SUMMARY:ULTRA X JORDAN - Ultra Marathon October 2021
DESCRIPTION:Ultra X Jordan (previously the Wadi Rum Ultra) takes place in the land of Lawrence of Arabia. The mystical desert course takes competitors past historic sites\, into dramatic wadis and over magnificent sand dunes. \nWadi Rum’s nickname is “The Valley of the Moon” and participants will quickly see why. Its landscape\, characterised by unique towering rock formations\, is truly mind-blowing\, as is the challenge. As locations go\, this place is unrivalled in its beauty. \nWe are dreaming of the desert! \nDid you know that Ultra X Jordan was our first event? From 2016 to 2018 it was called the Wadi Rum Ultra. In 2017\, Sam and Jamie (the co-founders) met\, Sam was running and Jamie was the Race Director! The two got on and the rest is history! \nHere is why we think you should be joining us this October: \n1) The Course \nOur race course\, which changes slightly each year will take participants on a grand tour of Wadi Rum’s protected region. You’ll pass through canyons\, dried up riverbeds and occasionally over big sand dunes. \n2) The History \nThe desert is steeped in history. Wadi Rum may be best known for its connection with British Army officer T. E. Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia\, who passed through several times during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. \nIf Wadi Rum isn’t enough for you\, the opportunity to visit the Lost City of Petra on the Saturday after the race certainly will be. \nPetra will take your breath away. The area is thought to have been inhabited from as early as 7000 BC and was once a major regional trading hub used by the Nabataean people. For the film buffs among you\, it’s fame was amplified in Indiana Jones\, The Last Crusade \n  \n\n\n\n\nMEDAL RIBBONS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll finishers will receive a race medal. Different medal ribbons will be awarded based upon the finishing times outlined below. \nAs part of our Sustainability Policy\, the Green Ribbon will be awarded to the competitor that displays the highest commitment to reducing their environmental impact both in preparation for and during the race (as determined by the organisers). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBLACK RIBBON\n\nUnder 27 hours \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHITE RIBBON\n\nUnder 30 hours \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBLUE RIBBON\n\nOver 30 hours \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nINCLUDED:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1. Race entry \n2. Accommodation during the race (3-8 October) \n3. Transfers between Amman and Wadi Rum desert \n4. Medical staff on course and at all campsites \n5. Osteopathy staff on course and at all campsites \n6. Drinking water at checkpoints on course and hot water\nfor preparing food at all campsites \n7. Celebratory meal and local entertainment on the final night of the race \n8. Ground assistance and full safety support \n9. Digital copies of all images from event photographer \n10. Individual/team rankings and ITRA points \n11. Finisher’s medal \n\n\n\nNOT INCLUDED:\n\n\n\n\n1. Flights \n2. Accommodation before or after the race (accommodation at the race hotel can be purchased as an add-on at checkout) \n3. Personal food\, kit and equipment (see kit list below) \n4. Comprehensive insurance (to cover cancellations\, loss of items\, injury etc) \n5. Training costs \n6. Spending money \n7. Transport home for runners who are\ndisqualified or withdraw early

The 66811 ha of mountainous terrain is located in the Cape Floral Region only three hours outside Cape Town\, but it feels like a different world. The Cederberg Mountains\, burnt orange by iron oxide\, dominate the landscape. Jagged sandstone rock formations\, like the Maltese Cross and the Wolfberg Arch\, and ancient San and Khoi rock art\, make this area truly spectacular. \nThe Cederberg lies 250km north of Cape Town\, stretching from the Middelberg Pass in Citrusdal to north of the Pakhuis Pass at Clanwilliam. The wilderness encompasses about 71 000 hectares of rugged\, mountainous terrain\, making it a top spot in the Western Cape for hiking and rock-climbing enthusiasts. \nThe Cederberg\, which forms part of the Cape floral Region\, is a World Heritage Site\, is covered in mountain fynbos\, including the laurel protea\, the red disa\, rooibos\, and the rare and endemic snow protea. Rare Clanwilliam cedars\, the area’s namesake\, dot the higher mountain cliffs. \nThe area is also rich in wildlife. Visitors with a keen eye may spot porcupines\, honey badger\, the Cape clawless otter and aardvark. The lucky few may even catch a glimpse of the elusive leopard. There are also smaller predators like the African wild cat\, lynx\, bat-eared fox\, aardwolf and Cape fox. Other\, more common animals include baboons\, dassies\, grey rhebok\, klipspringers\, duiker and grysbok. \nTo find out more\, download the Cederberg Wilderness brochure. \nAlgeria\nFrom Cape Town: Take the N7 highway. Stay on the N7 past Citrusdal\, after 28km take the Cederberg/Algeria turn-off to the right. Follow this main gravel road for 17km you will see the office complex and accommodation and campsite access road on your left. This is a 250km drive\, which should take about three hours. \n \n

SUMMARY:Ultra X Wales 2023 - Ultra Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Ultra X Wales 2023 will now be 220km over five stages.\nUltra X was created to give people amazing adventures in incredible locations worldwide. From the start\, accessibility has been at our core. We truly believe that taking on a multistage ultra marathon is one of the best experiences someone can do\, and we want to share that experience with as many people as possible.\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time ever\, an Ultra X full-distance event will begin on Wednesday and finish on Sunday! \n\n\nCompetitors can arrive on Tuesday evening\, which means that there is no need for a full five days of holiday to be taken to join us for this event.\n\n\nProgramme\n\nWe have an exceptional week planned for you which showcases some of the very best of the UK’s trails.\n\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfFChMzG-og&t=66s\n\n\nThis unique and challenging course takes participants from the northern Cambrian mountains to southern Snowdonia\, following a number of famous trails – including the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail\, the Wales Coastal Path\, the Minffordd Path and the Cross Britain Path – as it weaves its way over the stunning lakes and mountains for which southern Snowdonia is famous\, including the Cadair Idris\, Rhinogydd and Aran Fawddwy ranges.\n\nRunners can expect beaches\, mountains and much\, much more!\n\n\n\n\nIn order to increase accessibility even further\, the distance of Ultra X Wales has been reduced slightly.\n\nStages now range between 33km and 60km and cut-off times have been increased to 3 hours per 10km. More information about the distances can be found here.\n\nWe are tremendously excited about this subtle change in format and hope that it will enable us to appeal to a wider group of people whilst still delivering an extreme endurance challenge.

SUMMARY:THAMES TRAIL ULTRA
DESCRIPTION:A 47-MILE POINT-TO-POINT ALONG ENGLAND’S LONGEST RIVER\n\n\n\nEVENT SUMMARY:\n\n\n\nWHENSaturday 19th October 2024 Registration from 07:00. Start 08:15. \n\n\n\nENTRY FEE£67.00 (includes a tracker) \n\n\n\nThis demanding run along the Thames is one of the most popular events in the British ultra-running calendar. \n\n\n\nPreviously known as the Thames Trot\, the event takes in 47 miles from Iffley in Oxfordshire to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nOur runners will enjoy the company of England’s largest river as it makes its way past ever-changing scenery\, beautiful houses and traditional rowing clubs. Expect everything from tarmac paths to muddy trails on this interesting and challenging course. \n\n\n\nThe run follows both the Thames Path and Ridgeway National Trails\, so entrants should be careful not to forget the words ‘National Trail’ rather than simply reading Thames Path. \n\n\n\nStarting around three miles south of Oxford\, the race heads from Hawkwell House Hotel down to Iffley Lock and across the river. It then follows the towpath through the picturesque towns and villages of the region to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nThere will be a new race finish for 2024 at the YMCA Y Centre\, in Lawson Road\, Henley-on-Thames. This will mean runners will be able to access showers\, hot food and drinks\, and changing facilities at the end of the race – more details can be found here. \n\n\n\nWe are proud to say that this race is an Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc index race. \n\n\n\nIF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS\, PLEASE CALL 07989850170.
