DESCRIPTION:Spetsathlon 2018\nWelcome to Spetsathlon 2018\, a rich and diverse sporting event featuring a number of happenings and sports activities for runners and other athletes\, in a beautiful route along the periphery of the island. \nParticipating in Spetsathlon 2018 is a great opportunity to enjoy a unique running course of natural beauty\, a route by the sea and through the pine trees\, passing by historical landmarks. Let alone that the weather in Spetses is ideal for a running eve. \nWhat is Spetsathlon\nTriathlon: running\, swimming\, cycling \nRaces\nTriathlon: sprint & endurance running\, swimming\, cycling\n1. Triathlon race\, 2 courses:\nSpetses Triathlon Sprint (750m swim\, 25km bike and 5km run)\nSpetses Triathlon Endurance (1500m swim\, 50km bike and 10km run)\n2. The Bike Race (25 km) – Spetses Island Round \nThe participation includes the following benefits\n– Participation certificate\n– Commemorative medal for participation\n– Commemorative T-shirt\n– Race bag\n– Pasta Party \nHealth coverage\nIn any case all runners participate solely at their own risk. The organisers have no responsibility for whatever happens to the runners related to health issues or owing to lack of a preventive medical check. It is highly recommended that the participants undergo a thorough medical examination before entering the race. The organisers will not ask for medical certificates from any athlete (male and female)\, since they all participate at their own exclusive risk and responsibility (parents or guardians have liability for their children). We will also provide offers for special health check-up for all runners\, and members of their families.  \nAid Stations\nAlong the running route\, there will be stations to support the runners. At the start and finish stations and at the runners’ support stations bottled water and sports drinks will be available to all attendees.  \nAwards\nThe first three winners of the general classification Men and Women will be awarded a medal and a diploma. To all the runners who finish the race a commemorative medal and a diploma of participation will be given.\nThe age categories for men and women\, in both triathlon and bike race\, will be the following: 19-29 / 30-39 / 40-49 / 50-59 / 60-69 / 70 + \nQualification criteria\nTriathlon Race athletes must\n– Be over 18 years of age\n– Submit a medical report by a GP or Cardiologist (issued 6 months before the event at the very most)\n– Wear a helmet during the cycling race.\n– Wear a cap during the swimming race.\n*Participation will not be allowed if the documents requested are not submitted! \nElectronic Timing\nAll participants will be timed by a timing company using an electronic timing system. For this reason\, the runners must wear the timing chip they will receive from the registration centre along with the participation number. Attention: Your time will not be registered and will not be included in the results if you do not have the timing chip attached to your shoe and if you fail to pass over the timing mats. \nRoutes\nEven though the streets of Spetses are of good quality for the first two to three kilometres after the start line\, there are some problematic spots when cycling through the old part of the city. SUMMARY:The Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon\nThis first race of the season sets the scene for a competitive and fun series\, hosted within the beautiful grounds and surrounding area of stunning South Galway. What’s more\, the race coincides with a Bank Holiday in the UK and it is also the first weekend of the UK school half term\, making it an ideal break for sporty families. \nAll of the races at Lough Cutra Castle kick-off by launching into an open-water swim in the lake\, transitioning into a bike route which circumnavigates Lough Cutra itself. The half iron gauntlet cycle takes in the beautiful Burren national park. The event offers not only a chance to race but a festival atmosphere with live music\, dancing\, children’s entertainment\, retailers and food. \nAbout Lough Cutra Castle\nThe countryside surrounding Lough Cutra Castle contains evidence of a history dating back to the Irish-Celtic mythology of the Tuatha Dé Danaan. \nOld churches\, cells and monasteries are prolific in the area\, with some of the islands on the lake containing the remnants of stone altars. \nThe history of the actual estate can be traced back as far as 866 A.D. when the ruined church of Beagh was sacked by the Danes and war raged through the district for nearly 1\,000 years. \nThe Castle itself was built during the Gothic revival period and is idyllically situated overlooking the Estate’s 1\,000 acre lake (the largest privately owned lake in Europe)\, home to the open-water swim of the Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon.

DESCRIPTION:Hercules Festival of Sport Northwood\nOur Hercules Festival of Sport Northwood is set in the stunning grounds of Merchant Taylors’ School. With its rich\, 450-year history\, the grounds provide a spectacular backdrop to what is our most outstanding event yet. We would love you join us at this well-established and exceptional event on 27 May 2018. \nOur routes will be set in the beautiful surrounds of this historic stately school and in the scenic roads adjoining the estate. Our open water swim events will take place in the picturesque private lake. \nWe are pleased to offer our full range of sporting events from the children’s fun run right up to a Half Iron distance triathlon; there really is something for the whole family at a Hercules Festival of Sport. So why not make a day of it? Sign up your family or friends in a team for one of our many events in the Festival and make it a day to remember. \nAll our adult events are chip timed**\, professionally photographed and you will receive a finisher’s medal and a technical t-shirt for your participation. \nTriathlon\nWe are hosting four open water Triathlon distances at the Festival of Sport Northwood: \n• Novice – 400M/10K/2.5K\n• Sprint – 750M/20K/5K\n• Standard – 1500M/40K/10K\n• Half Iron – 1.9K/100K/20K (8 hour maximum completion time) \nEach wave will start with an ‘in water’ start in the large and sheltered Merchant Taylors private lake. The swim courses will be well marked and there will substantial water safety staff on hand and in the lake for safety and reassurance. After the swim\, it’s just a short dash to the Transition Zone\, which situated in a fully fenced and secure area adjacent to the lake. The bike leg will take you out on the picturesque Hertfordshire roads on interesting\, fast and challenging routes. The run leg is predominately flat and is set within the confines of the stunning Merchant Taylor grounds. The finish\, as always\, is in our sports village where you will receive a hero’s welcome over the line. \nMinimum Age: Novice and Sprint 15+\, Standard 16+ and Half Iron 18+ \nRun\nThere will be 3 run distances at the Hercules Festival of sport Northwood: 1.5K Fun Run\, 5K and 10K. \nWe have created interesting routes through the picturesque private Merchant Taylors’ grounds. Please note the following age restrictions for our run events below: \n• 1.5K -Everyone welcome\n• 5K -11 years +\n• 10K -11 years + \n**1.5K Fun Run is not a chip timed event \nCycling\nWe have an excellent out and back 100KM Cyclo Sportive on offer at the Hercules Festival of Sport Northwood: \n• 100 Kilometres \nOur route takes you out in to the outstanding Hertfordshire countryside\, and into neighbouring counties. Our route will be well marshaled and a feed station will be available on route. We will also provide a free GPX file of the route along with your race day briefing. \nThe beauty of Sportives is that they are for everyone and every standard\, so challenge yourself and ‘go long!’ \nMinimum Age: 16+ \nOpen Water Swimming\nThere will be 2 open water swim races at the festival of Sport Northwood: 3K and 5K. \nOur swim races will take place in the large and sheltered Merchant Taylors private lake. Our swim courses will be well marked and there will substantial water safety staff on hand and in the lake for safety and reassurance. There’s a distance for everyone\, so challenge yourself and challenge your friends! \nMinimum Age: 3K 15+\, 5K 16+ \nAquathlon Open Water\nBack this season we have our two Aquathlon (Swim/Run) distances at our festivals: \n• Sprint – 750M / 5K\n• Standard – 1500M / 10K \nHere at the Festival of Sport Northwood we have an open water lake swim followed by a predominately flat yet challenging run set within the handsome grounds of Merchant Taylors . Given this rural setting\, the run will be a rare treat and there are lots of opportunities for spectators to cheer you on to the finish line and a warm welcome in our Sports Village. \nMinimum Age: Sprint 15+\, Standard 17+ \nDuathlon\nBack by popular demand we have 3 Duathlon distances to offer this season: Novice\, Sprint and Standard. \n• Novice – 2.5k/10k/2.5k\n• Sprint – 5K/20k/2.5K\n• Standard –  10K/40K/5K \nWe have tailored our Duathlons to make sure that there really is a distance for every ability. Both of the Duathlon run legs will be contained within superb grounds of Merchant Taylors. The bike leg will take you out into the surrounding counties of Hertfordshire and Middlesex for a fast and enjoyable road race. \nRoad bikes are recommended for the Hercules Festival of Sport Northwood but by no means compulsory.
