SUMMARY:Free Triathlon Training in Ipoh Malaysia
DESCRIPTION:Ipoh\, Perak\, Malaysia is going to have two great international athletes leading workshops and training camps for anyone interested in Triathlon.  Swimming Cycling and Running. \n  \nHi Everyone \nBelow is you’ll find the weekly training structure for our group and others that are bound to join. It will help develop us all for our goals moving forward even if your goal is just to be a healthier happier person J \nThese sessions start TOMORROW and I just want to run you through some key points on the plan. \nThe track session is a key session for the week and will develop your run technique and leg speed\, giving you tremendous pace awareness. The first session TOMORROW is an important session where I will test your aerobic capacity (or your run VO2 max)\, this can be done fairly accurately with a simple time trial and will provide paces which will really help each training phase. If you do own a pace watch PLEASE wear it to each session and I will provide you with your paces that we will be using after our simple test tomorrow. We meet at the polo ground run track (around the pond) at 7am sharp for a 1 hour session. \nSwim sessions are less than I would like at just two 1 hour sessions per week\, we should swim more than this and we eventually will\, but please attend these two sessions if possible and use the techniques learnt in your own sessions. Just pay your public entry fee at 8am to access the outside MBI pool\, PLEASE bring Fins\, Paddles\, Pull Buoy and kick board if you have them and if you do not PLEASE purchase them as you will not be able to participate in valuable drills without them! Head to the pool as quickly as possible so we can get in and secure a centre section of the pool in what is a public session. \nKelly’s Castle TT on Tuesday nights is both fun and a very valuable session we will meet at the Sri Maha Mariamman Hindu Temple next to Kellies Castle https://goo.gl/maps/8yAqnVkHmaE2 I have agreed parking here for all our participants\, but please kindly make a donation at the box inside the temple to show our appreciation for accepting us! These sessions WILL build speed and develop your threshold power through the season\, I can give you pointers on this\, but the fun bit is that all results will be entered onto a league table to provide end of year results which will result in prizes and awards for the most improved and fasted riders as well as some fun awards as well! The league table will be updated and published after each Tuesday evening session. \nAll other sessions are group runs or bike rides where there is no specific coaching but we will work as a team and improve together sharing experience and advice. \nYou may notice there is a Junior bike skills session which Dave Spence has kindly agreed to run\, this still needs final agreement but will be a great session for bike development and I have some good ideas I can share with Dave to make it both fun and beneficial which it’s bound to be!! \nInterim Sessions \n• Track session – Monday 7am (Polo ground or 200m track TBC) \n• Swim set – Tuesdays 8am (MBI public pool) \n• Kelly’s castle Cycling TT – Tuesdays 6pm (Sri Maha Mariamman Temple) \n• Run Easy – Wednesday 7am (Polo grounds park) \n• Bike group – Thursday 6.30am (Tambun McDonalds) \n• Swim set – Friday 8am (MBI public pool) \n• Long Bike ride – Saturday 7am (Public Bank Simpang Pulai) \n• Junior Bike skills – Saturday 5.30pm (location TBC) \n• Long Easy Run – Sunday 7am (Meeting point TBC) \n \n

SUMMARY:10K Swim for Haiti 2019
DESCRIPTION:Swim for Haiti 2019\nJoin us on the unique swimming holiday in Haiti as we take part in the annual 10km ‘Swim for Haiti’\, a special event to raise funds for teaching local children the fundamentals of swimming. Staying on the palm-fringed Côte des Arcadins\, overlooking the island of Isle de la Gonave\, we stay at the locally-owned Wahoo Bay Resort which is nestled between the majestic Matheux Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. \nWhile the nation of Haiti is filled with palm-fringed beaches and stunning coastal waters that rival anywhere in the Caribbean\, the true beauty of the country lies in its history\, culture and people. With a mix of African\, French\, Spanish and native Taino culture\, this trip will give you the opportunity to experience the wonderful hospitality that this small Caribbean nation is famous for. \nDuring the course of your trip\, you will also have the opportunity to take part on additional excursions or activities which can be arranged through our partners in Haiti. Please enquire with the SwimTrek office about any additional activities or extra nights’ accommodation that you may be interested in. \nWho is this trip for?\nThis event is suitable for both competitive and non-competitive swimmers. The 10 km (6-mile) crossing from the idyllic islands of Iles des Arcadins to the La Côte des Arcadins region on the Haitian mainland is stunning\, with dazzling blue water surrounding you. Each swimmer is accompanied by a local fisherman who paddles alongside them in a traditional dugout canoe. This truly is an adventure like no other. \nWhat’s included?\nEntry into the annual Swim For Haiti fundraising event\nYour own personal safety support in a local-style\, dug-out canoe\nDesignated SwimTrek transfer\nCoastal swims on Day 2 and 3\nThree nights accommodation\nAll breakfasts\nMedical Incident Response Services by HERO \nWhat’s not included?\nLunches\nEvening meals\nAdditional excursions and activities\nExtra nights’ accommodation before or after your trip \nAccommodation\nTake in the panoramic views of the stunning acreage\, dotted with lush trees and tranquil beaches at the Wahoo Bay Beach Resort\, which is where we call home for the duration of our trip. The resort sits on the ocean-front nestled between the Matheux Mountains and Gonave Bay and provides both a relaxing and active atmosphere. All rooms are decorated with traditional Haitian décor\, with en-suite facilities. air-conditioning\, ocean views and complimentary Wi-Fi. Accommodation is based on twin-share\, however\, there are a limited number of single rooms available which\, subject to availability\, can be purchased during the booking process. \nMeals\nAll breakfasts are included in your trip price\, however lunches and dinners are at your own expense. This gives you a fantastic opportunity to explore and experience the local cafes and restaurants of your choice over the course of your trip. We often dine out together as a group in the evenings. \nExtra Expenses\nYou should bring extra money with you to cover such items as entertainment\, dinner\, souvenirs\, etc. The local currency is Haitian Gourde\, however most shops and restaurants will prefer payment in US dollars. There is no cash machine at or near the hotel. It is advised that you take enough money out to Haiti with you to cover the whole period of the trip. As well as cash\, most restaurants will accept card payments. You should allow around $40 per day (for lunch and dinner) but this will vary per person. \nTourists must pay a US $55 departure tax. For most international flights this is usually included in the price of the ticket but for some flights\, for example from the Dominican Republic\, you need to pay this amount in cash on departure. Make sure you have enough US dollars or local currency on departure. \nPassports and Visas\nNon-residents of Haiti require a full passport to enter the country\, which should be valid for six months beyond the expected length of stay. Citizens of most countries\, including all E.U. member states\, U.S.\, Canada\, Australia and New Zealand do not require a visa to enter Haiti (unless the expected length of stay is longer than 90 days in one year). Please note that visa regulations are subject to change and we advise that you check your own visa requirements prior to travel: Haiti Visa Entry Requirements \nTravel Insurance\nAs part of your ‘Swim for Haiti’ race entry\, you are eligible for free emergency medical services cover as provided by HERO Emergency Medical Services in Haiti. For more information about HERO\, please visit: https://www.heroclientrescue.com/the-mission. Please note that this cover is separate to the travel insurance which you are required to take out prior to your SwimTrek trip. For further information on our travel insurance requirements\, please visit our Travel Insurance page. \nVaccinations\nFor comprehensive health information for people travelling to Haiti\, including all recommended and required vaccinations\, please visit http://www.travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries. Please note that this information is subject to change and you should re-check this site regularly prior to your trip. \nUK health authorities have classified Haiti as having a moderate risk of Zika virus transmission. For further information about this assessment\, you should visit http://www.gov.uk/guidance/zika-virus-country-specific-risk and follow the advice on the Travel Health Pro. It is also recommended that you discuss your travel plans with your healthcare provider\, particularly if you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant. \nTravel Plugs & Electricity\nFor a useful source of information on the different electrical outlets\, electrical plugs\, and electric sockets\, please visit ElectricalOutlet.org. \nSwimming Information \nGetting There\nThere are many different options for travelling to Haiti\, however we recommend flying to Port Au Prince Airport (PAP) and catching the SwimTrek designated transfer to Wahoo Bay Resort. We suggest that you use http://www.skyscanner.net to search for alternative flight and ferry options for this trip. Whichever route you choose to take\, we recommend confirming your flights and other travel arrangements as early as possible in order to avoid price rises and availability issues. \nTravelling to Haiti\nFlights to Port Au Prince (PAP) are widely available from Miami and New York. You can also fly with Air France via another Caribbean Island. A small selection of the airlines which fly into Port Au Prince are included below. \n \nSwimTrek Transfer\nSwimTrek provide a designated transfer service from the airport to Wahoo Beach Resort which is included in your trip price. This saves the hassle of organising your own travel once you have arrived in Haiti. The transfers can be booked around your own flight times and you will be met by a SwimTrek representative just outside arrivals. Please inform SwimTrek head office of your arrival and departure times so we can book your transfers accordingly. Please note that there is no public transport from the airport to the hotel and it is advised that you do not take the private ‘tap taps’ (communal taxis). \nSwim Notes

SUMMARY:The Bali Hope SwimRun 2018
DESCRIPTION:Bali Hope SwimRun 2018\nThe Bali Hope SwimRun aims to bring together 30 extraordinary people for 5 days this December to take on the challenge of Bali’s first swimrun and fundraise US$60\,000 to help protect the islands of Lembongan and Ceningan from plastic pollution. \nSwimRun is a Nordic adventure sport where teams of two compete by alternating between running and swimming on a challenging course covering roads\, beaches\, ocean\, rocks\, and paths. Each team must help each other through the terrain to beat the course and complete the entire course together. Unlike triathlon there are no transitions or changes of equipment allowed. \nThe environmental challenge presented by plastic is well documented. What is less clear is what we can do as individuals to tackle this problem. Many of our team members will travel to Bali from Europe or North America and it is important to acclimatise before the SwimRun. \nCan I bring a partner and/or children?\nOf course. Partners and children are most welcome. In 2018 on our ultra marathon we had 4 young people with us\, including one young adult who joined our support crew. Witnessing a team of adults from around the world making change happen for a disadvantaged community can only be a positive experience. \nCan I join the SwimRun but not the rest of the week? \nUnfortunately not. The integrity of our SwimRun team\, our shared experience and our itinerary means this is not possible. \nThe SwimRun \nWhat is your advice if I have never joining a SwimRun before?\nThe route is designed to be challenging but accessible for anyone with a decent level of fitness. We do recommend researching SwimRun and the standard equipment required. \nWhat level of support do you provide?\nParticipant safety on this ocean & road race is our key priority. With this in mind we have a highly-experienced health and safety director\, emergency medical back-up\, and trained first aiders in both fixed and mobile-aid stations. \nWhat insurance do I need? \nEvery participant will need insurance covering endurance sports. \nFundraising \nWhat is your advice on fundraising?\nCritical factors on successful fundraising include starting early to raise awareness of what you are doing\, the impact it will make and the training commitment required\, and then follow this up with personal messages to friends\, family and your broader network. We believe US$2\,000 is very achievable and together we can make a real impact in reducing plastic pollution.

SUMMARY:St Michaels Mount Swim 2018
DESCRIPTION:St Michaels Mount Swim 2018 \nThe Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer’s annual one and a half mile swim around the spectacular St Michaels Mount will take place on Saturday 11th August 2018 at 16.00. \nThe St Michaels Mount swim starts on the beach at Marazion where swimmers will set off for the Mount over the causeway swimming through clear waters around the Mount before making a course back to the beach to cheers from friends and family and a welcome pasty. \nDavid Squires\, Events Manager at the Chestnut Appeal said “The swim can be quite challenging and we ask that all those who take part can complete the distance in a pool and have experience of Open Water Swimming.” \n “Its such a fantastic event in a stunning location and the event attracts people from all corners of the UK to take part.” said David Squires \nA recent fundraising campaign has meant that the Chestnut Appeal is now able to provide the very latest in equipment for faster diagnosis of prostate cancer now in place at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. \nAt a cost of £105\,000 the Ultrasound – MRI Fusion Scanner for Targeted Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer is the first of its kind in the region. The Chestnut Appeal hope that soon they can announce the arrival of a second Scanner in the East of the region and it is their aim and with the support of the public to install others in Torbay and Truro as and when funds allow. \nThe St Michaels Mount swim will be fully supported by the team from Event Water Safety. Event Water Safety provide the necessary expertise and craft and have covered all the Chestnut Appeal’s charity swims since 2011. EWS provide safety at some of the UK’s biggest swims including the Dart 10k and Bournemouth Pier to Pier. \nRegistration for the swim is £35. Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event\, but it’s the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families\, so we ask all our St Michaels Mount Swimmers set themselves a Sponsorship target of at least £75.\nThis will be our fifth swim around the mount and it’s a swim that has helped us raise our profile in Cornwall and has seen us attract new supporters. So if you fancy a new challenge and at the same time raise money to help men with prostate cancer in the region then why not register today. \nEntry to the St Michaels Mount Swim includes; a medal on completion of the swim\, full water safety support from Event Water Safety\, an event swim cap\, water and an end of swim pasty. \nThe Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer is a charity that supports men with Prostate Cancer and their families across Devon and Cornwall. \nSt. Michaels Mount\, home to the St. Aubyn family is managed by the National Trust and a beautiful place to visit. At low tide\, it is possible to walk across the causeway to the mount.

SUMMARY:The Thames Marathon - Long Distance Swimming Event
DESCRIPTION:Long Distance Swimming Event\nThe Thames Marathon\, now in its 8th year\, is a 14km long-distance challenge swim from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow. It covers a beautiful stretch of the Thames and has become one of open water swimming’s most prestigious marathon swims. The swim is split into 4 sections. Swimmers will be required to exit the water at the 3 locks – Hambledon at 4k\, Hurley at 10k and Temple at 11.8k – where food and drink will be available. \nWhere does the swim start and finish?\nIn 2018 the Thames Marathon 14km swim will start at The Leander club\, Henley and finish at Higginson Park\, Marlow. \nWhere should I park for the event?\nThe official car parking will be in Henley\, at Wargrave Meadows\, Wargrave Rd. From here you will take the short walk to the start venue at Leander club. After you have finished your swim and had some food and collected your finisher medal\, we will transport you back to Henley. Supporters will be able to pay on the day to use the coach service. \nIs there other parking in Henley?\nYes\, there are plenty of public car parks in Henley and they are free on Sundays. The return coach will only drop off at the official car park. \nThames Marathon – Long Distance Swimming Event\nHow will my bag get to the end?\nWe will transport one small bag (3-4kg) for each swimmer. We will tag your bag for identification purposes\, and have it waiting for you at the finish area. We try and be careful but accidents do happen -please don’t use your best bag as we can’t be held responsible for any damage suffered in transit. \nCan I swim in a team with a group of friends?\nAbsolutely\, in fact we encourage it. The more people who swim together and look out for each other\, the safer the event is. If you wish to swim with friends\, please make sure that you all enter the same wave. \nWill I be able to wear a tow float?\nIn 2018 all swimmers will be required to use a tow float and are advised to get used to swimming with one before the event. Selkie Swim Co have some available. \nHow will you ensure that those who want to do solo swims are able to do so safely?\nWe have a fully approved safety plan that ensures coverage across the full course throughout the event. In addition ALL swimmers will be required to use a tow-float at the 2018 event. \nCan I swim non – wetsuit?\nWe do have a small number of non-wetsuit places available. . This is to minimise the risk to our safety plan. Wetsuits are important for retaining heat and providing buoyancy. If you would like a non-wetsuit place your application will be assessed by the events team for approval. Our decision is final on wetsuits and no discussion can be entered into. We advise swimmers to be prepared to wear a wetsuit if asked\, on the day. \nNon-wetsuit places have now been allocated for 2018 and a waiting list is in operation \nHow many feed stops will there be ?\nThere will be 3 feed stops in 2018 – one at each lock: Hambleden (4km)\, Hurley (10km) and Temple (11.8km) \nWhat food will be available at the feed stops?\nWe will provide a bit of everything\, including bananas\, energy bars\, energy drinks\, water\, some chocolate\, sweets\, and some salty snacks. A couple of the stops will also have hot drinks. \nHow will the start work?\nThe pink wave\, for faster swimmers that wish to race against the clock\, will go off first. The remaining waves will go off at 20 minute intervals (timetable subject to change). \nHow should I choose which wave to enter?\nFaster swimmers that wish to swim against the clock\, and have a 1500m pool time of 25 minutes or less should select the pink wave. \nOther swimmers should select either the blue or the green wave. In 2018 both of these waves will be of mixed ability. If you wish to swim with a group\, make sure you all select the same wave. The BLUE WAVE is now SOLD OUT. If you are not a pink wave swimmer\, please select the green wave. \nThe first (pink) wave will set off at 7am\, with approximately 20 minutes in between the waves. These timings are provisional and are subject to change. \nWe would recommend that if you are not presently able to complete a 1500m swim in under 45mins it might be as well to target a shorter event and then build for the 2019 Thames Marathon. \nAre there toilets on the course?\nThere are toilets at the start at Leander club\, and at the finish at Higginson Park. We are aiming to have a toilet stop at one of the food stations as well. \nCan supporters walk the route?\nThe route is walkable\, by following The Thames Path. Download the route here – Thames Marathon Walking Route. \nIt is also possible to cycle the route\, although there are a large number of kissing style gates where you may have to lift your bikes to get through. \nCan I talk to fellow swimmers in advance of the event?\nDefinitely\, we have set up Henley Swim Chatter as a facebook forum\, where you are able to discuss anything with fellow swimmers from nutrition and training tips to transport to the event on the day. There is also a facebook event page with all the latest information.
