SUMMARY:The International Marathon Alexander the Great
DESCRIPTION:Today in every corner of the world thousands of Marathons take place\, making the sport\, the one with the most participants in the planet while in the same time the word “Marathon” is the only common word in every spoken dialect globally. \nThe International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” covers the route from Pella\, the ancient capital of Macedonia and birthplace of the great Marshal\, until Thessaloniki\, the modern Greek metropolis of Macedonia. \nThe Marathon that bears as a symbol\, one of the most recognized faces of the humanity\, ALEXANDER THE GREAT\, isn’t’ just a big and international sports event\, but also a route in the history\, a route full of Greece\, from the ancient Greek civilization until today. The first International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” took place on the 16th of April 2006 and was the result of a vision of sports\, social and cultural bodies from every part of Greece. \nMEAS TRITON of Thessaloniki was licensed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and was sponsored by the Hellenic Athletics Federation\, the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO\, as well as with the collaboration of multiple bodies\, institutional supports. \nMEAS TRITON of Thessaloniki organizes the top for North Greece event\, with sports\, social\, cultural\, environmental\, touristic and above all historical importance\, an event that is an excellent ambassador of our town\, of Macedonia\, and of our whole country\, in the planet. \nThe International Marathon is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS)\, and is incorporated regularly within the official annual international calendar\, denying in the same time the right of every other Marathon in the globe to use the name of Alexander the Great. \nDetails \nStarting Time: 08:00 \nThe Marathon route is of low difficulty. Its main characteristics are the small altitude fluctuations and the long straight street that make it ideal for great records. Some other characteristic features are its constant east direction\, the long straight street and the limited inhabited areas which it crosses until almost the 30th kilometer. \nThe race starts from Pella\, in front of the statue of Alexander the Great on horseback\, hardly a km from the homonym archaeological site\, and some 43 meters above sea-level. After the first km of downhill road\, the athletes get onto the Thessaloniki-Edessa highway\, following it for another 8 km\, until they reach Chalkidona. \nAt the 8th km the athletes enter the city of Chalkidona.\nAt the 9th km they meet the junction to Veroia and Thessaloniki.\nThe 10th km is right after Chalkidona.\nAt the 13th km the road passes through a bridge over Axios River.\nThe 15th km is before the village Gefyra.\nThe 20th km is right after the exit for Agios Athanasios at the national highway.\nThe 25th after the crossroad of Nea Agchialos.\nThe 28th km passes over Gallikos River.\nAt the 30th km the athletes pass by Ionia (Diavata)\nThe 35th km is in the center of Kordelio\, in Monastiriou Street.\nAt the 38th km the athletes turn right in Giannitson Street.\nAt the 39th the runners turn right in Dafnis Street and then left in Kountouriotou Avenue.\nThe 40th km is at the Courts of Thessaloniki.\nThe 41st km and 42nd km run Nikis Avenue.\nThe finish is at Thessaloniki coastal road – Megalou Alexandrou Avenue (Alexander the Great Statue)

SUMMARY:Sungai Menyala Forest Trail 2018
DESCRIPTION:Sungai Menyala Forest Trail 2018\nOne of the fastest races on the Asia Trail Master Championship calendar has opened the registration for next year’s edition\, scheduled for 1 April 2018. Sungai Menyala Forest Trail offers a 50 km trail in dense ancient rainforest and is also one of the more accessible races with Port Dickson being just an hour’s drive away from Kuala Lumpur. \nThe event also has shorter distances on its menu for the less ambitious runners\, or indeed for people who would like to get a first taste of running on trails as opposed to running on roads. For the ATM Championship\, though\, it is the 50K that matters with the standard 500 points to be scored by the winners (100 finisher points\, 400 performance points). \nFilipino runners set Sungai Menyala alight last April 2017 with ATM Champion Manolito Divina beating a star-filled race including the likes of Steven Ong\, Arief Wismoyono and Pablo Diago Gonzales. In the women’s\, Sandi Menchi scored one of her three ATM race victories this season ahead of Jessica Lintanga and Jeri Chua. Also in 2018 race director Razif Yahya expects an influx of fast trail runners into Port Dickson\, especially the the introduction of new single 50km route. \nCLOSING DATE: 15TH MARCH

SUMMARY:Acea Maratona di Roma (Roma Marathon)
DESCRIPTION:Acea Maratona di Roma (Roma Marathon)\nIf you’re looking for the ideal combination of athletic challenges and a great weekend of sightseeing\, Acea Maratona di Roma@Rome Marathon is the place to go. Held annually in March\, when pleasant temperatures exceed hot days and the herds of tourists haven’t arrived yet\, Rome Marathon attracts more and more runners each year. On March 18 2012\, when Rome Marathon took place\, over 12\,000 runners finished the race with Kenyan Luka Lokobe Kanda crossing the finish line first clocking in at 2:08:04.As a participant in the Rome Marathon\, you get to drink in the city’s historic atmosphere right from the beginning. \nThe start line is placed in front of the 2\,000 year old Coliseum\, and from here the course is a veritable festival of magnificent sights. Among other things\, you will run past Saint Peter’s Basilica\, the Trevi Fountain\, Piazza Navona\, the Spanish Steps and through a lot of picturesque\, narrow streets in the old part of the city. So\, remember your camera but leave your PB aspirations at home – you need time to appreciate all the breathtaking landmarks and to conquer the cobblestones\, that cover about half the route. The course is surprisingly flat for a city built on seven hills\, but the sometimes uneven cobblestone streets\, which in the narrowest places can feel quite crowded\, may add a few extra minutes to your finish time. \nAge Limit\nIf you reside in Italy you must be 20 or older on the race day. If you do not reside in Italy you must be 18 or older on the race day. \nMaximum Time\nAnyone who does not reach the half marathon within 3:45 and 35km within 6 hours from the gunshot start will be asked by the judges to stop.

The Walker’s Zone gear check is located on Howe Street and will remain open until 9:30 a.m. \nRemember there’s no need to sneak into a faster start zone. With the timing system\, your time begins when YOU cross the start line. \nBands at the start area will entertain you until the last walker leaves. \nWalker’s Pit Stop\nBoost your energy level! Fuel up with fruit and water at your very own Walkers Pit Stop (located between the 3K and 4K mark) to help you get to the finish line.
