SUMMARY:Skyline Mountain Marathon\, Half Marathon & 55K Run
DESCRIPTION:Skyline Mountain Marathon\nThank you for taking the time check out the Skyline Mountain Marathon. This is not an average marathon. With it’s quad burning course\, almost 5000 ft climbing\, and the mind blowing views\, this is one race you will never forget. Don’t believe us? Just ask someone who has run it. \nLet’s not beat around the bush\, the full marathon distance of the Skyline Mountain Marathon is brutal. That being said\, it is one of the most beautiful trail running events you will ever participate in. \nStarting near North Fork Park\, Liberty UT\, the course points directly uphill. In the shadow of the famous Ben Lomond Peak\, yes famous\, you will twist and turn on the switchbacks for 6 miles before arriving at the “saddle” where you will connect to the Skyline Trail and be greeted by Aid Station #1. \nFrom Aid Station #1 runners will turn southeast and head toward the North Ogden Divide. This section of the trail is fast and almost completely downhill. At different points on this trail you will have views reaching all the way to the Salt Lake Valley. \nAid Station #2 will be located at mile 12.1. \nFrom Aid Station #2 your quads will hate you because you point up hill again. Following the South Skyline Trail\, runners will head south toward Windsurfers Beach. \nAid Station #3 will be located at the top of this climb\, roughly 3 miles from Aid Station #2. Aid Station #3 offers a beautiful view of Ogden Valley\, just before you start to head downhill toward Pineview Reservoir. \nAid Station #4 is located at the Windsurfers Beach. From here you will face what many call the most torturous section of the entire race. You will follow the Pineview Trail along the shoreline of Pineview Reservoir\, connect to the North Arm trail and finish in “downtown” Eden at Eden Park. \nRules & Regulations \nDropping Out\nIf for some reason you need to withdrawal from the race\, you need to let the volunteers at the aid station know. We so not recommend withdrawing while up on the skyline trail. If you do that\, you will still need to walk down. If you are unable to go further\, ask another runner to inform the aid station that you are in need of help. In this situation search and rescue will be called out to extract you from the mountain. \nDogs\nI know this is a tough subject on both sides\, but the answer is no. Dogs are not allowed to run with you during the event. We love them to\, but there is just to much potential for problems. And yes\, we know your dog would never do that and is the best behaved dog on the trail\, but even if this really is the case\, the answer is still not. Feel free to bring them on all your training runs\, just dont bring them on race day. Thanks for understanding. \nPacers\nPacers are welcome to run with you from Aid Station #2 (North Ogden Divide Parking Lot). But they can not start with you. And if they are pacing you please remind them that they did not pay for the race\, so please go easy on the aid station grub. \nHeadphones\nHeadphones are welcome\, but we recommend that you keep them at a decent volume or keep one ear free\, so you can hear whats going on around you. We don’t want you to wet yourself when someone comes up behind you or even worse\, not hear a rattle snake or a moose that has it out for you. \nThere will be food\, goodies\, music and good times to be had at the finish line. \nPricing\n55k: $115\nFull Marathon: $100\n1/2 Marathon: $90

SUMMARY:Monster Trail Marathon & Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Monster Trail Marathon & Half Marathon\nAbout \nThese trail races use the Cayuga and Finger Lakes Trails to provide views of some of the most beautiful gorges in Ithaca\, NY. The course consists of two identical out-and-backs of 13.1 miles each\, starting at Robert H. Treman State Park and traversing mostly single-track trails. Don’t let the fact that the races start in a park fool you—the course includes its fair share of roots\, rocks\, steps\, briars\, steep climbs\, and quad-pounding descents. \nThe Monster Marathon and Half-Marathon feature age/sex-based early starts. Men under age 38 start with the race clock\, but women and older men head off early\, with the individual handicaps determined by the World Masters Athletics Age-Graded Tables. The win could come down to a kick to the finish between a 65-year-old grandmother (101-minute head start) and her 40-year-old son (4-minute head start). \nThe Monster Marathon and Half Marathon are part of the FLRC Trail Circuit\, and results are included in the annual Pebblehead/Stonehead/Boulderhead rankings. \nWhere:\nThe first pavilion (near the playground) at Robert H. Treman Park\, 105 Enfield Falls Road\, Ithaca\, NY 14850. Be prepared to pay an $8 New York State Parks admission fee. \nWhen:\nBoth races have age/sex-staggered head starts; please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time. The race clock starts at 8 AM for the marathon and 9 AM for the half-marathon. \nRegistration:\nOnline pre-registration is required and is open until the end of the day on August 13th. Treman Park.\n– Coffee and breakfast items will be available before the race.\n– Well-stocked aid stations are located 3–4 miles apart on the course.\n– Lunch provided at the finish for all runners; family and spectators may purchase a meal for $20.\n– Results will be made available shortly after the race via Webscorer; visit the FLRC Web site for full results later.\n– This race is part of the Finger Lakes Trail Circuit\, for all you Pebbleheads\, Stoneheads\, and Boulderheads. \nAwards:\nThe award ceremony takes place shortly after the race\, with awards in the following categories: \nFirst overall male and female \nFirst in each of these age groups\, male and female:\n1–10\, 11–18\, 19–29\, 30–39\, 40–49\, 50–59\, 60–69\, and 70+ \nWarning!\n– Those running the full marathon must be trained for ultra-marathon effort!\n– Look for trail markers or you could end up off course! As with all trail runs\, it’s on you to pay attention.\n– Unlike road races\, the footing is not level. It is uneven and can be dangerous. A fall or injury is possible.\n– Insect bites\, mud\, treacherous footing\, forest monsters\, and vehicles at road crossings are possible hazards.\n– Heat could be a problem this time of year; if so\, carry fluids and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion! \nPolicies:\n– Full marathoners finishing the first out-and-back after 11 AM will not be allowed to continue!\n– No dogs\, headphones\, or jogging strollers. These make the race dangerous for everyone.\n– The race directors reserve the right to reject any entry for any reason.\n– Entry fees are non-refundable\, even if the race is canceled because of an act of nature or mankind.\n– This race is organized by the Finger Lakes Runners Club and insured by the Road Runners Club of America.

SUMMARY:Fleetwood Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Fleetwood Half Marathon 2017\nThe Fleetwood Half Marathon is a flat\, rural\, one-lap race running along the Lancashire Walkways and Fleetwood promenades. Set to take place on the 20th of August\, be sure to secure your spot now while there is still time. \nREGISTRATION\nYour running number needs to be collected from the Race Makers on the day from the race venue. Registration opens at 8.00am. Please bring your email confirmation or payment receipt with you when collecting your race pack (which includes pins to attach your running number to the front of your running top) to ensure a swift collection process. You should arrive in plenty of time to avoid queues. There is an enquiry desk if you have any problems or questions about the event. \nRACE VENUE\nThe race venue is the Beach Road Car Park\, Fleetwood FY7 8PG. The race HQ is clearly signed. Registration and late entries are located with the marquee within the gardens. Baggage storage is also clearly marked. There are no changing or showering facilities\, however you can use the YMCA Leisure Centre\, which is located next door for a charge. \nHOW TO GET TO THE RACE\nBy Car: Exit the M55 at junction 3 and follow the A585 and signs for Fleetwood. Drive past the Freeport Shopping Village and the former Port. Pass the Marine Hall Gardens (former venue) on the right hand side and continue down the Esplanade. The race HQ is located on the right hand side at the roundabout with Beach Road. \nRACE FACILITIES\nThere are several car parks on the Esplanade for use on the day. The car parks will be clearly signed. Please park legally at all times. Council Parking Enforcement Officers operate throughout the day. Number collection\, baggage storage\, race help desk and toilets are all located with the Marine Hall Gardens. \nRACE DAY ITSELF\nArrive in plenty of time to allow you to park; collect your running number; get changed and visit the toilet etc. Just before the start the toilets become busy so plan your visit carefully. When you have your running number\, fill in the medical information section on the back. Be careful not to damage or lose your number\, as replacements will not be issued. If there is a risk of you blacking out during the race (for example if you suffer from fits)\, put a red cross on the front of your number. Pin your number on your FRONT without folding or covering it – it needs to be seen by the Race Makers. Do not pass your running number on to anybody else without first notifying registration – this is to ensure the results are correct and for obvious safety\, insurance and medical reasons. When you are happy that you are ready to run\, make your way to the start area. The start location is clearly marked by the inflatable archway. Line up behind the start line\, where there will be a few safety announcements before the race starts at 10.00am sharp. The route you are running on is open to the public so be aware of pedestrians and cyclists. We advise that you do not wear iPods or similar devices whilst running. You may not hear stewards or indeed fellow runners if they need help! At the finish you will be awarded with your runners medal. Water will be available along with medics\, should they be required. \nWATER STATIONS & COURSE AID\nWater stations are located at 3.6 miles\, 6.01 miles\, 7.6 miles and 10.03 miles on the route. Bottled water is available to all runners. The bottle cap will be removed before being passed to you. The station will be clearly signed. Please try and drop your bottles as soon as possible so we don’t litter the course too much. It also helps the crew at the stations to pick the bottles up quicker. A water station is also located at the finish area. Medics are available throughout the course on bikes and at the finish. If you get into any difficulties on the course you should alert a steward or medic who will be able to help you. \nDROPPING OUT\, SLOWER RUNNERS & WALKING\nIf you have to drop out for any reason\, and you cannot make your own way back to the race venue to collect your belongings\, then make your situation known to a course steward or a member of the medic crew. Arrangements will be made to pick you up and bring you back. Priority will be made in cases of injury or illness. If you are very slow\, but are determined to finish\, on-course facilities may become less available. Our team at the rear of the field will endeavour to give you support and advice. At some point\, perhaps through tiredness\, cramp\, blisters\, etc\, you may be forced to walk. If this happens you must move as far to the left hand side as possible to allow runners to overtake. \nWHAT IF I AM ILL OR INJURED\nYou must be fit and well to compete in the event. Severe exertion during or soon after any illness is extremely dangerous. Do not take any chances with your health. If you find yourself in this situation you must withdraw. But do not despair! Email us at least 7 days before the race and we can defer your entry to the following year for free so you do not lose your entry fee. \nInfo\nThe Race starts behind the Registration and Venue Marquees on the outer seawall walkway and runs along Fleetwood’s Outer Promenade and Esplanade with great views over Morecambe Bay. \nIt is a perfect race for runners of all abilities with a fun and friendly atmosphere. A warm FCR welcome awaits everyone. It is also very flat and certified accurately measured. \nRace HQ\nThe event headquarters is at the Beach Road Car Park\, Fleetwood FY7 8PG. There is a car park here\, but does fill up quickly. There are an additional two car parks just North a bit further along the Esplanade. At race HQ you will find the registration desks where you can collect your race numbers\, an enquiry desk if you have any questions\, toilets\, and baggage storage. Changing and shower facilities are available at the adjacent leisure centre for a small charge. \nEntry \nEntry into the event is open to everyone of all abilities as long as you are aged over 17 on the day of the race. Online entry is the quickest method and we do not charge a transaction or handling fee for debit/credit cards. \n– The entry fee is £17 for UKA/ARC Club Members and £19 if you do not run for a club.\n– There may be entries available on the day (don’t risk it though)\, and these will be charged £5 extra.\n– Postal entries will not be accepted. \nPrizes\nAll runners receive a commemorative medal at the finish line\, along with drinks and snacks to help you recover from your run. Individual race winners are awarded prizes in the following categories: \n– First 3 Male winners in the race \n– First 3 Lady winners in the race \n– First Male Veteran over 40/45/50/55/60/65/70+ \n– First Lady Veteran over 35/40/45/50/55/60/65+ \nThe awards presentation will take place at approximately 12.30pm at the registration area.

SUMMARY:Oxford Classic 1 Mile Swim
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Classic 1 Mile Swim\nSwim Oxford is passionate about bringing you stunning open water swimming events in and around Oxford. From the Oxford Classic Mile to the marathon 10k Lock to Lock swim. Swim Oxford aims to cater for all abilities from those new to open water swimming through to experienced swimmers wanting to stretch themselves with a serious long distance swim. \nEvent Details\nYou will be swimming upstream\, so against the gentle flow of old Father Thames\, or Isis at this point. In September there is very little flow on the river\, but a more adventurous experience will be gained by all. \nSetting off from Donnington Bridge you will be swimming upstream towards Christ Church Meadows\, passing the historic bathing spot at Long Bridges on the left. All swimmers will be on the right hand side of the river in a well marked course and escorted by safety canoeist. You will swim past\, on your right the nature reserve\, know as Aston’s Eyot. Aston’s Eyot is a 33-acre island on the east bank of the River Thames in the city of Oxford\, southeast of Christ Church Meadow. \nMaking your way past the famous boat houses on the right \, heading towards the finish\, you will be faced with a large River Buoy\, a final turn around this and head back down stream towards the platform where you will exit. Once out of the water make your way to the changing tents and Swim Oxford refreshments tent. Enjoy this location in all its splendour within the heart of Oxford. \nFAQ \nDoes the river have a fast flow?\nThe flow differs from one day to the next based on factors such as rain fall\, opening of locks etc. The flow is generally fairly slow. \nWhich side of the river should I swim on?\nThe Environment Agency\, who grant us permission to run the Lock to Lock events\, ask that swimmers stay to the right of the river wherever possible. Boats and other river users also navigate on the right so\, as river users\, we need to adhere to the same rules. There are occasions when it is safer to swim closer to the middle of the river. On some of the tree-lined sections of the course there can be obstacles such as submerged branches and tree roots that could be dangerous or cause injury if snagged. Our safety kayakers will help alert you to these obstacles en-route. \nDo I have to wear a wetsuit?\nWetsuits are mandatory for this event unless you are an experienced open water swimmer and have our permission\, in writing\, in advance to swim without. \nWill I be safe in the water?\nSafety is our utmost concern. We have safety kayakers paddling with you along the length of the course and we have spotters on the shore. We also have medics at the event should you require any medical attention. \nWhat if I feel I can’t finish the swim?\nWe hope that everyone will have trained enough to complete the full length of the course. However we do realise that this may be the first time some participants have swum this distance in a river and we will have support boats nearby should you experience any difficulties. There will also be exit points along the course. \nIs the water clean?\nThe water will be tested to environmental safety standards before the swim. In 2015 the water test passed with a “high” cleanliness rating. \nWhat will the water temperature be?\nThe water temperature will very much depend on weather conditions leading up to the event. In September 2015 the water temperature was 15-17 degrees centigrade. \nIs there a chance of becoming ill during the swim?\nPublic Health England publish a leaflet on the risk of illness when open water swimming\, which can be viewed here. We always follow these guidelines and have never become unwell during or after swimming this stretch of the Thames. Public Health England recommend “before you swim to cover cuts\, scratches or sores with a waterproof plaster before swimming\, consider wearing appropriate protective clothing such as a wetsuit\, gloves and/or protective footwear. While you are swimming try to avoid swallowing and/or splashing water into your mouth\, observe local safety advice. After swimming ensure you clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water after swimming and before handling/eating food\, thoroughly clean cuts or abrasions using soap and water\, handle your wetsuit with care after use\, rinse it with clean water as soon as is practicable after swimming\, clean with detergent and rinse as advised by the manufacturer\, always wash your hands with soap and water after handling or cleaning your wetsuit and allow the suit to dry thoroughly before reuse.” \nWhere can I park?\nCar parks will be either at the Sea Scouts field next door to the Falcon Rowing club site and/or Freelands Road\, opposite to Falcon Rowing club near Donnington Bridge. \nSo I park at the start of the swim course.
