DESCRIPTION:GO TRI LOCAL – 50M SWIM\, 1.5K BIKE\, 650 RUN (OR LONGER)\n\n\n\nDate: January 3\, 2023\n\n\n\nLocation: Torbay Velopark\, Penwill Way\, Paignton\, TQ4 5JR\n\n\n\nGO TRI Local is ideal for people that are brand new to swimming\, biking and running and looking to take their first steps in a safe and enjoyable environment. Think of it as like Parkrun for Swim Bike Run. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part. \n\n\n\nGO TRI Local Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off-road course that suitable for all ages & abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. With the opportunities\, we have set out the minimum distances for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped\, so you can do as much or as little that want on the day. eg more experienced people can do a 150m swim\, a 7.5K bike (5 laps of the velopark) and a 2k run which is 3 laps of our run course \n\n\n\nFAMILIES ENCOURAGED\n\n\n\nChildren as young as 6 (provided they can swim 25m) can take part with a responsible adult taking part with them. To book children\, please read our FAQs further down this page first. \n\n\n\nYou start with a pool-based swim\, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth\, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. In the event of bad weather\, we may change the format to a duathlon or a reverse triathlon. \n\n\n\nWHAT YOU GET\n\n\n\n\nTraffic Free course\n\n\n\nFriendly safe environment\n\n\n\nFor children as young as 4 (with a responsible adult taking part with them)\n\n\n\nTiming & results provided\n\n\n\nNo upper age limit\n\n\n\nPublic liability insurance\n\n\n\nMarked course\n\n\n\nEntry is just £5 per person\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\n\nParking\n\n\n\n\nThere is plenty of parking in the Leisure Centre car park\, but you do need to pay for it! See en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/building/torbay-leisure-centre-torquay/ . There is some free parking available starting a few hundred metres from the Leisure Centre. \n\n\n\n\nFAQS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo I need to be a good swimmer or biker\, or runner to take part? \n\nAbsolutely not. You can swim as little as 50m or as much as 200m. You can even stop for a breather if you need to & breaststroke\, front crawl\, and even doggy paddle are all fine. It’s just backstroke that isn’t permitted. Similarly\, on the bike leg\, you’ll find the smooth\, flat tarmac very easy to ride on. And the run is also flat with enough time to walk around if you prefer.\n\n\nHow do I book my children onto GO TRI Local? \nWe have to use the British Triathlon booking system for GO TRI Local. It doesn’t currently have a ‘basket’ system\, but you can book multiple people using the same email address and password. See GO TRI Booking FAQ for more details.\n\n\nIs GO TRI Local every month? \nYes\, they are on the first Saturday of every month (except for May 2022\, where we had to move it forward a week due to a clash with a swimming gala. In the winter months\, we will probably switch the format to a duathlon (run bike run)\, aquabike (swim/indoor bike)\, or aquathlon (swim/run). Here are the first 12 confirmed dates. DESCRIPTION:The beautiful location of Millwater School\, found on the grounds of Bicton college\, will be the host for The Balmy Bicton 10km 2023. Going into its third year\, this challenging multi-terrain course takes you through the undulating lanes surrounding the college grounds. Runners of all levels can take part in this unique race covering tarmac\, unmetalled roads and even a ford if we’ve had enough rain! \n\n\n\nRoute TBC. \n\n\n\nThe grounds of Millwater School lend themselves wonderfully to staging this race\, with plenty of parking\, green spaces and plenty of areas for spectators to cheer you on\, creating a fantastic atmosphere. \n\n\n\nBespoke medal for all race finishers. \n\n\n\nThe 10km race day logistics and timings: \n\n\n\n\n0730 Race number collection opens for pre-registered entrants\n\n\n\n0800 Baggage drop opens (please note this is unsecured and any belongings left at own risk).\n\n\n\n0845 Registration closes\n\n\n\n0850 Race brief\n\n\n\n0900 The Balmy 10km starts\n\n\n\n\nFab finishers medal for every competitor \n\n\n\nTrophies for the following categories in male and female: \n\n\n\nOverall 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd \n\n\n\nAge category winners tbc.
