DESCRIPTION:Al Mouj Muscat Marathon\nThe 2019 edition of Al Mouj Muscat Marathon will be a two-day festival in Oman’s vibrant capital\, on 18th-19th January. \nThe Start\nIn 2018\, the event’s start and finish line was located in The Walk\, at the heart of Al Mouj\, Muscat’s premier leisure destination and title sponsor of the Marathon. An announcement regarding the location of the 2019 event’s start line will be made very soon. \nRace Pack Collection\nAll participants will receive a bib and technical shirt during race pack collection. Members of our team will be available on all days at this compulsory registration\, to explain the route and answer any additional questions. To offer flexibility to competitors we’ll be hosting a number of dates for race pack collection\, which will be announced in due course; please ensure that you bring your photo ID for verification. \nInternational competitors who require late race pack collection will be given the opportunity to request this at a later date. Please note that it’s the responsibility of each runner to ensure receipt of a confirmation email from the marathon team\, which acknowledges that the request has been received and can be accommodated. \nRace Schedule\nThe 2019 Al Mouj Muscat Marathon will be hosted on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th January\, once again featuring 6 race categories over two days. The whole family can participate in this iconic festival of running in Oman’s vibrant capital. \nFriday 18th January 2019\nMARATHON 42.195 KM\nMARATHON RELAY 42.195 KM\nHALF MARATHON 21.0975 KM\n10K RUN 10 KM \nSaturday 19th January 2019\nKIDS’ RUN 1 KM\, 2 KM & 3 KM\nCHARITY FUN RUN 5 KM\nTimings will be announced soon! \nRoute\nIn 2018\, the race started at Oman’s premier lifestyle destination\, Al Mouj and headed north along the coastline\, offering runners a flat\, scenic route which reached Al Seeb\, a coastal fishing city which is located several kilometres northwest of Muscat. With cool weather during the month of January\, the course was further enhanced by a gentle sea breeze\, offering perfect running conditions and the potential to be one of the fastest marathon routes in the Middle East. The 2019 Al Mouj Muscat Marathon route is still being finalised; check back here soon for updates. \nRoad Closures\nThroughout the weekend there will be traffic controls in place to ensure runners’ safety and enable the smooth flow of vehicles around the route. Road closures are generally avoided along the course\, but in the interests of looking after runners and spectators\, some are necessary for a limited time period and these will be announced in advance so that motorists can plan accordingly and potential delays on race days can be minimised \nSpectator Information\nWe’re looking forward to welcoming you to a weekend festival of running at the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2019. Join us and show your support to the competitors from the 85 different nations who are expected to be running the course in 2019! \nNo vehicles\, motorbikes\, bicycles or pedestrians are allowed on the course. Whilst you’re welcome at the race’s start and finish line\, spectators are also invited to place themselves right at the heart of the action at different points along the course. Motivation matters on the marathon route and this are your opportunity to provide support to your friends and family at key moments along their incredible journey. More details on the routes for 2019 will be announced very soon so you can plan your day in detail. \nRace Day is also your opportunity to win big! An entertainment zone will offer games\, music and plenty of family fun\, from early morning on each of the two race days. \nRace Village\nCatering for competitors and their supporters\, 2019 Al Mouj Muscat Marathon Race Village will feature fantastic activities and free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Ranging from an athletes’ recovery zone\, to interactive activities and unique shopping experiences\, the race village will host local SMEs and international sports brands. More information about the entertainment that’s going to be on offer will be released soon! \nParking\nFor your safety and ease of travel we request and encourage runners\, families and spectators to share a car. There will be a number of parking areas provided for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2019. Information will be released nearer to the event date\, which will provide an indication of each area’s suitability for the different race categories – plus opening and closing times.
