SUMMARY:MK24- Midsummer Run 'The return of the Towel'
DESCRIPTION:We’re back for a second year following the huge and fantastic debut of the MK24 at Willen Lake\, Milton Keynes in 2019. It’s going to be bigger and better so sign up now to avoid disappointment. \nThe route follows the Midsummer Ley Line in a number of places and includes many of the key icons of Milton Keynes along the way. \n“OH MY GOODNESS I CAN’T RUN FOR 24 HOURS” \nIt’s not like that. Our motto is “Run it Your Way” and that’s exactly what you can do. Take a break between laps to soak up the event village atmosphere or have a snooze. Its up to you. \nSome I guess will want to run as much as possible\, others in a team of 2-6\, but the aim is to run as much or as little as you like. \nFor example\, each lap consists of 6.55 miles (1/4 Marathon) so if you ever wanted to run a half or full marathon\, all you need to do is complete 2 or 4 laps over the 24-hour period. Or go further and complete 5 laps or more (UKA rules allow over 20s only) for an Ultra Marathon. You can do it in a team\, or as a solo returning to complete another lap when you’re ready. \nIf you only want to do just the one lap\, no problem\, we are all inclusive and everyone who enters receives the bespoke medal for 2020 plus our iconic and much sought after embroidered hand Towel plus\, our now famous distance pin badges for completing 13.1 miles\, 26.2 miles or the Ultra \nI am pleased to announce that we are now inviting juniors between 10 and 18 years to join us at the MK24 ‘Midsummer Run’ in 2020. Juniors will not be permitted to run the entire course but run half laps of approximately 5km. By completing two half laps over the 24 hours\, they will be eligible for the fantastic MK24 medal plus the Iconic embroidered hand towel. We will organise two special group starts at 7pm on Saturday and 4am on Sunday to witness the Sunrise from Beacon Hill. So why not camp out overnight and book a pitch in the campsite and enjoy the atmosphere of the outdoor games zone and if things go to plan\, the outdoor cinema on Saturday evening. We insist that the young people are supervised whilst on site but not necessarily on the run as I guess most of them run faster than us adults. If you wish to join in the fun with your children\, then why not enter too. \nNEW FOR 2020 \nA brand new specially designed bespoke medal\, yet to be unveiled.\nA fourth pin badge\, the ‘Double Marathon’ for those who complete 8 laps or more\nSpecial organised group starts\, including ‘The Start’\, ‘The Sunset’\, ”The Midnight Glow Stick!’\, ‘The Breakfast!’\, ‘The last chance’ and of course the popular ‘Sunrise’ ….. to name but a few.\nEntertainment with live music on Saturday evening followed hopefully by an open-air cinema.\nOutdoor games zone including Rounders\, Boules and more.\nSlightly altered route with bigger and better signage.\nMK24 merchandise for sale from the club shop coming soon.\nCamping will again be available on site\, but pitches will be limited so book your pitch now. Why not enter with your running pals as a team and enjoy camping out under the stars whilst you take it in turns running a lap. \n  \n \nOur partners Freedom Leisure have again this year promised to make their facilities available FREE of charge including the swimming pool\, sauna and showers\, for all participants. Portable Toilets will be available on site\, with other public toilets nearby courtesy of Willen Lake and The Parks Trust. \nWe are working hard in partnership with The Premier Inn at Willen in the hope that rooms will be available at a discounted rate if you would rather sleep in a bed then under canvas\, so watch this space for more updates.\nSnacks\, water and hot drinks will be available FREE of charge. We are delighted to invite you to the first Open Novice Triathlon at Monikie Park\, Angus. Brought to you by the organisers of the 2015 Most Enjoyable Event and the 2016 Event of the Year\, Monifieth Triathlon Club (2017 Club of the Year) \nThe 400m swim in the calm waters of Monikie Park’s north pond\, followed by an opportunity to sample some beautiful scenery with views over Angus and the River Tay during a 12km cycle on quiet country roads round the park\, finishing with a fast 2.5km run around the South ponds of the park makes for a scenic and enjoyable race. Coupled with an amazing post race feast. It would be a brilliant way for novices to transition from pool triathlons to Open water. \n𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙈𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙍𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨\nOur Mixed Team Relay event\, aimed at ages 15+ will take place in and around Monikie Park in a safe and fun environment and is a fantastic spectator event for everyone to enjoy. The Team Relay takes place directly after the completion of the Tri Stars and Youth event and requires 4 team mates to take part . Each athlete completes a 300m open water swim\, 5km bike and 1.25km run before handing their chip over to their next team member. The final team member completes the event by crossing the finish line. The fastest team on the day wins! \nSWIM : The swim will take place from the beach in the north pond\, following a simple 300m course before exiting up the sluice and up the banking before running into T1. This will be a fast course with athletes entering the water continuously throughout the event as each of their team mates passes them their timing chip at the beach changeover. \nBike : The bike starts off at the main transition area before exiting via the south gate\, looping around the outer perimeter of the park in a counter clockwise direction before reentering the park via the south gate. The Team Relay event takes place on open roads however is heavily marshaled as this is a fast and furious event. Athletes only need to complete one single loop of the bike course \nRun : The last leg of the event takes place on the paths between the North and South ponds with the athletes running a fast out and back loop\, The first three of each team will return to the beach changeover zone and the last athlete of each team will finish by running through the finish arch \n𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙠𝙞𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝘼𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙤𝙣\nOur Tristars events\, aimed at children aged 9-14 will take place in and around Monikie Park in a safe and fun environment. \nTristars 1 – Ages 9-10\nTristars 2 – Ages 11-12\nTristars 3 – Ages 13-14 \nSWIM : The swim will take place from the beach in the north pond\, following a safe sheltered course before returning to the beach and into T1 located nearby. There will be ample boats\, kayaks and lifeguards supporting the swim to ensure that all our athletes are cared for and supported throughout the swim leg. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to your nightmare at The Hellstone Marathon we bring devilish hills\, heroic views and epic skies of the course\, but we couldn’t resist including a bit of magical woodland and a stone circle along the way.​ \nWe wanted to send you out into the countryside on an adventure but bring you back safely. \n\nWe wanted to make sure that even if its blowing a hooligan in top of those hills and raining\, its also not minus 5 degrees\, hence its in May. \n Hellstone Marathon is a qualifying race for the UTMB® (1 point) \n\n\nThese races will appeal to those who like to race a tough off-road challenge\, but also with the generous cut-off times\, be accessible to those runners who like to enjoy the scenery on the way round. The sun-soaked stretches of coastline in “Floripa\,” as locals affectionately call it\, make up forty-two beaches in total. Athletes lining up for the event will find themselves in a sanctuary for sports\, natural life and tourism from around the globe. \nThe 2.4-mile mass swim start is located at Jurere Internacional Beach – in front of La Serena Restaurant. This is a fantastic opportunity for young swimming enthusiasts of all ages to come together and compete in teams. Come and test your skills in the water\, and make new friends with others that share your passion for swimming. \nThere are three sessions planned for 2019-20 season: 30 November 2019\, 8 February 2020 and 30 May 2020\, all starting at 8.00am. This season is open to all teams in Phuket and the surrounding areas. The meets will be held at Thanyapura’s 50m Olympic pool\, which will be available from 6.45-7.50am during each session for warm ups. The season costs 400THB per swimmer. \n  \nDATE:\n– 30 November 2019\,\n– 8 February 2020\n– 30 May 2020 \n  \n1. PARTICIPATION.\n3.1 This standard is intended for swimmers in the following categories: 6&U\, 8&U\, 9-10\, 11-12\, 13-14\, and 15-17\, and 18&over\n3.2 Each swimmer may participate in a maximum of THREE individual events per session (excl. relays)\n3.3 Each club may register as many swimmers per event as it wants\, but only the first two swimmers per category will score towards the team score.\n3.4 Each club may register as many relays as it wants. (Only the top relay from each team will score.) \n  \n4. Entries.\n4.1 Entries must be submitted 10 days prior the competition before 20.00. Late entries\nwill be subject to a 500THB late fee per athlete. NO late entries or changes will be\naccepted within 5 days of the competition.\n4.2 Entries fees can be submitted via electronic transfer or cash payments can be\nmade to the front desk prior to the start of the competition.\nEntry deadlines are as follows:\nSession 1 November 20th\nSession 2 January 29th\nSession 3 May 20th\n4.3 The organizer will send the meet program to each participating clubs before 20:00\npm by Thursday prior to the competition. \n  \n5. AWARDS.\n5.1. DESCRIPTION:This race is an officially measured and certified accurate course by the Association of UK Course Measurers. \nCourse\nThe route starts at the close to the Wheatsheaf Inn Wetheral and finishes close to Wetheral Community Hall. Best described as undulating\, the course starts at an elevation of 193ft and has a maximum elevation of 233ft. Athletes are requested to follow the race director’s instructions and be aware of the dangers of cars and cyclist. See HERE for map of route. \nFacilities\nToilets for both male/female are available. Parking is available onsite although there is plenty available in the surrounding streets. A baggage lay down area will be available. Light refreshment such as tea\, coffee etc. will also be available free for competitors and a small charge for spectators. \nRace numbers & race day information\nRace numbers\, timing chips etc. will be issued at race registration. If any updates are required to the race information they will appear on this page as well as the Sport in Action home page. \nRegistration\nRegistration will be open between 17:30 and 18:45. \n  \nRisk Assessment\nA full course risk assessment will be on display at the event HQ on race day together with maps of the route\, the race permit and the measurement certificate in accordance with UKA rules (2020-39118). \nRace safety briefing\nThe race briefing will take place at 18:50 \nPrize presentation\nThe prizes for the 1st 2nd & 3rd Male & Female finishers will take place approximately 20mins after the 3rd Male or Female competitor has finished.
