SUMMARY:Kingfisher Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Where is it?\n\n\n\n\nCoombe Abbey Park\, Coventry\, CV3 2AB\, is run and managed by Coventry City Council. The What 3 Words location is here. \nParking costs up to £5 depending on how long you stay. There is a cafe and toilet block next to the HQ on site. \nCoombe Abbey Park is on the ouskirts of Coventry and 6 minutes from Junction 2 of the M6. The closest train station is Coventry. \n\n\nWhat’s a 6 hour event?\n\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runner to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal and Big Bear drink and go home! Alternatively you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30 having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events or to enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\nCourse description\n\n\n\n\nCoombe Abbey Park is a beautiful venue to run at! The majority of the route is on stone pathways. There is a meadow section on open grassland\, depending on the weather leading up to the the event this could be muddy\, but is unlikely to be. \nGiven the time of year expect hard surfaces\, lots of tree cover and some spectacular running! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\nBefore 30/08/2025 £38\nAfter 30/08/2025 £43\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! \n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo\, our canicross season runs from mid-October to March. \n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile lap at Coombe Abbey Park means your race can be just over 5k or\, given the relatively flat nature of the course\, potentially 50+ miles! You decide how many laps you are going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance you’ll need to complete 8 laps and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\n\n\nDo I have to raise money or run for charity?\n\n\n\n\nNo… BUT! \nWe have a great partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. They provide specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children. There are currently over 200 Roald Dahl Nurses caring for more than 40\,000 seriously ill children. \nDuring the sign-up process\, you can opt to set up a Just Giving page to raise money for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity or to make a small donation alongside your entry fee – 100% of that goes straight to the charity to help with their amazing work. \nWe want to help them ensure every seriously ill child has a Roald Dahl Nurse. \nIf you want to find out a little more about our partnership\, click here. \nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\n\nWe’ve visited Coombe Abbey many times before! In 2025\, the Kingfisher Challenge won a Gold Award from Racecheck\, look here! You can find the previous results here. \n\n\n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event.\n\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6-hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about!. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\n\nWe like to think so! Once it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal…\n\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Earth Runs will be perfect! Rather than give you a medal you don’t really want (and to help reduce waste) we’ll give you a Big Bear Tree Token. Not only will a tree be planted for each token given out but the token is also full of wildflower seeds for you to grow at home! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIs this event suitable for Rucking?\n\n\n\n\nDefinitely! Read all about how we do rucking here (or if you’ve no idea what rucking is find out here too!) \n\n\n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThe route may be subject to last-minute changes\, and there will be plenty of markings up on race day\, so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Centurion Running | Wendover Woods 50
DESCRIPTION:The WW50 is a 50-mile foot race consisting of 5 x 10-mile loops on forest trails\, entirely within Wendover Woods. The course mixes some of the most enjoyable trail running to be found anywhere\, with wide\, soft trails\, smooth descents\, and runnable climbs. These sections are contrasted with some much steeper ascents and descents scattered throughout the loop. Runners will work hard for a finish at this race\, which will also act as the fourth and final event in the 50 Mile Grand Slam. \n \n\nGeneral Info\n\n\nEntries\nEntries for 2026 will open at 1000 on Saturday\, 6th December 2025. Places are open on a first-come\, first-served basis. There is no waiting list\, and there are no entries on the day. The exception is for those who volunteered over 8 hours of service in 2025 and requested a guaranteed 2026 entry. \nThe entry fee is £115. \nRunners may also enter the event as part of the 50-mile Grand Slam. To take part in the Slam\, runners can enter each event individually\, or buy a Grand Slam ticket\, which gets you entry to all four 50 Mile Slam events. Information on the Grand Slam\, and how to enter it can be found by clicking here. \nQualification Standard\nIn order to enter\, you must have completed a minimum of a marathon distance race within the cut-off time of that event between 1st January 2021 and race day. As organisers\, we reserve the right to refuse entry to anybody who does not meet this standard. Unqualified runners may enter but will be contacted approximately 8 weeks prior to the race to verify qualification plans if they have not updated their online information by this time. \nClick here to read more about what counts as a qualifier. \nCut Offs\nRunners must finish the course within a 15-hour time limit. There are additional cut-offs on the route which can be found in the aid station table. \nStart/ Finish Location\nRegistration\, Start & Finish are in ‘Trig Point Field’\, Aston Hill\, Halton\, Aylesbury\, HP22 5NQ. The field is opposite Aston Hill Bike Park. \nRoute\nThe race route consists of 5 x 10-mile loops on forest trails and tracks within Wendover Woods\, woodland operated by Forestry England. \nA map of the route and a downloadable GPX file can be found at the bottom of this page. Runners will make 4 visits there before finishing at the end of their 5th loop. The Hale Lane Aid Station falls at mile 5.5 of each lap and will therefore also be visited 5 times. A full list of the distances at which the aid stations fall and the respective cut-off times can be found here. \nThe aid stations are well stocked with provisions suitable for all dietary requirements. If you suffer an injury or accident that warrants direct medical attention\, the medics will be on hand to provide you with exactly that. Contact numbers and full details of what to do in an emergency will be given to you in the pre-race information packs and again at race registration. Due to the nature of the course\, ie\, some remote and far from roads\, the medics may take some time to reach you\, or potentially be out of contact tending to other runners. In those instances\, you should contact the emergency services on 999 AS WELL AS the race medics. Full instructions on what to do in an emergency can be found in the infopacks. \nKit\n99% of the course is on trail\, therefore\, trail shoes are advised\, particularly given the time of year. There are sections of trail which can become very muddy in wet conditions. The course takes a number of steep ascents and descents\, many of which will become hard going in wet conditions\, particularly as the race progresses. These sections must be negotiated carefully in both the dry and the wet. Given the time of year\, the threat of exposure is very real. Runners must carry the following mandatory equipment at all times. \nThere are many options regarding kits for fulfilling these requirements and those of other events. We stock what we believe to be the best options at our online store available by clicking here. Please ask us if you have any questions. \n\nFully Charged Mobile Phone\, including the numbers for the Race Medic and Race Director (on the number you have given at registration)\nSurvival Blanket: 1.4m x 2m minimum\nWhistle\nWaterproof Jacket: Gore-Tex or similar\, minimum 10000mm+ & must have sealed seams.\nWarm Hat – Beanie Hat or Buff (either is accepted)\nGloves\nLong-sleeved base layer or fleece top – This must be carried separately from the start and kept dry\, for use only in an emergency. Soft cups are available at the store here.\nAny runner starting any loop after 1300 must take a primary light source/ head lamp out with them on the course – Minimum 100 Lumens\nAny runner starting any loop after 1300 must take a Back Up Light source out with them on the course – Minimum 100 Lumens\n\nCourse Map\n\n\n\n\nRoute

SUMMARY:Going Round in Circles
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to put the fun back into running!\n\nWelcome to Go Beyond Challenge’s ‘Going Round in Circles’ – the London Circle Line Challenge. As the name suggests\, the aim is to run between every underground station on the Circle Line (the yellow one!) – all 27 of them. \nEntrants can take part as a pairs relay team of two or individually if they fancy a bigger challenge. The race will start at the Gails Bakery next to Paddington Station\, where runners will be able to collect their race number and tracker. \nYou will then set off either on an anticlockwise or clockwise run around the Central Line\, collecting a selfie – as proof – at each of the 27 stations. \nIf you are in a pairs relay team\, one runner will go to the Tube Station and grab a daily travel card and travel to your next meeting/swapover point on the Circle Line train while the other will run to meet you there. It’s then time to swap the tracker (your baton) for the travel card and agree on your next relay swapover/meeting point. \nThe distance between stations varies from 0.2 miles to 1.2 miles. The overall distance to run will be around 16 miles. There are no checkpoints\, but plenty of shops! If you are injured or have had enough\, then you can grab the tube back to the start. \nThere will be a special Circle Line Challenge medal for all finishers and the chance to grab a cake and a coffee as we finish in the bakery. \n\nCourse Description\nThe event will be run in either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction\, with entrants deciding on the day which way they will go. The course includes 27 stations on the original Circle Line in central London. The overall distance is around 16 miles\, depending on the route you take! You will need to take a selfie at each station to prove your visit – we can check these on your phone at the finish. \nCourse Marking\nThe course isn’t marked and requires some navigation. We provide a tracker with an indicative route and a sheet with the what3words location for each station – how you get there is up to you! \nCheckpoints and Aid Stations\nThere are no checkpoints\, just lots of shops if you need a drink or snack! \nAwards\nAll finishers will receive a medal. \n\nRegistration and Start Time\nRegistration opens at 09.00 am and closes at 11:00 am\, when you will collect your race number and tracker. You will need to confirm your mobile phone number. \nAfter you have registered\, you can start whenever you are ready before 11:00 am. \nAge Limit\nYou must be at least 17 years old to enter the individual race\, which involves running 16 miles in one day.
