SUMMARY:FROZEN LAKE RUN\, MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
DESCRIPTION:The Frozen Lake Marathon and Half Marathon is a unique running event\, it’s the only one we know about that is run entirely on water. Fortunately\, the waters of the Tisela Fjord in Norway at the end of March are frozen\, so it’s less challenging than it could be. But it’s still a challenge. Running on snow and ice is a skill in itself but one that you can quickly master. \nIt’s one lap of the 21.1k course for the half-marathon or twice around if you are running the full marathon. The Icebug Frozen Lake Marathon is limited to 500 runners of all abilities. Once you’ve mastered ice running you should be able to cover the distance quickly because this is the flattest race you’ll ever run and an experience you’ll never forget. \nTisela Fjord Jorden is located 819 meters above sea level in the Norwegian municipalities of Gol and Hemsedal\, which is 200K north of Oslo. \nFor the most part\, the ice on the lake is about 80 cm thick – with a carrying capacity of up to 30 tons. The course is plotted by a support team of ice experts who monitor the lake closely in the days leading up to the event and throughout the race. For maximum safety\, the final course is laid out just days before the race starts. Among other things\, the lake is used for testing vehicle tires\, emergency vehicles\, and drivers who want to test their skills in icy conditions\, so it’s not going to struggle to support the weight of 500 runners! \nTransport from Oslo \nWe have a dedicated bus transfer that will take you from Oslo airport to the hotel Oset\, the race HQ and your base throughout your four-night stay in Norway

SUMMARY:Reading Half Marathon – 14th April 2024
DESCRIPTION:The first ever Reading Half Marathon was organised and run in 1983 when the start and finish venue was Reading University at White Knights Park. There were 5\,000 runners and it was won by a 21-year-old local University student\, Mark Curzons in a time of 67.45. \n\n\n\nIn 2003 Sweatshop took over the organisation of the Reading Half Marathon. Sweatshop’s aim was to make the event all about the runner and ultimately create an experience that is worthy of this prestigious Half Marathon. Sweatshop made numerous changes to the course over the duration of their fifteenth-year organisational span which resulted in a fast route and an amazing finish in the magnificent Madejski Stadium. \n\n\n\n2018 marked a new chapter in the Reading Half Marathon as new organisers Goldline Events took to the helm that summer. With the aim of making the race even bigger and better\, we promised to not only continue the great work Sweatshop did but to enhance each and every runner’s experience. \n\n\n\nThe Reading Half Marathon not only takes in the highlights of the centre of Reading where you will experience huge crowd support but also still passes through the beautiful grounds of the University campus. The race culminates in a finish rarely found outside an Olympic stadium with over 15\,000 people cheering you into the stadium and over the finish line. \n\n\n\nSo whether you run for fun\, run to stay fit\, run for a club\, or run professionally the Reading Half Marathon has the organisational capability\, friendliness and reputation that are all second to none. \n\n\n\nEvent Details\n\n\n\n\nSUNDAY\, 14TH APRIL 2024\n\n\n\nReading\, United Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n\nUKA AFFILIATED CLUB MEMBER (AAA – MEDAL ONLY)- £45.00\n\n\n\nUKA AFFILIATED CLUB MEMBER (AAA – MEDAL\, GOODY BAG & FINISHER T-SHIRT)- £50.00\n\n\n\nNON – AAA (MEDAL ONLY)- £47.00\n\n\n\nNON-AAA (MEDAL\, GOODY BAG & FINISHER T-SHIRT)- £52.00

SUMMARY:Cyclopark Easter Duathlon 2024
DESCRIPTION:This year’s race will take place on the 16th April 2024 \n\n\n\nWe are now live for all our 2024 races. Also our midweek Duathlon league starts at the cyclopark starts on the 7th of May. \n\n\n\n5 races over five months and the best three times to count. Two distances GOTRi and a Sprint race. Still the same entry fee as 11 years ago. \n\n\n\n————————————————————————- \n\n\n\nDespite everything going I am happy to say that there are no price increases again this year. \n\n\n\nWe are also trying to save you money in these crazy times so if you want to race and don’t want yet another t-shirt use the code notop24 and it will give you a £5 discount on the race. \n\n\n\nAlso if you can help at the Bridge Triathlon on the 18th of June or the Midnight Man on the 12th of August we can give you free entries into other events. Email me on info@bridgetriathlon.co.uk for more information. \n\n\n\nThe race will now be starting at 8.45 am. \n\n\n\nThis link will help to understand what sort of training will help you to have a successful race Training plan  \n\n\n\nNew information about start times has been added below. \n\n\n\nThe race is limited to 100 entries in total for both races.  \n\n\n\nRace 1 – Long distance 10k Run/ 30k Bike/ 5k Run Enter Online \n\n\n\nRace 2 – Sprint 5k Run / 20k bike/ 5k Run Enter Online. \n\n\n\nRace 3 – GOTri 2.5k run/15k bike/2.5k run Enter Online \n\n\n\nEnter Here \n\n\n\nStart List \n\n\n\nVolunteers \n\n\n\nHow to find us \n\n\n\nBack to race calendar \n\n\n\nRun course \n\n\n\n2023 Results \n\n\n\n2022 Results  \n\n\n\n2021 Results \n\n\n\n2019 Results  \n\n\n\nWeather in Gravesend \n\n\n\nRace day information is below. \n\n\n\nRace run through \n\n\n\n\nThe gates will be open from 7.30 am\, and Registration will now open at 7.45 am in the café area. We suggest you get there early so you will have the chance to ride on the track before the race to warm up.\n\n\n\nHelmets must be worn at all times on the track.\n\n\n\nAll 3 the race will start at 8.45 am and the last competitor should finish by about 11.30am. Don’t worry there is no cut-off time for the run.\n\n\n\nThe race starts with two laps of 9k (or one 5k lap) as shown on the course map.\n\n\n\nThere will be water stations at the start of the second lap.\n\n\n\nAt this point\, you turn left to start your 2nd lap. For the Sprint you head back to the cycle park.\n\n\n\nThe GOTri is a 2.5k run. You will turn just before the bridge and head back down a bridal path.\n\n\n\nIt’s then back onto the track for a 30bike (12 laps) or 20k bike (8 laps) GOTri is 6 laps.\n\n\n\n\nIt’s easy to keep count if you have a speedo. If you don’t have one\, just time your first lap\, then just keep adding that time each time you finish a lap. You will get a bit slower\, but you should still be able to work it out. \n\n\n\nIt’s then back out onto the second run for 1 lap again for the Sprint and long course. The GOTri will turn again at the same place as the first lap just before the bridge. I will be there for the first lap\, directing you. \n\n\n\n\nWhen you run in and out of the cyclopark keep to the side and not run in the middle of the road. There will be a point on the Sprint and Long course race when you will come out on to a road for 400m. Keep tight to the left. It’s a very quiet road\, but you may still get the odd car.\n\n\n\nThere will also be bottles of water to take with you for the second run if you need them.\n\n\n\nThere will be 2 race briefs one at 8.30 for everyone doing the GOTri and at 8.40 am to go over the whole race.\n\n\n\nThe Prize giving will be after the last person has crossed the line.\n\n\n\nDue to the size of each race at the moment\, there will only be 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place trophies for males and females for each distance.\n\n\n\n\nAll our events are covered by BTF and our own Public liability insurance. \n\n\n\nFor information and Maps of the Cyclopark\, go to http://www.cyclopark.com. \n\n\n\nThere is parking and toilets on site\, and the coffee shop is now fully open. There is also a play area for children if you are bringing along the family. There will also be water at the finish for everyone after the race. \n\n\n\nYou are required to wear helmets while cycling at Cyclopark.  The helmet must be worn correctly at all times when with a bike. It’s going to be a warm day so keep drinking. \n\n\n\nWe hope you enjoy the race. \n\n\n\nJohn \n\n\n\nThe course record for the sprint is 1.06.33.  Thomas Bruins who is over from Australia was using the race as a warm up for Powerman Holland next weekend.  \n\n\n\n—————————————————————————————————————— \n\n\n\nDirections to the cyclo park \n\n\n\nThe TollgateWrotham RoadGravesendKentDA13 9AF (For Sat Nav please use DA11 7NP)

SUMMARY:Eastnor Mud Bath 3km Mini\, 6km and 10km
DESCRIPTION:Why run the Eastnor Castle Mud Bath   \n\n\n\nEastnor Castle is the home of the Land Rover test centre; over 60 miles of trails wind through the deer park and woodland\, which put the vehicles and drivers through the toughest of paces. These man-made trenches and troughs exaggerate the natural terrain to give a year-round muddy experience\, maintained with additional water\, these mud pits will be just as lovely in the summer as they would be in the winter! \n\n\n\nWe will be making the most of the terrain as it lies\, picking the muddiest trails the estate has to offer. There will be a few natural obstacles\, fallen trees to navigate\, gullies to cross and of course\, lots of mud to roll in! There are some good hills between the mud\, but like all our events\, everyone is always most welcome to come and take part. \n\n\n\nEastnor Backyard and Eastnor Mud Bath – one running weekend\, two very different routes \n\n\n\nThe Eastnor Backyard and Relay Races\, held on Saturday\, are held on tarmac roads and solid farm tracks. The start is now right on the Dam bridge. \n\n\n\nThere are just 90 metres of climbing on this course and a top runner in good conditions could break 30 minutes. SUMMARY:TrailFest - Cannock Chase Forest - Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, June 22\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  8:30 PM\n\n\n\nCannock Chase Forest\, WS15 2UAEnglandUnited Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nCannock Chase is in Staffordshire (WS15 2US). It is managed by Forestry England. \n\n\n\nCompetitor parking will be at the Tackeroo site (here on What 3 Words) and free. Spectators will need to park locally in the many car parks close to the start line. \n\n\n\nThe nearest train stations Rugeley Trent Valley and Rugeley Town are both approximately 2 miles away \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ TRail Running Association license there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. It will also (hopefully!) be warm and as such unsuitable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nIt’s pretty spectacular… and hilly! The route starts at the rifle range cadet hut and goes on a tour of fire roads and tighter single track routes around Cannock Chase. With no road crossings you can just put your head down and enjoy the amazing hills. \n\n\n\nEach route is tough. The half marathon consists of a 3 mile loop followed by 1x 10mile loop with over 1500ft of elevation. Punchy!! There are steep up and down hill sections on loose stones. It’s not scrambling and for experienced trail runners it’ll be nothing of great note. However\, for any “tarmac lovers” it might seem a little crazy! It is rewarding though\, I promise! The views are spectacular and the escapism is very real! \n\n\n\nThe route will be fully marked\, although having the route with you is very strongly advised. \n\n\n\nThe main elements of all the routes can be seen in the video. The forest is a living breathing habitat and as such things change\, species need to be protected and pathways rerouted sometimes. We will be based from the Tackeroo campsite and use the block of woodland opposite but this potentially could be changed if it is deemed necessary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\nBefore 19/05/2024 £30 \n\n\n\nAfter 19/05/2024 £35 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I have a pacer?\n\n\n\nThe short answer is no. \n\n\n\nPacers are generally only involved in longer ultras or when you’re running through the night. If you’ve got a friend or loved one who runs or walks with you for 100m as they pass you a jaffa cake\, no big deal. Want to run across the finish with your 3 year old you’ve made wait all day for you? Not a problem (we aren’t horrid!). Want to run back 200m and help your mate get to the finish inside the cut off after you’ve completed your run? Hero. If your running buddy happens to turn up unannounced and runs with your for 10 minutes – that’s not ok. Pacing doesn’t have to be pre-planned to be against the rules and ethos. \n\n\n\nWe would hope everyone is sensible enough to understand what pacing is. It’s not just about setting a running pace but giving someone a motivational lift too. No pacing but please get family and friends to support you loudly and proudly! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan my friends and family spectate?\n\n\n\nYes please!! \n\n\n\nHaving friends and family add atmosphere to the day is brilliant not only for you but for others in the events too. All we ask is they respect the event\, don’t block pathways and stay clear of the immediate aid station and HQ areas. There are miles of route to be on so there is no need to be in those areas. \n\n\n\nIf you’re worried what they’ll be able to get up to while you run.. We’ll have a coffee van with us and if they drive 1 mile down the road to Birches Valley there is a large Forestry England visitor centre with Go – Ape\, Grounds Cafe and amazing cycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMy training hasn’t gone to plan and I want to withdraw\n\n\n\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawl policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are more than fair and as such they will be adhered to. \n\n\n\nAre there cut offs?\n\n\n\nSort of. \n\n\n\n11 1/2 hours for the half marathon. \n\n\n\nThat is roughly 53 minute miles\, 1.2mph. That is obviously massive but consider the course\, time of year and terrain. The cut off is there to ensure we’re off-site before dark. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm these details on emails sent out in the last 4 weeks before the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I change distance after I’ve entered?\n\n\n\nYes. If you want to enter a longer event you will need to pay the difference in entry fee\, if you want to do the 10K there will be no refund of the difference. If you let me know more than 3 weeks before the event you’re bib will be changed to the corresponding event too. However\, if the bibs have been ordered then you’ll have to run with the “wrong” colour bib on. \n\n\n\nYou cannot change distance once the event starts as the routes are different. You can change distance on the day but this must be before the event starts. \n\n\n\nIf you need to clarify this please contact me directly. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nSort of! We’ve held a 50k (and 50 mile) event at Cannock Chase Forest since 2021 along with many 6 hour challenge and 10K night events in the forest. This is the first time we are holding a half marathon event here however. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up to this event you can select to have no finish line swag and instead we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe gpx of the route can be found here or by clicking the map at the bottom of this page. \n\n\n\nThe route may have to be changed\, Cannock Chase Forest is an active forest after all\, but this will be communicated with as much notice as possible. Recces of routes is always advisable but there is zero expectation of this. The route will be FULLY marked. We are often applauded for our marking\, there will be lots of it. \n\n\n\nThe dream for myself as an organiser is you have the gpx on your watch/phone for emergencies but you never have to use it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early season 50 miler in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K TrailFest is for you! \n\n\n\nWe’ve got 5 distances for you to chose from – 10K\, half marathon\, marathon\, 50k and 50 miles. Each distance has it’s own event page for the event specifics but most of the information applies to all of them and is listed here. \n\n\n\nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates we’ve got the perfect distance for you.

SUMMARY:Dragon Ride 2024
DESCRIPTION:Port Talbot\, West Glamorgan\, Margam Park\, Port Talbot\, SA13 2TJ\, United Kingdom\n\n\n\nSun 23rd June 2024\n\n\n\n5 races | £25.00 – £109.00\n\n\n\n\nORGANISER’S DESCRIPTION\n\n\n\nThe Dragon Ride is one of the oldest and most iconic sportives in the UK\, renowned as being the toughest and most legendary in the British Isles. It will\, once again\, be returning to Margam Park for what will be a special 20th edition in 2024 with lots of exciting surprises planned! \n\n\n\nLou Lusardi birthed the very first Dragon Ride in 2004\, with just 280 riders\, he was inspired by the popularity of Italian Gran Fondo’s in his home country. At the time there were only a handful of sportives in the UK and Lou saw an opportunity to bring this type of event to the Brecon Beacons. An insight that has proven correct and stood the test of time\, with thousands every year now slaying the gruelling Dragon Ride. \n\n\n\nCOURSE DETAILS\n\n\n\nFour incredible challenges\, which will you choose? \n\n\n\nFor 2021 we scoured the Brecon Beacons and our vault to redesign all 4 routes to recreate the routes in reverse for the first time in 12 years. Your feedback for these challenges in 2021\, 2022 & 2023 was excellent\, so for 2024 we will again be asking riders to take on one of these four epic challenges. Each route will begin and end at our event village in the beautiful Margam Park near Port Talbot and head into\, in our opinion\, the best riding in the UK. \n\n\n\nMacmillan100 = 100km (3 major climbs)Medio Fondo = 157km (6 major climbs)Gran Fondo = 213km (8 major climbs)Dragon Devil = 296km (10 major climbs)

SUMMARY:The Bridge Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The race takes place in one of the cleanest lakes in the south of England. The bike course is all on closed roads\, and it is ideal for anyone new to the sport of Triathlon. \n\n\n\nNew for 2019 – we are adding a Go Tri race to this year’s event. \n\n\n\nIn the event of us losing any part of the course we will turn the Triathlon into an alternative event. If we lose the road it will become an Aquabike. If we lose the lake it will become a Duathlon. Sorry no refund will be given as this will be out of our control. In the past 10 years\, this has not been a problem. \n\n\n\nThere are three different distances plus a team relay to choose from: a super sprint\, sprint and standard\, plus a relay option for the standard distance triathlon. \n\n\n\nWe are also running an Aqua Bike race. \n\n\n\nThe first wave goes off at 6.30 am and then every 15 minutes \n\n\n\nEstimated start times. \n\n\n\nStranded distance\, Relay and Aqua bike 6.30 am\,6\,45am\, 7.00 am \n\n\n\nSprint distance\, Relay and Aqua bike 7.00 am\, 7.15 am\, 7.30 am\, 7.45 am. \n\n\n\nGO TRI 8.00 am \n\n\n\n\nStandard Distance swim 1500m – bike 42km – run 10km\n\n\n\nRelay swim 1500m – bike 42km – run 10km\n\n\n\nSprint Distance swim 750m – bike 24km – run 5km\n\n\n\nGO TRI Distance swim 400m – bike 14km – run 3.3km\n\n\n\nAqua Bike swim 1500 – 42k bike.\n\n\n\nAqua Bike swim 750 – 22k bike
