SUMMARY:The Bali Hope SwimRun 2018
DESCRIPTION:Bali Hope SwimRun 2018\nThe Bali Hope SwimRun aims to bring together 30 extraordinary people for 5 days this December to take on the challenge of Bali’s first swimrun and fundraise US$60\,000 to help protect the islands of Lembongan and Ceningan from plastic pollution. \nSwimRun is a Nordic adventure sport where teams of two compete by alternating between running and swimming on a challenging course covering roads\, beaches\, ocean\, rocks\, and paths. Each team must help each other through the terrain to beat the course and complete the entire course together. Unlike triathlon there are no transitions or changes of equipment allowed. \nThe environmental challenge presented by plastic is well documented. What is less clear is what we can do as individuals to tackle this problem. By combining our voices and supporting better recycling infrastructure and greater awareness among young people we are actively building a better future. \nThe Bali Hope SwimRun will create a new global family among the participants and\, combined with the best hospitality available\, provide a life-changing experience for everyone involved. \nWe ask participants to commit to fundraising US$2\,000 for our charity partners and joining the entire 5 day experience. \nDISTANCES\n17 km run\, 2.5 km swim \nOur 5 days on Lembongan\nA shared team experience and deep connection to the impact we are making is important to us. Many of our team members will travel to Bali from Europe or North America and it is important to acclimatise before the SwimRun. \nCan I bring a partner and/or children?\nOf course. Partners and children are most welcome. In 2018 on our ultra marathon we had 4 young people with us\, including one young adult who joined our support crew. Witnessing a team of adults from around the world making change happen for a disadvantaged community can only be a positive experience. \nCan I join the SwimRun but not the rest of the week? \nUnfortunately not. The integrity of our SwimRun team\, our shared experience and our itinerary means this is not possible. \nThe SwimRun \nWhat is your advice if I have never joining a SwimRun before?\nThe route is designed to be challenging but accessible for anyone with a decent level of fitness. We do recommend researching SwimRun and the standard equipment required. \nWhat level of support do you provide?\nParticipant safety on this ocean & road race is our key priority. With this in mind we have a highly-experienced health and safety director\, emergency medical back-up\, and trained first aiders in both fixed and mobile-aid stations. \nWhat insurance do I need? \nEvery participant will need insurance covering endurance sports. \nFundraising \nWhat is your advice on fundraising?\nCritical factors on successful fundraising include starting early to raise awareness of what you are doing\, the impact it will make and the training commitment required\, and then follow this up with personal messages to friends\, family and your broader network. We believe US$2\,000 is very achievable and together we can make a real impact in reducing plastic pollution.

If overtaking is not completed within 15 seconds the overtaking cyclist must drop back. Static marshals will check that all competitors comply with the drafting rule. \nIn order to monitor drafting our bike director will tour the bike route in an estate car. Your empties will be taken back to transition for collection at the end of your race. \nRefreshments station 2: At the Finish.
