SUMMARY:Run The Grim Reaper 2025
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that The Grim Reaper is back at the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate in South Lincolnshire on May 24 & 25\, 2025. Runners have the option of four solo distances – 10\, 40\, 70 & 100 miles – plus 40-mile and 100-mile team relay options. There will be two 10-mile races\, one in the morning and a night version. \n\n\n\nExpect a mix of estate roads\, limestone tracks and grass trails. Trail shoes are recommended\, especially in damp/wet conditions. \n\n\n\nThe new direction for the Grim Reaper\n\n\n\nThe Grim Reaper was relaunched in 2023 by Steve Cole & Laura Bailey\, runners local to the Grimsthorpe Estate who compete in races of distances from 10km up to 100 miles. Their plan was to create an event that catered for runners of all abilities in a stunning location with a friendly\, supportive vibe. It’s fair to say that the 260+ runners in 2023 feel they achieved that goal\, judging by the 4.8* (out of 5) rating on Letsdothis.com. \n\n\n\nLocated at the beautiful Grimsthorpe Castle\n\n\n\nThe route is a 10-mile loop that covers beautiful grass trails through ancient woodland\, limestone tracks\, quiet estate roads and a stretch along a disused Victorian railway line. It also skirts around the picturesque estate lake before reaching the start/finish point in front of the castle itself. \n\n\n\nWe class this as an ‘undulating’ trail course with no major hills to contend with\, making it ideal for those new to ultra-running\, looking to take the next step to a longer distance or aiming for a PB. The course will be fully marked. \n\n\n\nRoute / Aid Stations\n\n\n\nThe 10-mile loop around the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate includes a mix of grass trails through ancient woodland\, quiet estate roads\, limestone tracks and even a disused Victorian railway line. You also skirt around the beautiful Grimsthorpe lake before reaching the start/finish point in front of the Castle itself. \n\n\n\nMedics\n\n\n\nThere will be fully qualified medics onsite throughout the event. \n\n\n\nAid Stations\n\n\n\nIf you are running one of the ultra-distances\, you are expected to be self-sufficient and manage your own supplies. You are encouraged to bring your own tent/shelter\, which can be left close to the start/finish point. There will be an Aid Station at mile 5 stocked with limited snacks & water. There will also be a toilet located at the aid station. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\nFood DrinkThere will be hot food and hot/cold drinks available to purchase throughout the event (from 6am on Saturday until 10am on Sunday).\n\n\n\nCourse MarkedYes.\n\n\n\nTerrainExpect a mix of estate roads\, limestone tracks and grass trail. Trail shoes are recommended\, especially in damp/wet conditions.\n\n\n\nElevation550ft per lap.\n\n\n\nCampingRunners are permitted to camp on-site on the Friday and Saturday nights. You are free to walk the whole course to cheer on competitors. There will be food and drink available to purchase. \n\n\n\nPacers (70 & 100 mile runners only)\n\n\n\nPermitted from mile 50 and on foot only. However\, you can defer your place to 2025 up to 4-weeks prior to the race (April 27). After this our race day costs\, which are based on numbers\, have been incurred. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to transfer your place to another runner\, please email hello@bogdogrunning.co.uk with the runner’s name\, address\, date of birth\, gender and any medical information. Transfers after May 3 will incur a £5 admin fee. \n\n\n\nQualification Standard\n\n\n\nWhilst there is no official qualification standard\, we suggest the following: \n\n\n\n40-mile runners: Comfortable running 15 to 20-mile distances regularly. \n\n\n\n70-mile runners: Comfortable running marathon to 50km distances regularly. There is a very generous cut-off limit so those walking still have a good chance of finishing. \n\n\n\n100-mile runners: Have completed at least a 50-mile distance within a year of the event\, with a finish time of at least 13-hours. \n\n\n\nEntries\n\n\n\nYou cannot change the distance you have selected upon entry. If you enter the 100-mile race and decide to drop out at mile 70\, you are classed as a DNF. Likewise\, if you enter the 70-mile race\, finish this distance and feel good enough to attempt the 100\, you cannot upgrade to this distance. \n\n\n\nRules\n\n\n\n\nRunners must follow the marked course at all times. Any runner found cutting the course will be instantly disqualified.\n\n\n\nYour bib numbers must be on the front of your shirt/shorts and visible at all times.\n\n\n\nRunners may not stash food/supplies on the course.\n\n\n\nLittering will mean instant disqualification.\n\n\n\nRunners are responsible for the actions of their pacers!\n\n\n\nPacers are permitted from mile 50 only and must be on foot.\n\n\n\nOnly one pacer at any one time.\n\n\n\nRunners must carry mandatory kit equipment at ALL times.\n\n\n\nYou must comply with all instructions given at the race briefing.\n\n\n\nIf you are unable to finish the race you MUST inform the race directors.\n\n\n\nWalking poles are permitted\n\n\n\nRunners/walkers in the 10-mile solo races only can have a dog with them. However\, this is not a canicross event\, therefore they must start at the back of the field and be comfortable not to ‘race’. Dogs MUST be kept on a lead as there is Livestock on the Estate.\n\n\n\n\nPricing\n\n\n\n\n10-mile Day: £32\n\n\n\n10-mile Night: £32\n\n\n\n40-miles: £85\n\n\n\n40-miles\, teams of 4 max: £125\n\n\n\n70-miles: £130\n\n\n\n100-miles: £150\n\n\n\n100-miles\, teams of max 5: £285\n\n\n\n\nAll finishers receive a medal. SUMMARY:Petzl Night Runner - Salcey Forest
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, March 7\, 2025\n\n\n\n7:00 PM  9:00 PM\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HX\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry Commission site with a cafe and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs. You do have to pay to park (£2 for the evening at the time of writing). That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! It is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton If you want to see what the venue is like watch the venue preview here. \n\n\n\nWon’t it be dark? We hope so! You need a head or chest to torch to run in this event. No torch no run. \n\n\n\nOur friends from Petzl will be with us so you can test out the best head torches around on the night. If you’ve got a cheap headtorch from Amazon\, you’ll be able to tell the difference immediately. We’ll have more to announce on this closer to the event. \n\n\n\nWho are Petzl?\n\n\n\nPetzl are the industry leader in high-quality head torches. We’re very lucky to be hosting some of their “Night Runner” events. We’ve got 1 at Cannock Chase Forest and 2 at Salcey Forest this winter. There is a reason the top ultra runners in the world use their head torches\, when you need the trail lit up they are simply the best. When trail running at night you want to make sure youyr head torch won’t let you down and your Petzl won’t. \n\n\n\nThey’ll be at the event with their demo kit for you to try on before\, during or after the event. Can I run with my dog? Yes!! \n\n\n\nWe had canicross at our series last year and it was a great success. We request that your dog be lit up (lights on it’s harness rather than wrapping the dog in Christmas lights!)\, you keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll start the canicross runners off a couple of minutes before the main field. Please read our general canicross rules here. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm the exact timings for this closer to the event but it is likely the canicross start time will be around 18:50. Please make sure you enter the Canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather closer to the event. It is fundamentally on crushed stone however with tree detritus the ground can become a bit slippy and mucky. The route is fully marked and essentially a 2 lap course. Salcey Forest is fundamentally flat – but any sort of uphill on a 10k feels like a mountain! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nBefore 07/02/2025 £16 & After 07/02/2025 £21 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! Enter all 3 parts of the series for only £43/£49 up until the first event at Cannock Chase Forest closes for entry. \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\n10k! This might seem a bit pointless to mention given the name but this is different to a normal Big Bear Event. You’ll get the same love\, a medal and some goodies but you can’t run all night! \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events?\n\n\n\nYes\, but not for this event. Unlike our other events we will have some biodegradable cups with water/electrolyte available on the course and we will have hot drinks available before and after too. If you have a foldable cup you can bring\, even better but we don’t insist on it for our short races. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes! We’ve won multiple Racecheck Gold Awards for these events and have over 150 reviews scoring us at 4.8 out of 5! Albeit under our previous name for these events. Different name\, same great event – you’ll love it! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Earth Runs will be perfect! Rather than give you a medal you don’t really want (and to help reduce waste) we’ll give you a Big Bear Tree Token. Not only will a tree be planted for each token given out but the token is also full of wildflower seeds for you to grow at home!

SUMMARY:Bacchus Wine Half Marathon & 10k
DESCRIPTION:Amongst oenphiles\, English wine has been an open secret for some time\, and there is no better place to sample it than Denbies Vineyard in Dorking on September 8\, 2024. The catch is that you’ll have to do a bit of running as well as part of the Bacchus Wine Half Marathon and 10K. \n\n\n\nSet in the stunning surroundings of the North Downs\, Bacchus is one of the must-do events on the UK running calendar. Most of the field turns out in a fancy dress\, and there are bands and other musical entertainment around the course\, but it’s the drinks stations on the route that separate Bacchus from other running races and epitomise the spirit of the event. \n\n\n\nHalf-marathon runners will have the chance to sample six fabulous award-winning English wines at five drinks stations along the course (you visit one station twice\, going out and coming back) with food and soft drinks to accompany them. If you are running the 10K you’ll visit two of the wine stations. For all runners there’s more food\, drink and music waiting for you at the finish at the post-race hog roast where the party carries on long into the evening. Non-running friends or supporters can purchase the same food and drinks at the post-race hog roast. \n\n\n\nVOLUNTEERS \n\n\n\nWe are always looking for extra volunteers who can help at the start/finish area with late registration\, hand out medals and T-shirts at the finish or serve drinks and food at the drinks stations. It’s a fun way to take part in the event if you are not running and all our volunteers receive free entry to one of our future UK events\, a goody bag of products and a ticket to the post-race hog-roast. Send a note to info@209events.com if you are interested in being a volunteer.

SUMMARY:Eastnor Mud Bath 3km Mini\, 6km and 10km
DESCRIPTION:Why run the Eastnor Castle Mud Bath   \n\n\n\nEastnor Castle is the home of the Land Rover test centre; over 60 miles of trails wind through the deer park and woodland\, which put the vehicles and drivers through the toughest of paces. These man-made trenches and troughs exaggerate the natural terrain to give a year-round muddy experience\, maintained with additional water\, these mud pits will be just as lovely in the summer as they would be in the winter! \n\n\n\nWe will be making the most of the terrain as it lies\, picking the muddiest trails the estate has to offer. There will be a few natural obstacles\, fallen trees to navigate\, gullies to cross and of course\, lots of mud to roll in! There are some good hills between the mud\, but like all our events\, everyone is always most welcome to come and take part. \n\n\n\nEastnor Backyard and Eastnor Mud Bath – one running weekend\, two very different routes \n\n\n\nThe Eastnor Backyard and Relay Races\, held on Saturday\, are held on tarmac roads and solid farm tracks.
