SUMMARY:Otter Challenge
DESCRIPTION:EVENT SUMMARY\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, September 10\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nKingsbury Water Park\, B76 0DY (map)\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\nWhere Is It?\n\n\n\nKingsbury Water Park is near Sutton Coldfield\, B76 0DY. The What 3 Words location is here. It is managed by Warwickshire County Council. Parking costs £4.95. There is a cafe and toilet block next to the HQ on site. The nearest train station Coleshill Parkway is approximately 5 miles away. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. It is an event that enables all abilities of runner to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively\, you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30\, having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events\, or enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe route takes you around many of the pools of Kingsbury Water Park. The conditions underfoot are mixed with sections of grass\, gravel tracks and a few very short sections of asphalt. the views are great\, and you’re guaranteed to see a plethora of wildfowl. \n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather at the time of the event. Kingsbury Water Park floods very easily\, and if there has been heavy rain\, the ground will be sodden. As always we’ll update runners closer to the event as to the exact conditions. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 10/08/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 10/08/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever? \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile lap at Kingsbury Water Park means your race can be just over 5k or\, given the relatively flat nature of the course\, potentially 50+ miles! You decide how many laps you are going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 8 laps\, and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes\, many times! You can find the previous results here. \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about! \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands\, we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack.\n\n\n\nIn that case\, our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up for this event\, you can select to have no finish line swag\, and instead\, we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees\, who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNo\, our canicross season goes from October – March. \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe route gpx can be found here\, or visit plotaroute.com here. The route may be subject to last-minute changes\, and there will be plenty of markings up on race day\, so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! Why not load your car boot with snacks and goodies\, get some mates to join you and have your own Big Bear event! \n\n\n\nFull details on our Big Bear On-Demand events are here.

SUMMARY:Run The Grim Reaper 2025
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that The Grim Reaper is back at the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate in South Lincolnshire on May 24 & 25\, 2025. Runners have the option of four solo distances – 10\, 40\, 70 & 100 miles – plus 40-mile and 100-mile team relay options. There will be two 10-mile races\, one in the morning and a night version. \n\n\n\nExpect a mix of estate roads\, limestone tracks and grass trails. Trail shoes are recommended\, especially in damp/wet conditions. \n\n\n\nThe new direction for the Grim Reaper\n\n\n\nThe Grim Reaper was relaunched in 2023 by Steve Cole & Laura Bailey\, runners local to the Grimsthorpe Estate who compete in races of distances from 10km up to 100 miles. Their plan was to create an event that catered for runners of all abilities in a stunning location with a friendly\, supportive vibe. It’s fair to say that the 260+ runners in 2023 feel they achieved that goal\, judging by the 4.8* (out of 5) rating on Letsdothis.com. \n\n\n\nLocated at the beautiful Grimsthorpe Castle\n\n\n\nThe route is a 10-mile loop that covers beautiful grass trails through ancient woodland\, limestone tracks\, quiet estate roads and a stretch along a disused Victorian railway line. It also skirts around the picturesque estate lake before reaching the start/finish point in front of the castle itself. \n\n\n\nWe class this as an ‘undulating’ trail course with no major hills to contend with\, making it ideal for those new to ultra-running\, looking to take the next step to a longer distance or aiming for a PB. The course will be fully marked. \n\n\n\nRoute / Aid Stations\n\n\n\nThe 10-mile loop around the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate includes a mix of grass trails through ancient woodland\, quiet estate roads\, limestone tracks and even a disused Victorian railway line.
