Held each year in second week of December\, this year’s event to be held on 10th December and will be our eight in a row! \nThe beautiful river view\, tree-shaded route\, super smooth roads and professional organization make this one of the top marathons in India and has been duly acknowledeged as such in various magazines including National Geographic which says “Goa River Marathon is one of the 10 Great Marathons in the world”. \nThe marathon starts at 04:30 a.m. the half marathon at 6:00 AM; the 10KM competitive run at 07:30 AM and 5KM fun-walk-or-run event at 9:00 AM. You can run for sport or you can run for fun in fact\, we insist you have fun while you run. \nThis year SPGrm has not only decided award prize money to top 6 instead of top 3 in open category\, we’ve decided to reward fans and participants with special loyalty discounts. If you participated in any previous edition of Skechers Performance Skechers Performance Goa River Marathon\, a 6% discount will automatically be applied. If you participated in any two previous editions of Skechers Performance Skechers Performance Goa River Marathon\, a 8% discount will automatically be applied. DESCRIPTION:Bangalore Midnight Marathon\nThe Origin\nThe name ‘marathon’ comes from the legend of Pheidippides\, a Greek soldier\, who was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. \nIt is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the Senate\, exclaiming “Nenikékamen”\, ‘We have won’ or ‘We are victorious’ before collapsing and dying of exhaustion. \nThe Organizers\nThe humble efforts of a group of 25 like-minded people from RBITC culminated in the first edition of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon on 19th May 2007\, jointly organized with Crossover Sports Ltd.\, a leading sports and entertainment company. \nFirst of its kind in Asia\, the event attracted more than 4\,000 participants and was widely reported in India and the world over. Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC) was formed in June 2006 and has in the last few years funded and implemented several Community Projects in the area of primary health care\, rural livelihood provision through vocational training programs\, primary education by adopting government schools and supporting mid-day meal program and scores of other charitable\, community service and environmental initiatives. \n \nThe Cause\nProfessional athletes and enthusiastic runners alike join together to run for a specific cause each year\, which forms the theme of the marathon. The course takes competitors past tea plantations and sugar factories\, through 10\,000 year old rainforests\, along stunning countryside trails\, and down rushing rivers. During this unforgettable week\, competitors will experience the place\, the people\, and the beauty of this iconic country in full. \n\n\n1) The Course \nUltra X Sri Lanka takes place in a country nicknamed “The Pearl of the Indian Ocean”. \nThe event is based in Udawalawe\, which is located in the Ratnapura District in southern Sri Lanka.
