SUMMARY:Surrey Bacchus Marathon 2021
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate fancy wine\, fancy dress\, and plenty of running in this event at Denbies Wine Estate. With a hog-roast\, wine at drinks stations\, and stunning routes along the way\, this is so much more than just a race. Enjoy live music\, great food\, and a fantastic atmosphere at the Surrey Bacchus Marathon. \nRoute description\nThis undulating\, multi-terrain course takes place within and around the stunning Denbies Wine Estate. All routes offer beautiful views over the Mole Valley\, Ranmore Common and the North Downs\, and runners are welcome to run as quickly as possible or take their time and enjoy the wine sampling stations on the route. \nThe drinks stations are what separates this event from all the others. Not just any old drinks stations\, the last 2 along the route serve wine and food and soft drinks\, and with marathon runners completing 2 laps\, that means double the wine. After the race\, enjoy the hog roast\, where the party carries on well into the evening. \nA completely traffic-free course\, all routes start and finish by the main building at Denbies\, and there’s only one crossing of a major road which marshals will direct. \nHalf Marathon runners will complete 1 lap and Marathon runners 2 laps. \nLogistics and schedule\n08:15 Registration opens \n09:30 Marathon starts \n09:45 1st Half Marathon wave starts \n10:00 2nd Half Marathon wave starts \n10:15 3rd Half Marathon wave starts \n10:30 4th Half Marathon wave starts \n10:45 5th Half Marathon wave starts \n11:00 1st 10k wave starts \n11:15 2nd 10k wave starts \nIt is recommended you arrive at least an hour before your start time to give you time to collect your number in the morning. \nRegistration \nRegistration will be open from 8:15 am on race day\, where runners can collect their race numbers. \nRegistration will take place in the large marquee next to the main building of Denbies\, which will also be the site of the Hog Roast after the event. \nStart Waves \nThere are 5 waves of Half Marathon start times of 400 runners each. Waves will start at 9:45 am in 15-minute increments all the way until 10:45 am. A preferred start wave will be chosen by runners when registering for the event. \nThe 10k has two waves starting at 11 am and 11:15 am. \nCut-off Times \nThere are a strict 2 hours 50-minute cut-off time for the first lap of the Marathon\, and all runners must be able to run a 5 hr 30 mins time. Any runners unable to complete the first lap in this time will be asked to stop and given a Half Marathon finisher’s medal. \nFancy Dress \nMost participants show up in a fancy dress to participate in this fun and friendly event\, so don your best clothes and enjoy the live music and entertainment around the course. \nT-Shirt Sizes \nT-shirts are included in the price of entry for Marathon and Half Marathon runners but not 10k runners. Although runners may encounter some mud\, most of the courses will be run on well-drained\, sandy soil\, allowing runners to enjoy their running on flat and reliable surfaces. All the races will occur in the dark\, creating a wonderful and unique experience for all competitors. The courses will all be well marked with poles\, arrows and flashing lights. \nKids 1k and 2k \nBoth races will take part exclusively within the grounds of Bicton College. \n5k \nThe 5k route is new for 2022\, and although 3k of this race will take place on the tarmac\, it is on tranquil country lanes where there will be little to no traffic. The race will be a combination of these on-road sections and a few grand and varied off-road areas. \n10k \nThe 10k has the same start and finish as the 5k\, with the extra distance coming from a complete loop of Woodbury Common\, which includes a fun single track section. This race happens in Summer which is an amazing time to race in the UK. \nUltra X Wales takes place in and around southern Snowdonia in western Wales. Snowdonia National Park was established in 1951 as the third national park in Britain and it contains the highest peaks in the United Kingdom outside of Scotland. \nThis unique and challenging course takes participants from the northern Cambrian mountains to southern Snowdonia\, following a number of famous trails – including the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail\, the Wales Coastal Path\, the Minffordd Path and the Cross Britain Path – as it weaves its way over the stunning lakes and mountains for which southern Snowdonia is famous\, including the Cadair Idris\, Rhinogydd and Aran Fawddwy ranges.

This is a prime opportunity to hunt down a PB if you’re after one. \nParticipants will head off down Picadilly\, before looping north up Regents Street. Through Pall Mall\, you’ll run past St James’s Palace\, then heading east Towards Trafalgar Square. A beautiful stretch along the river at Embankment culminates at Westminster Bridge\, and you’ll finish off the race down Whitehall\, after looping around Parliament Square. \nAs you race along the course there will be a variety of music every 450m ranging from reggae/funk to disco.

Come along for a test of endurance like no other. \n\nSnowdon 24 Challenge route\n\n\n\nThe hiking challenge of all hiking challenges – athletes either individually or as a team must ascend and descend England and Wales highest peak as much as they can in 24 hours. \nThe course begins in Llanberis Village and will take you up the Llanberis path\, which is a 15KM out and back route. The course will take passed the famous Half Way House\, Allt Moses and Clogwyn Bridge. \nThe winner will be those who have completed as climbs as possible and there are three race categories: \nSolo Entry\nPair Relay Entry\nTeam Relay Entry \nThere will be rest areas on site. Always Aim High will be given their own shelter\, Pair Relays will be given space for one shelter between the pair (2 person tent)\, and teams will be given space to pitch a 3 person tent. \nBetween 9 PM and 8 AM\, there will be no music or noise\, while the rest area will be a silent zone for the duration of the 24 hours.

Our aim is to allow access to the outdoors in a relatively controlled and safe environment. \nTogether we have a combined experience of over 60 years in the outdoor industry\, from managing an outdoor company in Scotland\, to owning one in New Zealand. We have extensive event management experience and have worked the white waters of Venezuela\, Colorado\, New Zealand\, Scotland and lead multi-pitch rock climbing & ice climbing. Bring the whole family for a day of fun by the coast. \n\nHoniton Triathlon route\n\n\n\nSwim Route \nThe pool will be split into 5 lanes and there will be 2 competitors per lane. All competitors will swim 16 lengths which total 400m. \nBike Route \nThis 20km cycle will take you out\, and then back towards race HQ. On the return to Honiton\, competing cyclists will return to the transition area by turning left at the Fire Station onto Northcote Lane. \nRun Route \nThis scenic 5k run will take you over the River Otter and up into Combe Hill Woods.
