SUMMARY:Clarendon Marathon and Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Marathon and Half Marathon\nClarendon Marathon and Half Marathon; Salisbury to Winchester: Running or Walking \nOverview: \nIf you are looking for a marathon which is off road\, picturesque and challenging then running the Clarendon is the ultimate. Our route takes you from Salisbury to Winchester along the ancient Clarendon Way with a few extra turns here and there to make up a full 26.2 miles. More than 90% is off road\, with the trail following country tracks and paths – many of which have not changed since being travelled by the ancient Kings and Queens of England. \nIn addition to the full marathon distance\, we also have a half marathon event and this year we are also introducing a mini run of just 5 miles. If you want to join us but are not able to run the full course\, please feel welcome to get a team of 4 together and run in a relay or enter the mini and run in with us for the last 5 miles. \nOur marathon event was first run in 1998. It was founded and organised by Paul Elderkin\, a keen runner and member of a local Hash House Harriers Club. In 2012\, Paul passed the management of the race over to the Rotary Clubs of Winchester and Salisbury. \nThe entry fee for 2017 is an inclusive one. All entrants will be given a free medal and a free tshirt when they cross the finish line. Use of the buses will also be included.\nEarly bird prices for bookings before 1 June are: \n£30 for the full marathon (26.2 miles). £35 after 1 June.\n£22 for the half marathon (13.1 miles). £25 after 1 June.\n£20 for the mini (5 miles). £20 after 1 June.\n£70 for a 4 person relay team. £80 after 1 June.\nOnline entries close on Tuesday 19 September. It will be possible for runners to book on the day but an additional late fee of £10 (donation to Rotary charities) will be requested. \nClarendon coffee mugs are available for £5 each. \nA massage after the run will cost £7. \nIf you wish to use the event as an opportunity to raise funds for your favourite charity\, all the money that you raise can be put directly to your charity (100%). \nYour early bookings are much appreciated as this helps us when we are forecasting how many tshirts and medals to order and lots of other things. Please book as early as possible. \nClick here to go to the registration page \nEvent Info \nThe Clarendon Way Marathon (Laverstock/Salisbury to Winchester) – starting at 10:30am (earlier start of 8:00hrs for walkers and 9:30hrs for very slow runners). Cost £30.00.\nThe Clarendon Way Half Marathon (Broughton to Winchester) – starting at 12:15pm (earlier start of 11.45am for walkers). Cost £22.00.\nThe Clarendon Way Relay x4 Marathon (Laverstok/Salisbury to Winchester) – starting at 10:30am. Cost £70.00.\nThe Clarendon Mini (last 5 miles only. Farley Mount Country Park to Winchester) – starting at 1.45pm. Cost £20.00.\nFull Marathon \nThe Full Marathon starts from Wyvern College\, Laverstock\, Salisbury (SP1 1RE). The run mainly follows the Clarendon Way setting off through the Clarendon Estate and then on through the villages of Pitton\, Winterslow and Broughton. Broughton is the midway point where the Half Marathon runners join the course. From here the route takes you through to Houghton and then across the River Test to Kings Somborne\, then on up to Farley Mount\, down through the woods and eventually on to the finish at Kings’ School\, Winchester (SO22 5PN). The route is mostly off-road\, is tough and challenging but possibly one of the most scenic races you’ll ever enter. \nRegistration is open from 7.30am. Runners should allow plenty of time to pick up their race numbers. \nThe full marathon starts at 10:30am. Marathon runners should aim to reach the half marathon start point in Broughton in less than 2hrs 45mins i.e. by 13:15pm. \nThere is also an option to make an early start at Wyvern School at 8:00am or 9:30am (instead of 10:30am) if you are planning to walk the route or jog very slowly (please let us know when you book if you require an early start). Participants can only take the early start time if they are very slow and anticipate arriving at Winchester after 3:00pm but no later than 4:00pm. Participants taking the 9:30 start should only do so if they are likely to need more than 5 hours to complete the course. There are no prizes applicable for early starters. If you are a fast runner please do not take the early start as the marshals and the various support teams will not be in place. \nBuses are available pre-race and post-race depending on your requirements however please note that there are no pre-race buses available for the early starters. Early starters will need to transport themselves to Laverstoke\, run the course to Winchester\, then take the post-race bus. \nThe first runners are expected to arrive at the finish line at Kings School in Winchester at approx 1:15pm. We hope that all the runners (and strollers and walkers) will complete the course by 4.00pm at the very latest. \nRelay marathon (x4)\nThe Relay Marathon follows the same course as the full marathon. It comprises a four-stage relay\, each leg being an average of 6.5 miles in length but they are not equal lengths. The first leg is approx 10.5km\, second leg is 10.4km\, third leg is longest at 12.3km and the fourth leg is the shortest at 9.0 km. The third leg is the most challenging as\, in addition to being longer in distance\, it also has a greater hill climb in height. The fourth leg is the easiest as it is the shortest and some of it is down hill. The relay marathon starts at 10.30am. \nTeams are usually mixed sex (usually 3 males and one female) but we are also encouraging all male and all female teams. There is a prize for the first mixed team\, first male team and first female team. \nRegistration is open from 8.00. Runners should allow plenty of time to pick up their race numbers and their team batton (wrist band). This is to be passed on to the next runner at each transition point. \nThe relay change over points are as follows (click for maps): \nStart from Wyvern College\, Salisbury – SP1 1RE \nThe first changeover is in Middle Winterslow at the Sports Ground at OS Grid ref SU 237 329\, (SP5 1RD).\nThe second changeover is at Broughton\, Rectory Lane OS Grid ref SU 308330\, (SO20 8AB) Please note\, this is not the start point for the half marathon. \nThe third changeover is at Farley Mount Country Park car park (closest car park to the monument) OS Grid ref SU 407 293\nThe finish is at the Kings’ School in Winchester. OS Grid ref SU 458 291\, (SO22 5PN). \nTo help reduce road traffic congestion in the Middle Winterslow area can we ask all support personel to please enter via the A30\, Firs Road\, The St\, The Plantation\, The Sports Ground. When leaving\, please do not exit by going further into Winterslow along Middleton. \nInstead please exit by reversing your journey back along The Plantation\, The St and then up to the A30. Once you are on the A30 you will be able to travel east and then take the B3084 down into Broughton. \n Half marathon\nThe Half Marathon starts at 12:15pm at the village hall in Broughton (SO20 8AX)\, and continues along the marathon course to finish at Kings’ School in Winchester. There is also an earlier start time for walkers only at 11.45am. \nRegistration opens at 11.00. Runners should allow plenty of time to pick up their race numbers. \nMini (the last 5 miles only)\nThe mini start location is on the main trail in the middle of Farley Mount Country Park (Grid Ref SU417294). Participants in the ‘Mini’ will have the opportunity to chear the early runners and then join the main pack an hour later. The first runners from the main event are expected to be passing through this location from 12:45pm. \nThe bus from Winchester carrying the mini runners will arrive at about 1.00pm and the mini runners will be able to watch some of the marathon runners going through. The mini will then set off at 1.45pm. \nSee bus time table section for more detailed infomation http://www.clarendon-marathon.co.uk/more-info \nKids Race (free)\nWe will hold a fun race for young children who are waiting with their parents at Kings School Winchester. This will be a very informal event\, it is free and you do not need to pre-book. We are planning to set the children off at approx 12.30 for a short race within the school grounds. All the participants will be finished in plenty of time to see the marathon runners who will be arriving from about 13:15 onwards. \nCut off times\nIf on the day you find you are running very slowly\, you may be directed by a marshal to leave the course and accept a lift to Winchester. We have a large number of marshals along the route and it is not fair to keep them out on the course for an extended period. To be allowed to stay in the race you must make it to the drinks stations by the required times. Please see these times listed below. Please note that if you are a slow runner you should consider taking one of the earlier starts to ensure you reach the drinks stations within the cut off time. \nDrink stations\nDrink stations are located at the following locations. In the past these have been good places for spectators to see the runners but due to the traffic congestion in the area we are now asking spectators not to drive around the course hoping to see their friends. Instead\, if you are a spectator\, please go direct to Kings School. \nStation 1 – Clarendon Estate (near the palace ruins)\, Grid Ref SU181301.\nStation 2 – Pitton Village Hall\, Grid Ref SU213312.\nStation 3 – Winterslow Recreation Ground\, Grid Ref SU237328.\nStation 4 – Buckholt Farm\, Grid Ref SU277322.\nStation 5 – Broughton\, Rectory Lane\, Grid Ref SU308330.\nCut off time 13:15.\nStation 6 – Houghton\, Grid Ref SU338316.\nCut off time 13:40.\nStation 7 – Kings Somborne (near The Old Vicarage)\, Grid Ref SU361311.\nCut off time 14:00.\nStation 8 – Ashley Road\, Grid Ref SU390297.\nCut off time 14.30.\nStation 9 – Farley Mount Monument\, Grid Ref SU407292.\nCut off time 14:45.\nStation 10 – West Wood (on the northern side)\, Grid Ref SU418304.\nCut off time 15:00.\nStation 11 – West Wood (south side\, near the road)\, Grid Ref SU424294.\nCut off time 15:15.\nStation 12 – Ham Green\, Near the Cattery\, Grid Ref SU435306.\nCut off time 15:25.\nStation 13 – Pincent Scout Camp Entrance\, Grid Ref SU451297.\nCut off time 15:50.

SUMMARY:Gran Fondo Campagnolo Roma 2017
DESCRIPTION:Gran Fondo Campagnolo Roma Event\nThe Gran Fondo Campagnolo Roma has a length of 75 miles with an altitude of 6\,643 ft elevation. For well trained riders. Certainly challenging and suitable for those with well trained legs and lungs. For this reason\, to make it even more attractive to those who see the bike a means to compete (with others or themselves)\, the routes are varied and difficult. The route within Rome: Fori Imperiali\, Piazza Venezia\, Piazza Argentina\, Corso Rinascimento\, S. Andrea della Valle\, via Tomacelli\, Largo Goldoni\, Via del Corso\, Piazza del Popolo\, LungoTevere to Via di Porta San Sebastiano. Then\, once out of town in the direction of the Castles immortalized by centuries of stories\, poems\, songs and movies. Ancient villages\, evocative\, steeped in history and immersed in enchanted landscapes. \nLake Albano\, which the Pope’s summer residence oversees\, Rocca di Papa\, Rocca Priora\, Montecompatri are our four challenging timed climbs\, with hard\, dry features as they say in cycling words\, could “be very painful” the muscles already tested by a path not exactly flat\, especially in the city section with Roman cobblestones reminiscent of the legendary North European pavé. \nThe timed hill climbs:\nPanoramica (Lake Albano) 2.3 kilometers\, with an average gradient of 5.9% and a maximum of 8%. \nMurus (Rocca di Papa) 1.1 kilometers with an average gradient of 10.3% and a maximum of 16%. \nRocca Priora – Trofeo Corriere dello Sport 6 kilometres\, average gradient of 6.3% and maximum 13% \nRostrum (Montecompatri) 0.720 meters with a wall at an average gradient of 12% and maximum of 18%. \nRome is always near. You ride the hills\, touching 800 meters above sea level\, the fresh air\, the feeling of being on vacation but wanting to race\, that makes you want to crank it up. Head down\, with hills and slopes and then Pratoni del Vivaro\, a landscape straight out of Spaghetti Westerns\, the Roman countryside and finally the return to Rome … goodbye to the freshness of the Castelli\, hello the heat of the Eternal City. \nAn innovative gran fondo. Final classifications are awarded and for each category based on timing of the timed climbs with prizes in each category according to the times recorded in the four official hill climbs. \nAnd a wonderful new initiative called Campagnolo Campagnolo Climbing Championship\, for those who will go first in the four climbs of the Gran Fondo: Overview of the time trial\, the Murus\, Rocca Priora – Trofeo Corriere dello Sport and Rostrum who will have the honor of a special mesh. \nA ranking for men\, women of different categories in order to better represent all competitive\, rewarding the most competitive\, from the youngest to the oldest\, will consecrate the Campagnolo Climbing Champion. And also two links will award the winners in the overall calculation of the 4 climbs and after arrivals you will be able to celebrate the King of Rome and The Queen of Rome. All Campagnolo Climbing Champion will show off their jersies the next year and will be entitled to a place in the front row of the starting grid. And\, at the Expo Village\, a Roman column “Wall of Fame” will have plates with the names of the winners. \nItenary \nFriday 6th October 2017 – Arrival day\nMake your own way to your chosen hotel in Rome or book our airport transfer (bookable extra at £ ) and arrive at your hotel where you will spend the next 3 nights on bed and breakfast basis. If you choose to book our airport transfers\, you should aim for flights to arrive into Rome no later than 6pm. Our hotel is excellently located in the centre of Rome\, for ease of access to the Race start and Race Finish\, so all you have to do is focus on your riding. If you arrive in time\, this afternoon would be a good time to build your bike. \nSaturday 7th October 2017 – Race registration and Expo\nIf you haven’t yet built your bike\, please do this after breakfast. This morning there will be a bike tour with a local guide. SUMMARY:RG Open Water Swim Race
DESCRIPTION:Open Water Swim Race UK\nWith the popularity of open water swimming growing as a sport in it’s own right there is more and more of you wanting to test your swimming ability without having to worry about cycling and running afterwards. There are also many triathletes entering these open water swim races as preparation for their own triathlon and multisport events. \nOur TRAINING RACES offer the competitors an opportunity to gauge fitness\, practise mass swim starts\, swimming with others and to add a element of competition to your training in a relaxed and inexpensive environment. \nThe races will follow the same structure with the only things outside of your control being the British weather and the other competitors racing with you. \nThis allows you to monitor your progress over the races throughout the season over the same course and having the series will enable you to try new things and make sure that you get a great workout as well as preparing yourself for your major ‘A’ races during the summer. \nWe allow competitors to decide on your race distance on the morning of the race when you register and collect your swim hat. We have decided to offer this because over the past two year people have regularly changed their minds due to weather\, their fitness etc. This way you can literally choose the distance thats right for you when you arrive at the race. \nEntry Fees for the Open Water Swim Race:\n– Entries for the 3200m (6 laps) distance race is £12.00\n– Entries for the 2250m (4 laps) distance race is £12.00\n– Entries for the 1250m (2 laps) distance race is £12.00\n– Entries for the 750m (1 lap) distance race is FREE! \nWe are allowing competitors to decide on your race distance on the morning of the race when you register and collect your swim hat and race number. We have decided to offer this because over in past years people have regularly changed their minds due to weather\, their fitness etc. \nThis way you can literally choose the distance that’s right for you when you arrive at the race. \nRace Info\nPlease take time to read through this information prior to your race: \nThe races will start from 8:00am so we ask that you arrive in plenty of time to change\, register and warm up prior to the race start. On arrival at the venue you will asked to park in specific areas by members of the RG Active marshals. \nYou will need to register your attendance with at the registration desk where you will be given the following things:\n– An coloured swim hat relevant to your race distance.\n– On your hand will be written a ‘Number’\, ‘Letter’ or both\, this will be how the race marshals are able to record your time at the finish line of the race. \nNote: At the registration desk you will also be able to purchase a selection of items including blueseventy goggles\, swim toys as well as sports lubricant\, energy products and hot or cold drinks. \nThe distances for all races have been measure by GPS equipment\, however due to tidal changes in the river Thames the exact distance of the races could vary by a few metres on the morning of the race like with all open water events. \nThere will be three race options/distances to choose from\, however EVERYONE will start in the same ‘Mass start’ at 08:00am. \nCompetitors racing the 750m (1 lap) course will exit the water via the matted ramp and follow the cones directly to the finish line where your time will be recorded by the RG Active time keepers. \nThose competitors competing in the longer distance races will NOT exit the lake and continue the loop in the upper part of the lake to complete their additional lap(s). At the end of their last swim lap they will exit the lake via the ramp\, turn sharp left and head directly to the finish line. \nWhen running through the finish line we ask that all competitors be respectful of the time keepers and help them to record your numbers accurately so the results will be correct when you receive them. \nPlease make sure the ‘number’ or ‘letter’ you have written on your hand is shown to the time keepers when you cross the finish line\, this signifies YOU and will be cross referenced with your time when the results are compiled after the race. \nNow all you have to do is Enter\, Participate and Enjoy!
