DESCRIPTION:This is a tough event for Cederberg and Mountain lovers. For the discerning trail runner who enjoys adventure and wilderness. You need to be self-sufficient\, there is no pampering other than endless panoramic views. A skyline trail around the amphitheater of the Kromrivier Valley. \n\n\n\nThe highest point of the trail is Donkerkloof Peak is at 1750 meters. Looking north you can see Sneeuberg\, the highest summit in the Cederberg. The route traverses 6 Peaks\, and each must be reached within a Cut off time\, or you will be short-coursed down the Valley. \n\n\n\nBut\, we are generous and if you can hike fast\, maintaining a reasonable tempo\, you will enjoy a thrilling day out. The 2012 London Olympic venue attracts thousands of triathletes a year with it’s clear\, calm\, clean water to swim in and flat\, car-free bike and run course. \nWhen is the event?\nEton Sprints 2023 takes place on Saturday 13th\, and Sunday 14th May. \nDistances\n  \nEvent Registration\nREGISTRATION MARQUEE OPEN FROM 07:15 \nRegister and collect your race pack\, which has the following: \n\nRace numbers to be pinned to your front or on a race belt so you can easily switch it from rear for the bike course to the front for the run course\nNumbered wristband for transition entrance/exit. This will be removed by our crew when you leave transition with your bike and kit for the last time.\nSticky numbers for the front of your helmet and bike\nTiming Chip – Velcro strap needs to be collected before leaving the registration marquee\n\nTo collect your event pack\, you MUST show a photo ID and your registration QR code. Please ensure you have registered a minimum of 1 hour before your wave. Please attach all numbers before entering the transition. Bikes are racked by wave. \nElectronic Timing\nYour electronic timing chip should be securely fastened to your left ankle. To attach\, fasten the Velcro thread around your ankle. Once attached\, please DON’T remove it until you have completed your Triathlon. We will endeavour to provide all timing splits\, but this is not guaranteed. Lost chip charge is £35\, so secure it well. We will collect it at the finish line. \nPLEASE NOTE: Only competitors are allowed in the transition area. You will be given a security-numbered wristband attached at registration. This wristband allows access in/out of the transition area and may only be removed by crew checking your equipment on final departure from Transition. \nCOURSE INFO\n\nON COURSE HYDRATION: There will be one drinks station at the half-way point of the run course. All athletes should be self-sufficient and bring water / drinks with them for both your bike and run sections.\n\nFINISH LINE: The finish line will be self-service – please collect your Medal\, Water\, SIS product and Erdinger Alkoholfrei from the tables keeping your distance from others. Please collect your bike and equipment from transition promptly to enable crew to clean the racking prior to subsequent waves using it. \nEVENT RULES\n\nNo mobile phones\, personal stereos\, MP3 players or iPods to be used in Transition or during the event itself at any time.\nIt is forbidden to mark your position in Transition.\nYour cycle helmet is to be on and fastened before you touch your bike and remain on and done up until after your bike is racked.\nIt is forbidden to cycle in Transition.\nDisc brakes are allowed in triathlons and duathlons.\nDrafting* is forbidden on the bike.\n\nFor more information and the latest rules\, visit the BTF Website.\n*Drafting is cycling too closely behind another cyclist and gaining an advantage. We have also ordered some flapjacks and fruit for when you finish.\n\n\n\n\nDuring the race \n\n\n\n\nWe will have marshals all around the course as well as km signs and arrows. The course is on the roads/paths in the park and will be one lap 5k and two laps 10k. Please be aware that there will be spectators and members of the public using the park.\n\n\n\n\nSpectators \n\n\n\n\nIn terms of spectating\, this park could not be any better\, the fields are open\, and every area of the park is accessible to see people running around.\n\n\n\n\nResults \n\n\n\n\nResults will be available on http://www.runthrough.co.uk after the race.\n\n\n\n\nPictures \n\n\n\n\nWe will have a photographer taking a few snaps of the race\, and they will be on our photos website after the race\, so be sure to check it out and see if you can spot yourself.\n\n\n\n\nThings to note! \n\n\n\n\nThere WILL be pedestrians. Please be aware of pedestrians\, cyclists and dogs. We have marshals around the course and signs\, but this is not a road race. You have to pay very close attention to where you are going. SUMMARY:South Downs Trail Half Marathon & 10km\, QE Park Petersfield
DESCRIPTION:The South Downs Trail Half Marathon and accompanying 10K are two of the classic trail runs in the South of England. They both start and finish at QE Country Park and run out to join the South Downs Way on a network of Bridle Paths through beautiful downland and forested countryside.  In 2022 we introduced Canicross waves for the first time. They were a great success\, and they will be returning in 2023 with a Canicross wave starting before the main races and a separate Canicross prize list. \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon\n\n\n\nStarting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park near Petersfield\, the half marathon follows a route through the Country Park\, then across fields to the Village of Chalton before picking up the Sussex Border Path\, bringing you to the South Downs Way. The route then returns\, running west for 4 miles on the South Downs Way back through QE Park to the finish. \n\n\n\nWe are planning to have two wave starts for the half marathon in 2022 to prevent congestion at the stile after 3.5miles and to maintain social distancing before the start: \n\n\n\n\n9:55am       Canicross Wave\n\n\n\n10 am         Half-Marathon wave 1\n\n\n\n10.10 am    Half-Marathon wave 2\n\n\n\n10.20 am    10Km\n\n\n\n\nThe half marathon field has wave starts to avoid congestion in the early part of the course\, where there are a couple of narrow sections on the route. The waves will be split on estimated finishing times\, with the faster runners starting first. Think of it as like Parkrun for Swim Bike Run. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part. \n\n\n\nGO TRI Local Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off-road course that suitable for all ages & abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. With the opportunities\, we have set out the minimum distances for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped\, so you can do as much or as little that want on the day. eg more experienced people can do a 150m swim\, a 7.5K bike (5 laps of the velopark) and a 2k run which is 3 laps of our run course \n\n\n\nFAMILIES ENCOURAGED\n\n\n\nChildren as young as 6 (provided they can swim 25m) can take part with a responsible adult taking part with them. About 20min from Cessnock and about 90min from Sydney. \n\n\n\nRACE KIT COLLECTIONAt the Race Compound\, behind Wollombi Tavern\, Wollombi\, off Great North Rd on Event Day from 7.00 – 9.15 am. You must collect your registration kit 45min before your race start. \n\n\n\nCOURSE INFO GENERALNote Undercliff Winery and Moores Rd is private property and unavailable for general public rides outside the event. \n\n\n\nThe race compound and registration area will be on the grounds of the Wollombi Tavern. From there\, riders will marshal for their starts and head out the back gate and onto Yango Creek Rd. All courses start and end here\, with the finish being a right-hand turn into the grounds of the Tavern to the finish arch. The Wild Shorty course is out and back\, and the Wild 66 is a looped course\, with the Wild 32 looped and out and back. Please note there are no road closures on the main tracks\, and normal road rules apply when using the roadways. We do not expect much traffic\, and a traffic management plan will be in place. Please be aware the course has some very steep climbs and descents. The surface is mostly fire trails and gravel roads with various degrees of condition\, from ‘rough as guts’ to quite smooth. Note Undercliffe Winery and Moores Rd are private property and unavailable for general public rides outside the event. This course is under review given constant breaches of private property by practising riders!!!. \n\n\n\nWHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR ENTRY FEE? \n\n\n\n\nEasy access to event info\n\n\n\nEasy online entry system. This will be at 22km and 56km on the 66km course and approximately the 22km mark on the 32km ride. We suggest you start with two full biddons. \n\n\n\nCOURSE MARSHALS AND EMERGENCY PLANNINGLaguna Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade and CREST are assisting with the event. There will be marshals at key intersections. If you have difficulty or identify other competitors with problems\, please let these marshals know\, and we will deploy the appropriate medical or logistical support. A sweep vehicle will collect any withdrawals and respond to any medical emergencies. \n\n\n\nPRIZES \n\n\n\nMedals will be awarded to 1st\, 2nd and 3rd places in each category. A licence from Mountain Bike Australia is held for this event. \n\n\n\nACCOMMODATIONWollombi has some very nice but very limited number of B & B and cottage accommodations. Have a look at the Wollombi Valley web page http://www.visitwollombi.com.au \n\n\n\nCAMPINGPLEASE CHECK WITH THE PUB BEFORE PLANNING TO CAMP. \n\n\n\nFree short-term camping is normally allowed on the grounds of the Wollombi Tavern. There are toilets but no showers. It is very close to the pub and race compound and a great spot to hang out the night before and after the race. Contact the pub to book some space on 4998 3261. \n\n\n\nNO BYO while the Tavern is open. Food and drinks are available seven days and nights. Please leave the area tidy. Dogs are allowed on a lead. \n\n\n\nPARKINGParking will be available on the southern side of the Tavern or along Great North Rd on the north side of Yango Creek Rd. To find out more about this fantastic gear\, visit the website here. \n\n\n\nATHLETE REGISTRATION\n\n\n\nAll athletes must register at Race HQ at the allocated times before the event. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION TIMES\n\n\n\nPlease refer to the Event Timetable for registration times \n\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING TO REGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\nA copy of your entry confirmation email (hard copy or electronic); and\n\n\n\nCompulsory Equipment for the equipment check\n\n\n\n\nAT REGISTRATION\n\n\n\n\nLine up in the queue as indicated by the signs at the Race HQ tent.\n\n\n\nOfficials will check that you have all the compulsory equipment\n\n\n\nAdvise officials of your name\n\n\n\nCheck your details on the registration screen.\n\n\n\nCollect your race bag.\n\n\n\nCollect pins for your race number at the table near the registration desk (if required).\n\n\n\nGet ready to Run!\n\n\n\n\nRACE NUMBERS\n\n\n\n\nIt is a race rule that all participants must have their race number visible on their front torso during the event. This is important as marshals will monitor competitors’ progress around the course and must be able to view each runner’s number. Non-compliance will result in penalties.\n\n\n\nThe race number can be worn on a race belt or attached to the outermost garment on your front torso using safety pins.\n\n\n\nEnsure the number is safely secured. If your number is lost on the course\, please report the loss to the Race Director immediately.\n\n\n\nParticipants are not permitted to enter the course without displaying their allocated number.\n\n\n\nNumbers are not to be cut\, altered\, disfigured\, damaged\, covered or obscured. Penalties\, disqualification and fines will apply in this circumstance.\n\n\n\n\nTIMING ANKLE BANDS\n\n\n\n\nAttach the timing band to your left ankle\, with the chip facing outwards. If you’re unsure\, please see one of our friendly marshals at Race HQ.\n\n\n\nEnsure the timing chip is fixed securely\, as it is the participants’ responsibility to return the timing strap on completion of the event. If the belt is not secure or there are any issues with the velcro\, please report this to an event marshal before the event’s start so this can be fixed before the start.\n\n\n\nParticipants agree to return the timing strap on completion of the race. If a timing chip is lost or not returned at the end of the event\, a $50 replacement fee will be charged to the participant’s credit card.\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTATIONS\n\n\n\nPresentations will occur when all or most athletes have finished the run. \n\n\n\nPlease refer to the Event Timetable for presentation times. \n\n\n\nPRIZES AND MEDALS\n\n\n\nFinishers’ medals will be presented to all participants who complete the entire course. Prizes and medallions will be presented for first place and medallions for second and third places. Participants are required to be present in person to collect category prizes and spot prizes. Based on past circumstances\, to ensure all prizes and medallions go to the rightful recipients\, it is impossible to give medals or prizes to other persons in the recipient’s absence. \n\n\n\nVENUE\n\n\n\n\nBREAKFAST | LUNCH | PREMIUM BEERS\n\n\n\n\nNestled between public parks\, the Surf Life Saving club and some of Fingal Bay’s most picturesque beaches\, Longboat Cafe at Fingal Bay serves beautiful breakfasts\, lovely lunches and premium beers. \n\n\n\nFrom Longboat Cafe\, you can watch your young ones playing in the joining park whilst indulging in our farm fresh and free-range menu items. With a pick-me-up coffee or an ice-cold treat\, your time enjoying the beach has just become the perfect day. Visit the Longboat Café website. \n\n\n\n\nFACILITIES AT FINGAL BAY FORESHORE\n\n\n\n\nFingal Bay Foreshore Reserve and Fingal Beach are scenic locations. The foreshore reserve has a large children’s playground\, beach pedestrian access and car parking. There is a dog off-leash exercise area within the budget. Please note that dogs are prohibited on the beach. \n\n\n\nFacilities include \n\n\n\n\nKiosk / Cafe\n\n\n\nPublic amenities & showers\, including disabled amenities\n\n\n\nCar Parking\n\n\n\nPlayground\n\n\n\nOutdoor exercise equipment\n\n\n\nBBQs\n\n\n\nPicnic seating\n\n\n\nBeach access and access to the Fingal Bay Surf Club\n\n\n\nDog off-leash exercise area\n\n\n\nBoat Ramp\n\n\n\n\n\nEVENT PARKING\n\n\n\n\nThere is ample parking located near Race HQ\, including: \n\n\n\n\nThe Surf Life Saving Club car park;\n\n\n\nOn Marine Drive; and\n\n\n\nIn the overflow parking area located at Fingal Bay Oval.\n\n\n\n\n\nPETS AT FINGAL BAY\n\n\n\n\nPets are permitted on a lead in the grassed area along the Fingal Bay foreshore\, and there is a dog off-leash exercise area within the reserve. Please note that dogs are prohibited on the beach. \n\n\n\nCOURSE & SAFETY BRIEF:\n\n\n\nThe Course & Safety Brief will take place at Race HQ.  For safety reasons\, all participants must attend the briefing with all equipment ready to start the event.  The brief will cover all the information you need to ensure a safe and enjoyable race and important information about the course and any changes on the day. \n\n\n\nThe event will start soon after the Safety Brief is finished. \n\n\n\n\nEVENT START\n\n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\nAfter the safety brief\, there is a short 75m walk to the start line on Fingal Bay Beach.  The half marathon will be a mass start on the beach. \n\n\n\n\n11.5K & 6K START\n\n\n\n\nAfter the safety brief\, there will be a short 200m walk to the start line in Tomaree National Park.  The event will commence with a mass start from the start point.  Please follow the instructions of the Race Director at the Start Brief. \n\n\n\n\nEVENT FINISH\n\n\n\n\nAll courses will finish at Fingal Bay Foreshore Reserve after a short run up Fingal Beach.
