The Big South East Swim returns to Dartford for the 6th year running.\nCome and swim in one of the cleanest lakes in the UK. You have 5 swim and 2 Aquathlons distances to choose from. This is the ideal swim venue for beginners and experienced swimmers. \nEvent details\n\nUpon arriving at the Bridge Site\, please make your way to the car park. Then follow the arrows to the swim start that’s about 400 meters away.\nTo find us by Sat Nav the postcode is DA15GA\, and that will take you to the car park\nPlease keep to the pavement as the fast-track bus route will be running all day.\nRegistration will be on the right-hand side on the grass and will open at 8am.\nThere will be changing tents and Toilets on site.\nPlease take care when you exit the lake as the ground will be wet and muddy.\nThe swim will take place in the South Lake at The Bridge. DESCRIPTION:Event Details Summary:\n\n\n\n\n4 August 2024\n\n\n\nLast Hop\, Clarence Street\, Staines\, UK\n\n\n\nSunday\n\n\n\n09:00am\n\n\n\n\n\n7 hours to run any distance you want from 5km to Ultra-marathon \n\n\n\n\nAbout The Event\n\n\n\nJoin us for the third and final race in our mini-three event series of Cocktails to collect! We have designed a cocktail-themed mini-medal for everyone\, whether you are a Sloe Gin or a Rum Runner!! \n\n\n\nIF YOU RUN THE THREE-RACE SERIES\, YOU WILL GET A LARGE MEDAL TO HANG THE 3 MINI-COCKTAIL MEDALS ON. \n\n\n\nDistance & Time\n\n\n\nThis is a 7-hour Time Challenge event\, which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km\, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles or 7km (this is subject to change to a 3.28-mile loop depending on course conditions)\, and you can run as many\, or as few\, of these laps as you wish in the 7-hour time limit starts from the official event start time of 9am. It is 3 laps for a half marathon\, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra\, we also have a 50km distance available. \n\n\n\nThe regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event\, depending on our health and safety review of the course. \n\n\n\nCourse\n\n\n\nThe course is along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course mainly has well-made paths and tarmac with a very short grass section. Road shoes are suitable all year round. \n\n\n\nMedals & Pins\n\n\n\nAs long as you complete one lap\, you will be an official finisher and you will receive one of our fantastic themed medals or the third and final mini-medal to complete your trio of cocktails! We also have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon\, Mega-Half\, Marathon\, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement. \n\n\n\nGoody Bag\n\n\n\nAbsolutely! You earned the calories after all\, so all our finishers get a goody bag. As well as our standard goody bag\, with a selection of various goodies to choose from\, we also have a fabulous vegan goody bag for our vegan runners. \n\n\n\nAid Table\n\n\n\nWe have a fantastic aid table and drinks table at the start / finish of each lap. There is a great selection of savoury\, sweet\, fruit\, cheese and vegan items at the aid table. \n\n\n\nSpecial Event\n\n\n\nIf our event is a special event for you\, for instance\, your 50th\, 99th\, 100th\, 200th\, 250th etc.\, half or full marathon\, then please let us know. You will receive a special running number with your name on it and the date of the event. Also\, if it is your birthday run then again please let us know as we have a fabulous special birthday number for you too. \n\n\n\nVenue Facilities\n\n\n\nToilets and changing facilities are available at the race HQ. The bag drop is near the start and finish area. Runners should be aware the bag drop is not staffed and items are left at the sole responsibility of the participant. No liability for lost items will be accepted by the Organiser. \n\n\n\nCar Parking\n\n\n\nThere is a nearby pay and display carpark and some free parking in certain nearby streets. \n\n\n\nRace Day Instructions & Number Pick Up\n\n\n\nFinal race day instructions will be sent out via email 4 days prior to the event with full race day information. If you need a day license you will now be directed to the British Triathlon website to buy one. This is because they need you name and address for the day license. \n\n\n\nEnter 2024 \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to say that there is no price increase at the moment. Sorry but this may change after Christmas. We try our hardest to keep our entry fees the lowest in the UK\, but every part of our race is going up in price. \n\n\n\nSo whatever happens\, we will still be the best Value full and half-distance race in the UK. \n\n\n\nTo keep the price of the race so low we need almost to fill the race to cover the cost of running the event. If you can help us promote the race in any way that would be great \n\n\n\nWhen I came up with this crazy idea 12 years ago I never thought we would make it to our 12th Year. I would sooner everyone wear one but we can’t make you. If it goes over 22 degrees for the sprint and Standard.\n\n\n\nFor the half and and full if it goes over 24.6 degrees it becomes a no wet suit swim.\n\n\n\nWe do also now a tea wagon coming along. Not sure how long they will stay for as its a long night.\n\n\n\n\nRemember to bring the following to make the race easer for you\n\n\n\n1  Lights on your bike for the Full and half. \n\n\n\n2  Speedo so you can keep an eye on how far you cycled. There will be a lap counter on the  bike and run \n\n\n\n3 There will be a large TV screen by the finish area so you can double check if you lose count. \n\n\n\n4  You will be given a Aid bag at registration to put anything you need during the bike or run. This will by the feed station in number order. It gets very cold at night as we are close to 2 lakes and the river. \n\n\n\n5 We will be giving out HIGH5 on the bike in 750m water bottles and water. \n\n\n\nThe cut-off times are as follows for the full distance.\n\n\n\n\nSwim 8.15pm (2.15)\, Bike 4.30am ( 10.30 hours)\, Finish 11am (17.00)\n\n\n\nThere are no real cut-off times for the other distances as we are there all night.

SUMMARY:Bacchus Wine Half Marathon & 10k
DESCRIPTION:Amongst oenphiles\, English wine has been an open secret for some time\, and there is no better place to sample it than Denbies Vineyard in Dorking on September 8\, 2024. The catch is that you’ll have to do a bit of running as well as part of the Bacchus Wine Half Marathon and 10K. \n\n\n\nSet in the stunning surroundings of the North Downs\, Bacchus is one of the must-do events on the UK running calendar. Most of the field turns out in a fancy dress\, and there are bands and other musical entertainment around the course\, but it’s the drinks stations on the route that separate Bacchus from other running races and epitomise the spirit of the event. \n\n\n\nHalf-marathon runners will have the chance to sample six fabulous award-winning English wines at five drinks stations along the course (you visit one station twice\, going out and coming back) with food and soft drinks to accompany them. If you are running the 10K you’ll visit two of the wine stations. For all runners there’s more food\, drink and music waiting for you at the finish at the post-race hog roast where the party carries on long into the evening. Non-running friends or supporters can purchase the same food and drinks at the post-race hog roast. \n\n\n\nVOLUNTEERS \n\n\n\nWe are always looking for extra volunteers who can help at the start/finish area with late registration\, hand out medals and T-shirts at the finish or serve drinks and food at the drinks stations. It’s a fun way to take part in the event if you are not running and all our volunteers receive free entry to one of our future UK events\, a goody bag of products and a ticket to the post-race hog-roast. The What 3 Words location is here. It is managed by Warwickshire County Council. Parking costs £4.95. There is a cafe and toilet block next to the HQ on site. The nearest train station Coleshill Parkway is approximately 5 miles away. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. It is an event that enables all abilities of runner to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively\, you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30\, having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events\, or enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe route takes you around many of the pools of Kingsbury Water Park. The conditions underfoot are mixed with sections of grass\, gravel tracks and a few very short sections of asphalt. the views are great\, and you’re guaranteed to see a plethora of wildfowl. \n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather at the time of the event. Kingsbury Water Park floods very easily\, and if there has been heavy rain\, the ground will be sodden. As always we’ll update runners closer to the event as to the exact conditions. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 10/08/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 10/08/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever? \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile lap at Kingsbury Water Park means your race can be just over 5k or\, given the relatively flat nature of the course\, potentially 50+ miles! You decide how many laps you are going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 8 laps\, and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes\, many times! The route may be subject to last-minute changes\, and there will be plenty of markings up on race day\, so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! You can pay by card or coin. \n\n\n\nWe are hopeful we’ll be able to secure an event parking rate at a much reduced rate. This will be confirmed closer to the event. \n\n\n\nThe nearest train stations Rugeley Trent Valley\, and Rugeley Town\, are both approximately 2 miles away \n\n\n\nIf you want to see what the venue is like watch the venue preview here. \n\n\n\nWon’t it be dark?\n\n\n\nWe hope so! You need a head or chest to torch to run in this event. No torch no run. \n\n\n\nOur friends from Petzl will be with us so you can test out the best head torches around on the night. If you’ve got a cheap headtorch from Amazon\, you’ll be able to tell the difference immediately. We’ll have more to announce on this closer to the event. \n\n\n\nWho are Petzl?\n\n\n\nPetzl are the industry leader in high quality head torches. We’re very lucky to be hosting some of their “Night Runner” events. We’ve got 1 at Cannock Chase Forest and 2 at Salcey Forest this winter. \n\n\n\nThere is a reason the top ultra runners in the world use their head torches\, when you need the trail lit up they are simply the best. When trail running at night you want to make sure youyr head torch wont let you down and your Petzl wont. \n\n\n\nThey’ll be at the event with their demo kit for you to try on before\, during or after the event. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve held many night time 10k’s with canicross and it’s been great success. We request that your dog be lit up (lights on it’s harness rather than wrapping the dog in Christmas lights!)\, you keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll start the canicross runners off a couple of minutes before the main field. Please read our general canicross rules here. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm the exact timings for this closer to the event but it is likely the canicross start time will be around 18:50. \n\n\n\nPlease make sure you enter the Canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather closer to the event. It is predominantly on crushed stone however\, with tree detritus the ground can become a bit slippy and mucky\, you’ll never be in ankle deep mud though. There are a few sections on more exposed grass paths\, trail shoes are advised. The route is fully marked and effectively a 2 lap course. Cannock Chase is hilly!

Start 08:15. \n\n\n\nENTRY FEE£67.00 (includes a tracker) \n\n\n\nThis demanding run along the Thames is one of the most popular events in the British ultra-running calendar. \n\n\n\nPreviously known as the Thames Trot\, the event takes in 47 miles from Iffley in Oxfordshire to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nOur runners will enjoy the company of England’s largest river as it makes its way past ever-changing scenery\, beautiful houses and traditional rowing clubs. Expect everything from tarmac paths to muddy trails on this interesting and challenging course. \n\n\n\nThe run follows both the Thames Path and Ridgeway National Trails\, so entrants should be careful not to forget the words ‘National Trail’ rather than simply reading Thames Path. \n\n\n\nStarting around three miles south of Oxford\, the race heads from Hawkwell House Hotel down to Iffley Lock and across the river. It then follows the towpath through the picturesque towns and villages of the region to Henley-on-Thames. \n\n\n\nThere will be a new race finish for 2024 at the YMCA Y Centre\, in Lawson Road\, Henley-on-Thames. DESCRIPTION:The Chepstow Steeplechase is a super fun day out\, all about climbs\, crawls\, water and mud! These events are for everyone. You don’t need to be fit to take part. You just need to be hungry for a laugh and fun times. There is a mix of obstacles to climb over\, tunnels to crawl through\, water to dip into and run through and mud pits to wade through. The aim of our midweek runs is to hold events as cheaply as possible in order for people to be able to build their numbers or simply to help people achieve their own goals at an affordable price. \n\n\n\nThe midweek runs are fully flexible with start times available from 7.30am with time to run all the way to 3.30pm! Now that’s a FLEXIBLE FRIDAY \n\n\n\nAll abilities are welcome at our super-inclusive events and we also welcome walkers too. \n\n\n\nDistance & Time\n\n\n\nThis is a 7 hour Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km\, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7 hour time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon\, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra\, we also have a 50km distance available. \n\n\n\nCourse\n\n\n\nThe course along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is a mixture with approximately 60% of it on a well-made path / tarmac. The remainder is grass and light trail which can get muddy at certain times of the year. Road shoes can be used all year round but if you prefer the extra grip on the trail sections then trail shoes can be worn. \n\n\n\nThe regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event depending on our health and safety review of the course and council / land owner final approval. \n\n\n\nMedals & Pins\n\n\n\nAs long as you complete one lap\, you will be an official finisher and you will receive one of our fantastic themed medals. We also have distance pins available for anyone who runs a half-marathon distance or more. Pins available to collect are our Half-Marathon\, Mega-Half\, Marathon\, 50km and Ultra pins. You will receive one pin on the ribbon of your medal to reflect your achievement. \n\n\n\nGoody Bag\n\n\n\nAbsolutely! You earned the calories after all\, so all our finishers get a goody bag. You will receive a special running number with your name on it and the date of the event. DESCRIPTION:EVENT SUMMARY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, November 20\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HXUnited Kingdom (map)\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\nWhere Is It?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs (W3W). \n\n\n\nYou do have to pay to park (between £4-£6 at the time of writing).  That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \n\n\n\nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes. \n\n\n\nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \n\n\n\nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runners to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively\, you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30\, having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events\, or enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve had great success at events with canicross\, and we’re pleased to add this event too. You must keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll most likely start the canicross runners off with the main field depending on numbers. Please read our general canicross rules here. Please make sure you enter the canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe route is along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. Obviously\, being in the middle of a forest\, the narrower ones are covered in tree detritus and can become a bit muddy and grimy\, especially when wet. On a dry day road shoes will be perfectly acceptable\, on a wet day trail shoes may be a better bet as some parts can become a bit slippy. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 20/10/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 20/10/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.5-mile off-road loop means your race can be 5k or even over 80K and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you’re going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 7 laps (+ a little out and back)\, and a half marathon will be 3 laps (+ an out and back). \n\n\n\nWhat’s an Altra try-on event?\n\n\n\nOur friends at Altra will be coming along with a complete set of a few different models of their amazing foot-shaped shoes for you to try out on the trails! Simply take your size out for a lap or 3 and see what you think. \n\n\n\nI\, Paul\, am I a big fan of Altra and have been wearing them pretty much exclusivly since 2018. They are different (in a good way!)\, and so being able to go for an actual run on an actual trail is a great opportunity. The lapped format means if you don’t get on with them it’s just one lap of discomfort – not your whole event! \n\n\n\nNo catches\, no hard sell and no ruined event! We’re just trying to add something else to your day. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes. We’ve run at Salcey Forest many times in the past. You can view previous results and the course records here. \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack.\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up for this event\, you can select to have no finish line swag\, and instead\, we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees\, who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! The route may be subject to last minute changes and there will be plenty of markings up on race day so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event.\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app\, you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! It returns in 2024 in much the same format: the route takes you over Army vehicle testing ground in Aldershot with two distance options\, a main race 8-miler and a lighter version over a shorter 4-mile course. \nAlthough the GRIM is a tough trail race in which you will certainly find yourself at times cold\, wet and dirty\, it is not an obstacle race\, it’s a running event. We don’t build any ramps\, walls or swings on the course. All the obstacles are natural\, formed by tanks driving over the route or by incessant rain in the weeks leading up to the event. Of course\, at this stage\, we can’t guarantee the rain but it’s never let us down before! In a few places\, you will be crawling under cargo nets or wading through waist-high water. The distance may not sound daunting but don’t take this lightly\, on a cold December morning\, the GRIM is a challenge and you will think it is aptly named when you have run it. \nEntries close on 28th November at NOON. \nOur 2023 charity partner Combat Stress is back for 2024! DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, January 24\, 2025\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nDaventry Country Park\, NN11 2JB Welton United Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nDaventry Country Park (NN11 2JB) is run and managed by West Northamptonshire Council. The What 3 Words location is here. \n\n\n\nParking costs between £2-8 depending on how long you stay. There is a cafe and toilet block on the route. \n\n\n\nThe County Park has a large car park\, cafe and children’s play area. It’s 20 minutes from M1 Junction 16. The closest train station is Long Buckby. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \n\n\n\nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runner to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30 having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events or to enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve had great success at events with canicross and we’re pleased to add this event too. You must keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll most likely start the canicross runners off with the main field depending on numbers. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe majority of the course is on relatively new crushed stone and so unless the weather has been awful it should be good running for the majority of the route (around 80% of the route). \n\n\n\nThe final route will be decided in the autumn due to new sections of country park being opened. The plan is to use these new sections. The course will be on pathways throughout\, however\, so although your trainers won’t be clean (it’s in January\, after all!)\, you won’t be thigh-high in the mud either! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nBefore 01/01/2025 £35 \n\n\n\nAfter 01/01/2025 £40 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile off-road loop means your race can be just over 5k or even over 80K and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you’re going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance you’ll need to complete 8 laps and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\n(NB. The course distance will be confirmed in the autumn along with the exact course as per the course description block) \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes. We’ve run at Daventry Country Park many times in the past. What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app you can be directed around the route on your chosen day. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking for a traffic-free 10K in a stunning setting\, then look no further than the Longleat 10K; starting in front of the magnificence of Longleat House\, the race takes in the estates’ private and traffic-free roads\, with only a short excursion of 400m on public highways as you pass the Bath Arms Public House before the final mile downhill to the finish. \n\n\n\nThe route is undulating to hilly\, with a significant climb tackled twice: once soon after the start and the second towards the end. SUMMARY:Farnborough Winter Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:In 2024\, the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon once again took place on its traditional date at the end of January\, but it has nowbeen moved to February 2025 this year. For those who remember the icy chill conditions of the inaugural event in 2017 or the snow of 2018\, in 2024 things seemed to calm down\, although not as icy it was certainly more windy. There were some phenomenal times\, at the front and all the way down the field: there were four runners (in 2022) under 65 minutes – all inside the old course record – and nearly 200 inside 90 minutes. This year’s race was no different with more extremely fast times across the board! \n\n\n\nFarnborough is generally the first major half marathon of the season so the weather will always be a roll of the dice in February\, but now we know just how fast the route is\, we expect it to be even more popular than usual. The 2025 race is confirmed as a qualifying race for the England Athletics Masters Programme\, giving Masters Athletes an opportunity to earn their England Age Group Masters vest. See here for more details. \n\n\n\nFor those of you not familar with the route\, it is a fast\, largely flat\, traffic-free course\, starting and finishing at the historic Airship Hangar adjacent to Farnborough Airport. It is the same route as the previous three editions\, taking in a delightful semi-rural circuit which broadly circles Farnborough airport in an anti-clockwise direction. \n\n\n\nFrom its inception in 2017 the event has been very popular with local runners and those from further afield looking for an early race to test their winter fitness. The main race is limited to 3000 runners and generally sells out early so don’t delay if you are thinking of running. Entries will be closed when we have reached our limit. Since it helps with our planning we incentivize you to enter early: \n\n\n\nPrices\n\n\n\nEarly Bird Next 1000 entries (or up to September 30\, 2024 at the latest).
