going out and coming back) with food and soft drinks to accompany them. If you are running 10K\, you’ll visit two of the wine stations. More food\, drink\, and music are waiting for you at the finish at the post-race hog roast\, where the party carries on long into the evening. \n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, there will be no Marathon in 2023. As numbers in the full Marathon distance start to dwindle we felt we could no longer fully support the marathon runners without compromising the Half Marathon or 10K. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSTART WAVES \n\n\n\nThere will be eleven start waves\, the first seven for the Half Marathon runners starting at 9:30 am. Subsequent waves will be set off in 10-minute intervals. There will be three 10K start waves starting at 10:40 am. You will need to pre-select your wave to be sure of starting with your friends. The children’s fun run has one start wave at 11:05 am.  \n\n\n\n09:30am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n09:40am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n09:50am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:00am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:10am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:20am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS  \n\n\n\n10:30am                400 HALF MARATHON RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:40am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n10:50am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n11:00am                10K RUNNERS \n\n\n\n11:05am                FUN RUN \n\n\n\nTOILETS \n\n\n\nFor 2023\, as well as ample toilets in the car park and behind the main building at the start/finish area\, we will have portable toilets on the route at two different locations. \n\n\n\nBAGGAGE \n\n\n\nA secure baggage area is behind the main marquee to the right of Denbies’ main building. You will be asked to approach the start by walking through the marquee and will therefore pass the baggage area on your way to the start. After finishing\, reverse your direction and pass the baggage again before entering the marquee\, which hosts the post-race hog roast.  \n\n\n\nMUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT \n\n\n\nThere will be bands or musical entertainment at each of the drinks stations and at other sections of the course. A DJ will also be playing at The Hog Roast in the finish area.  \n\n\n\nHEADPHONE POLICY \n\n\n\nAs we are not running on any public highways (although there is one road to cross in two places)\, we allow headphones to be used. Still\, it is your responsibility to make sure you listen to any instructions from marshals\, and you wear headphones entirely at your own risk.

SUMMARY:FROZEN LAKE RUN\, MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:The Frozen Lake Marathon and Half Marathon is a unique running event\, it’s the only one we know about that is run entirely on water. Fortunately\, the waters of the Tisela Fjord in Norway at the end of March are frozen\, so it’s less challenging than it could be. But it’s still a challenge. Running on snow and ice is a skill in itself but one that you can quickly master. \nIt’s one lap of the 21.1k course for the half-marathon or twice around if you are running the full marathon. The Icebug Frozen Lake Marathon is limited to 500 runners of all abilities. Once you’ve mastered ice running you should be able to cover the distance quickly because this is the flattest race you’ll ever run and an experience you’ll never forget. \nTisela Fjord Jorden is located 819 meters above sea level in the Norwegian municipalities of Gol and Hemsedal\, which is 200K north of Oslo. \nFor the most part\, the ice on the lake is about 80 cm thick – with a carrying capacity of up to 30 tons. The course is plotted by a support team of ice experts who monitor the lake closely in the days leading up to the event and throughout the race. For maximum safety\, the final course is laid out just days before the race starts. Among other things\, the lake is used for testing vehicle tires\, emergency vehicles\, and drivers who want to test their skills in icy conditions\, so it’s not going to struggle to support the weight of 500 runners! \nTransport from Oslo \nWe have a dedicated bus transfer that will take you from Oslo airport to the hotel Oset\, the race HQ and your base throughout your four-night stay in Norway

The Half Marathon and Marathon goes to the Old Tintern Station which spectators could check in with their runners at the far end of their course. \n\n\n\nFAQs: Please see our FAQ Page if you have any more questions and you can contact us from there is you would still like assistance. \n\n\n\nWye Valley Greenway and the Tidenham Tunnel\n\n\n\nThe Wye Valley Greenway will open for the time in its history on the 1st April 2021 and we are extremely excited to be bringing the first organised event to the Greenway and the Tidenham Tunnel. The charitable organisation Greenways and Cycleroutes has been behind reinvigorating this section of the Wye Valley Railway with a new lease of life; removing the old track\, refurbishing and lighting the 1.1km long Tidenham Tunnel and resurfacing a large portion of the route with a mix of compact stone path and tarmac. The Wye Valley Greenway is a shared-use path\, to be used and enjoyed by cyclists\, walkers and runners. \n\n\n\nThe original railway ran from Chepstow to Monmouth. The last passenger train ran in 1959\, but trains from nearby quarries only finally stopped in 1990. \n\n\n\nThe race starts at Wyedean School and heads along the rail path towards Tintern. Tidenham tunnel is 3km into the race and is itself over 1km long. There are great views along the Wye Valley as the two routes head to their turn-around points before retracing their steps back to the finish line at the station. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to visit the tunnel and Wye Valley Greenway please take a look at the visitors information page on the Wye Valley Greenway website\, which includes info on opening times and access points. \n\n\n\nPrizes\n\n\n\nAll our finishers receive a top of the range custom medal as well as a buffet of fresh fruit and other tasty treats. We also recognise a few of the speedy runners on the following basis. \n\n\n\nPrize Categories \n\n\n\n\nTop 3 male and top 3 female\n\n\n\nFirst U20 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 20-39 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 40-49 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 50-59 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 60-69 male and female\n\n\n\nFirst 70+ male and female\n\n\n\n\nThe final number of prizes awarded is determined by the number of finishers for each gender in a given race distance. If there are more than 100 finishers then the full range of awards are made as shown above. If there are between 50-100 finishers then the top 3 finishers overall will be awarded a prize. If there are less than 50 then only the winner will be awarded a prize. We do not have any winner’s prizes for any of the children’s events as would like to keep this participation focused. \n\n\n\nThere is no on-the-day prize giving because of the multi-wave\, multi-start time format of the events. Prize winners will be contacted midweek via email. \n\n\n\nNotes\n\n\n\nThere is a 3hr cut off for marathon runners to start lap 2 of the marathon. Please note the event is not open to people who would like to walk the event purely\, but if you need to do a mix of running/jogging/walking to complete your distance\, then we are very happy with that. \n\n\n\nRunners with buggies are very welcome for the 6km and 10km. The Half Marathon and Marathon routes are not suitable for buggies. The terrain is a mix of the compact stone path\, road\, forest path and tarmac for the 6km\, the 10km has some more uneven sections\, which we would be more suited to a specific off-road running buggy\, and you may need to walk over these short sections. We would ask you to start at the back of your wave when we move to wave starts. Unfortunately\, none of the events are suitable for canicross. \n\n\n\nThere are great group discount rates for groups of 10 or more runners taking part in races of any distance on the same date. 10-19 runners save 15%\, 20-49 runners save 20%\, 50+ runners save 25%. All bookings must be made in advance of race day to qualify for the discounted rate. We ask all groups to be registered at least four weeks in advance of the race date to we have the opportunity to top up our medal order if necessary.

SUMMARY:THAMES TRAIL ULTRA
DESCRIPTION:A 47-MILE POINT-TO-POINT ALONG ENGLAND’S LONGEST RIVER\n\n\n\nEVENT SUMMARY:\n\n\n\nWHENSaturday 19th October 2024 Registration from 07:00. Start 08:15. \n\n\n\nENTRY FEE£67.00 (includes a tracker) \n\n\n\nThis demanding run along the Thames is one of the most popular events in the British ultra-running calendar. \n\n\n\nPreviously known as the Thames Trot\, the event takes in 47 miles from Iffley in Oxfordshire to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nOur runners will enjoy the company of England’s largest river as it makes its way past ever-changing scenery\, beautiful houses and traditional rowing clubs. Expect everything from tarmac paths to muddy trails on this interesting and challenging course. \n\n\n\nThe run follows both the Thames Path and Ridgeway National Trails\, so entrants should be careful not to forget the words ‘National Trail’ rather than simply reading Thames Path. \n\n\n\nStarting around three miles south of Oxford\, the race heads from Hawkwell House Hotel down to Iffley Lock and across the river. It then follows the towpath through the picturesque towns and villages of the region to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nThere will be a new race finish for 2024 at the YMCA Y Centre\, in Lawson Road\, Henley-on-Thames. This will mean runners will be able to access showers\, hot food and drinks\, and changing facilities at the end of the race – more details can be found here. \n\n\n\nWe are proud to say that this race is an Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc index race. \n\n\n\nIF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS\, PLEASE CALL 07989850170.

SUMMARY:TrailFest - Salcey Forest
DESCRIPTION:What is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early season 50 km in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K TrailFest is for you! \n\n\n\nWe’ve got 4 distances for you to choose from 10K\, half marathon\, marathon and 50 km. A distance to suit everyone! \n\n\n\nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in a fantastic forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible\, too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates\, we’ve got the perfect distance for you. \n\n\n\nWe’ve got very generous cut-off times\, too\, to try and remove some of those barriers to new people trying out the sport. \n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs . It is here on What 3 Words. \n\n\n\nYou do have to pay to park (between £4-£8 at the time of writing). That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \n\n\n\nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes (check for Sunday times) \n\n\n\nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ Trail Running Association license there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe different routes are all on the specific event pages; however\, they all use similar sections of the forest. \n\n\n\nThe majority of the routes are along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt (except 2 road crossings for the longer events!)\, and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well-trodden open forest floor. Obviously\, being in the middle of a forest\, the narrower ones are covered in tree detritus and can become a bit muddy and grimy\, especially when wet. There are a few sections across the grassland. If we are experiencing a wet winter\, expect these to be muddy or waterlogged. Potentially very muddy and very waterlogged! \n\n\n\nPlan to do this event in trail shoes\, if it’s suitable for road shoes we’ve had a dry winter! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n10K \n\n\n\n\nBefore 06/03/2025 £20\n\n\n\nAfter 06/03/2025 £25\n\n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\n\nBefore 06/03/2025 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 06/03/2025 £40\n\n\n\n\nMarathon \n\n\n\n\nBefore 06/03/2025 £50\n\n\n\nAfter 06/03/2025 £55\n\n\n\n\n50K \n\n\n\n\nBefore 06/03/2025 £60\n\n\n\nAfter 06/03/2025 £70\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! If you had been on our Very Important Bear mailing list\, you could have saved 20% before the event was launched! \n\n\n\nCan I run as many laps as I want?\n\n\n\nNot at this event. This may seem an odd question to answer but given the majority of our events are 6 hour lapped events it’s one I’m sure people will have! \n\n\n\nWhat are the timings for each event?\n\n\n\n50 km \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Open – 07:00\n\n\n\nEvent Start – 08:00\n\n\n\n\nMarathon \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Open – 07:00\n\n\n\nEvent Start – 08:30\n\n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Open – 08:00\n\n\n\nEvent Start – 09:00\n\n\n\n\n10 km \n\n\n\n\nRegistration Open – 08:00\n\n\n\nEvent Start – 09:00\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I have a crew or pacers?\n\n\n\nYes and no. You can have crew\, they’re really helpful for more extended events but you cannot have pacers. To be clear\, that means no-one can run with you or walk alongside you for any period of time except in the final 100m. \n\n\n\nWe actively encourage spectators and supporters\, but they must not move along the trail with you. They can pop up all over the course though – or just stay in the cafe all day”! \n\n\n\nThere is a large grass area near the HQ that can be used to put a gazebo up if your team\, club\, or supporters wish to. Just let us know beforehand if you plan to do this. \n\n\n\nAre there cut-offs?\n\n\n\nYes\, but they’re pretty generous! The cut-off for the event is 19:00. So for the 50 km event\, that means an 11-hour cut-off – 21min/mile pace. All other events have the same 19:00 cut-off – so that’s 10 hours to do the 10k! \n\n\n\nOur cut off’s aren’t mean to be punitive\, we just have to let volunteers and medics when they can go home! In the last 3 years\, only 1 person has been within 1 hour of an 11-hour cut-off on this course\, and they had about 30 minutes to spare. \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events.\n\n\n\nThat’s right! Read all about how we do cupless events here \n\n\n\nIs there a mandatory kit?\n\n\n\nThis is different for different distances and strictly enforced for each piece of mandatory kit missing 1 hour will be added to your finish time. For 10k entrants\, there is no mandatory kit\, although a cup/bottle for water is strongly recommended. There are NO CUPS at this event. If you don’t carry a cup you cannot drink water! Half marathon entrants a cup/bottle capable of holding 200ml minimum is mandatory. Marathon & 50k entrants must have water carry capacity for 500ml minimum\, foil blanket\, waterproof jacket (with taped seams) and a charged mobile phone. These are mandatory minimum’s if you want to carry more or extra kit then please do so\, this is to make you safe not to make you run to your best ability. \n\n\n\nWhat if I need to withdraw?\n\n\n\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawal policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are fairer than most\, and as such\, they will be adhered to. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes! We’ve run at Salcey Forest many times in the past at TrailFest ran with great success last year for the first time too. You can read the reviews here \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a great day of trail running in the forest. The format means it’s great for clubs and groups to support people doing varying distances\, and the generous cut-offs mean it’s great for those looking to increase their distances. Whatever your experience or ability we’ll do everything we can to support you for the day. \n\n\n\nWe’ve tried to make as much video content as possible so you can see what our events are like. Have a look at our YouTube channel. The key is that these events are for everyone. There is no such thing as too slow! \n\n\n\nWhat do I get when I finish?\n\n\n\nAll finishers will get one of the above medals. In addition\, finishers of the marathon and 50k distance will get a flapjack and a choice of Big Bear drink\, too. \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe routes can be found at the bottom of the page\, you can click on them to download the gpx. To be clear\, the course will be heavily marked on the day\, so the gpx files should only be necessary as a backup. \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:TrailFest | Salcey Forest
DESCRIPTION:What is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early-season 50 km in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K\, TrailFest is for you! \nWe’ve four distances for you to choose from: 10K\, half marathon\, marathon\, and 50 km. A distance to suit everyone! \nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates\, we’ve got the perfect distance for you. \nWe’ve got very generous cut-off times too\, to try and remove some of those barriers to new people trying out the sport. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use postcode NN7 2HX for your Sat Nav. It is located here on What3Words. \nYou do have to pay to park (between £3.80 – £9 at the time of writing).  That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9 am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes (check for Sunday times) \nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ Trail Running Association license\, there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\nThe different routes all use similar sections of the forest. The majority of the routes are along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt (except 2 road crossings for the longer events!\,) and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event\, but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n10K\nHalf Marathon\nMarathon\n50K\n\n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £20 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £35 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £51 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £62 \n\n\n\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £25\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £40\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £56\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £72\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! If you were on our Very Important Bear mailing list\, you could have also saved 20% before the event was launched! \n\nCan I run as many laps as I want?\nNot at this event. This may seem an odd question to answer but given the majority of our events are 6 hour lapped events it’s one I’m sure people will have! \n  \nWhat are the timings for each event?\n\n\n\nEvent\nRegistration Open\nEvent Start\n\n\n50 km\n07:00\n08:00\n\n\nMarathon\n07:00\n08:30\n\n\nHalf Marathon\n08:00\n09:00\n\n\n10 km\n08:00\n09:00\n\n\n\n\nCan I have crew or pacers?\nYes and no. You can have crew\, they’re really helpful for longer events\, but you cannot have pacers. To be clear\, that means no-one can run with you or walk alongside you for any period of time except in the final 100m or so. \n\nAre there cut-offs?\nYes\, but they’re pretty generous! The cutoff for the event is 19:00. For the 50 km event\, this means an 11-hour cutoff\, or a 21-minute/mile pace. All other events have the same 19:00 cutoff – so that’s 10 hours to complete the 10k! \n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events?\nThat’s right! Discover how we host cupless events here. For clarity\, that means there are zero cups at the aid stations. If you want liquid\, you need to bring a cup! \n\nIs there a mandatory kit?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is different for different distances and strictly enforced for each piece of mandatory kit missing 1 hour will be added to your finish time. For 10k entrants there is no mandatory kit although a cup/bottle for water is strongly recommended. There are NO CUPS at this event. If you don’t carry a cup you cannot drink water! \nHalf marathon/Marathon/50k entrants a cup/bottle capable of holding 200ml minimum is mandatory. It’ is strongly advised to carry a foil blanket and a charged mobile phone. \nThese are mandatory minimum’s if you want to carry more or extra kit then please do so\, this is to make you safe not to make you run to your best ability. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I need to withdraw?\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawal policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are fairer than most and as such they will be adhered to. \n\nSummary Details:\n\nSunday\, June 28\, 2026\n8:00 AM  7:00 PM\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HXUnited Kingdom\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nTrailFest Salcey Forest – Marathon FINAL \n\n\n\n \n\n\nTrailFest – Salcey Forest 50K FINAL \n\n\n\n \n\nTrailFest – Salcey – HM \n\n\n\n \n\nTrailFest – Salcey Forest – 10K FINAL
