Think of it as like Parkrun for Swim Bike Run. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part. \n\n\n\nGO TRI Local Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off-road course that suitable for all ages & abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. With the opportunities\, we have set out the minimum distances for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped\, so you can do as much or as little that want on the day. eg more experienced people can do a 150m swim\, a 7.5K bike (5 laps of the velopark) and a 2k run which is 3 laps of our run course \n\n\n\nFAMILIES ENCOURAGED\n\n\n\nChildren as young as 6 (provided they can swim 25m) can take part with a responsible adult taking part with them. To book children\, please read our FAQs further down this page first. \n\n\n\nYou start with a pool-based swim\, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth\, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. There is some free parking available starting a few hundred metres from the Leisure Centre. \n\n\n\n\nFAQS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo I need to be a good swimmer or biker\, or runner to take part? \n\nAbsolutely not. You can swim as little as 50m or as much as 200m. You can even stop for a breather if you need to & breaststroke\, front crawl\, and even doggy paddle are all fine. It’s just backstroke that isn’t permitted. Similarly\, on the bike leg\, you’ll find the smooth\, flat tarmac very easy to ride on. And the run is also flat with enough time to walk around if you prefer.\n\n\nHow do I book my children onto GO TRI Local? \nWe have to use the British Triathlon booking system for GO TRI Local. It doesn’t currently have a ‘basket’ system\, but you can book multiple people using the same email address and password. See GO TRI Booking FAQ for more details.\n\n\nIs GO TRI Local every month? \nYes\, they are on the first Saturday of every month (except for May 2022\, where we had to move it forward a week due to a clash with a swimming gala. In the winter months\, we will probably switch the format to a duathlon (run bike run)\, aquabike (swim/indoor bike)\, or aquathlon (swim/run). Here are the first 12 confirmed dates. DESCRIPTION:OVERVIEW\n\n\n\n\nBicton College is a  stunning location for a duathlon\, with quiet local roads & trails and ample free parking. \nThe sprint duathlon\, a British Triathlon European qualifier for 2024\, starts with a 5k mixed terrain run. The bike is an anti-clockwise 22K loop on rolling roads. The final run is an accurately measured out & back 2.5K tarmac run on the first half of the 5k run course. If you’re competing in the qualifier\, you must register as a qualifier on the British Triathlon website. \nThe standard distance duathlon begins with a 10 km 2 lap run on tarmac & gravel paths. The bike leg is 43 km and is two laps of our sprint distance bike course on rolling roads. We suggest you get there early so you will have the chance to ride on the track before the race to warm up.\n\n\n\nHelmets must be worn at all times on the track.\n\n\n\nAll 3 the race will start at 8.45 am and the last competitor should finish by about 11.30am. Don’t worry there is no cut-off time for the run.\n\n\n\nThe race starts with two laps of 9k (or one 5k lap) as shown on the course map.\n\n\n\nThere will be water stations at the start of the second lap.\n\n\n\nAt this point\, you turn left to start your 2nd lap. For the Sprint you head back to the cycle park.\n\n\n\nThe GOTri is a 2.5k run. You will turn just before the bridge and head back down a bridal path.\n\n\n\nIt’s then back onto the track for a 30bike (12 laps) or 20k bike (8 laps) GOTri is 6 laps.\n\n\n\n\nIt’s easy to keep count if you have a speedo. If you don’t have one\, just time your first lap\, then just keep adding that time each time you finish a lap. You will get a bit slower\, but you should still be able to work it out. \n\n\n\nIt’s then back out onto the second run for 1 lap again for the Sprint and long course. The GOTri will turn again at the same place as the first lap just before the bridge. I will be there for the first lap\, directing you. \n\n\n\n\nWhen you run in and out of the cyclopark keep to the side and not run in the middle of the road. There will be a point on the Sprint and Long course race when you will come out on to a road for 400m. Keep tight to the left. It’s a very quiet road\, but you may still get the odd car.\n\n\n\nThere will also be bottles of water to take with you for the second run if you need them.\n\n\n\nThere will be 2 race briefs one at 8.30 for everyone doing the GOTri and at 8.40 am to go over the whole race.\n\n\n\nThe Prize giving will be after the last person has crossed the line.\n\n\n\nDue to the size of each race at the moment\, there will only be 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place trophies for males and females for each distance.\n\n\n\n\nAll our events are covered by BTF and our own Public liability insurance. \n\n\n\nFor information and Maps of the Cyclopark\, go to http://www.cyclopark.com. \n\n\n\nThere is parking and toilets on site\, and the coffee shop is now fully open. SUMMARY:The Bridge Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The race takes place in one of the cleanest lakes in the south of England. The bike course is all on closed roads\, and it is ideal for anyone new to the sport of Triathlon. \n\n\n\nNew for 2019 – we are adding a Go Tri race to this year’s event. \n\n\n\nIn the event of us losing any part of the course we will turn the Triathlon into an alternative event. If we lose the road it will become an Aquabike. If we lose the lake it will become a Duathlon. Sorry no refund will be given as this will be out of our control. Boys and girls may be racing in the same wave. \n\n\n\nThe children’s race is a stand-alone race now. It was too hard to run it after the adult race. \n\n\n\nWe need to have reopened the road by 10 am so all waves will need to start on time. \n\n\n\nWe will be fencing off all areas this year for safety reasons. We will also be moving the Transition area down to the trees to give us more room. The Big South East Swim returns to Dartford for the 6th year running.\nCome and swim in one of the cleanest lakes in the UK. You have 5 swim and 2 Aquathlons distances to choose from. This is the ideal swim venue for beginners and experienced swimmers. \nEvent details\n\nUpon arriving at the Bridge Site\, please make your way to the car park. Then follow the arrows to the swim start that’s about 400 meters away.\nTo find us by Sat Nav the postcode is DA15GA\, and that will take you to the car park\nPlease keep to the pavement as the fast-track bus route will be running all day.\nRegistration will be on the right-hand side on the grass and will open at 8am.\nThere will be changing tents and Toilets on site.\nPlease take care when you exit the lake as the ground will be wet and muddy.\nThe swim will take place in the South Lake at The Bridge. If you need a day license you will now be directed to the British Triathlon website to buy one. This is because they need you name and address for the day license. \n\n\n\nEnter 2024 \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to say that there is no price increase at the moment. Sorry but this may change after Christmas. We try our hardest to keep our entry fees the lowest in the UK\, but every part of our race is going up in price. \n\n\n\nSo whatever happens\, we will still be the best Value full and half-distance race in the UK. \n\n\n\nTo keep the price of the race so low we need almost to fill the race to cover the cost of running the event. If you can help us promote the race in any way that would be great \n\n\n\nWhen I came up with this crazy idea 12 years ago I never thought we would make it to our 12th Year. I would sooner everyone wear one but we can’t make you. If it goes over 22 degrees for the sprint and Standard.\n\n\n\nFor the half and and full if it goes over 24.6 degrees it becomes a no wet suit swim.\n\n\n\nWe do also now a tea wagon coming along. Not sure how long they will stay for as its a long night.\n\n\n\n\nRemember to bring the following to make the race easer for you\n\n\n\n1  Lights on your bike for the Full and half. \n\n\n\n2  Speedo so you can keep an eye on how far you cycled. There will be a lap counter on the  bike and run \n\n\n\n3 There will be a large TV screen by the finish area so you can double check if you lose count. \n\n\n\n4  You will be given a Aid bag at registration to put anything you need during the bike or run. This will by the feed station in number order. It gets very cold at night as we are close to 2 lakes and the river. \n\n\n\n5 We will be giving out HIGH5 on the bike in 750m water bottles and water. \n\n\n\nThe cut-off times are as follows for the full distance.\n\n\n\n\nSwim 8.15pm (2.15)\, Bike 4.30am ( 10.30 hours)\, Finish 11am (17.00)\n\n\n\nThere are no real cut-off times for the other distances as we are there all night.
