SUMMARY:TrailFest | Salcey Forest
DESCRIPTION:What is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early-season 50 km in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K\, TrailFest is for you! \nWe’ve four distances for you to choose from: 10K\, half marathon\, marathon\, and 50 km. A distance to suit everyone! \nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates\, we’ve got the perfect distance for you. \nWe’ve got very generous cut-off times too\, to try and remove some of those barriers to new people trying out the sport. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use postcode NN7 2HX for your Sat Nav. It is located here on What3Words. \nYou do have to pay to park (between £3.80 – £9 at the time of writing).  That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9 am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes (check for Sunday times) \nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ Trail Running Association license\, there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\nThe different routes all use similar sections of the forest. The majority of the routes are along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt (except 2 road crossings for the longer events!\,) and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event\, but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n10K\nHalf Marathon\nMarathon\n50K\n\n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £20 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £35 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £51 \n\n\nBefore 28/06/2026 | £62 \n\n\n\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £25\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £40\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £56\nAfter 28/06/2026 | £72\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! If you were on our Very Important Bear mailing list\, you could have also saved 20% before the event was launched! \n\nCan I run as many laps as I want?\nNot at this event. This may seem an odd question to answer but given the majority of our events are 6 hour lapped events it’s one I’m sure people will have! \n  \nWhat are the timings for each event?\n\n\n\nEvent\nRegistration Open\nEvent Start\n\n\n50 km\n07:00\n08:00\n\n\nMarathon\n07:00\n08:30\n\n\nHalf Marathon\n08:00\n09:00\n\n\n10 km\n08:00\n09:00\n\n\n\n\nCan I have crew or pacers?\nYes and no. You can have crew\, they’re really helpful for longer events\, but you cannot have pacers. To be clear\, that means no-one can run with you or walk alongside you for any period of time except in the final 100m or so. \n\nAre there cut-offs?\nYes\, but they’re pretty generous! The cutoff for the event is 19:00. For the 50 km event\, this means an 11-hour cutoff\, or a 21-minute/mile pace. All other events have the same 19:00 cutoff – so that’s 10 hours to complete the 10k! \n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events?\nThat’s right! Discover how we host cupless events here. For clarity\, that means there are zero cups at the aid stations. If you want liquid\, you need to bring a cup! \n\nIs there a mandatory kit?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is different for different distances and strictly enforced for each piece of mandatory kit missing 1 hour will be added to your finish time. For 10k entrants there is no mandatory kit although a cup/bottle for water is strongly recommended. There are NO CUPS at this event. If you don’t carry a cup you cannot drink water! \nHalf marathon/Marathon/50k entrants a cup/bottle capable of holding 200ml minimum is mandatory. It’ is strongly advised to carry a foil blanket and a charged mobile phone. \nThese are mandatory minimum’s if you want to carry more or extra kit then please do so\, this is to make you safe not to make you run to your best ability. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I need to withdraw?\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawal policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are fairer than most and as such they will be adhered to. \n\nSummary Details:\n\nSunday\, June 28\, 2026\n8:00 AM  7:00 PM\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HXUnited Kingdom\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nTrailFest Salcey Forest – Marathon FINAL \n\n\n\n \n\n\nTrailFest – Salcey Forest 50K FINAL \n\n\n\n \n\nTrailFest – Salcey – HM \n\n\n\n \n\nTrailFest – Salcey Forest – 10K FINAL

SUMMARY:The GRIM Challenge
DESCRIPTION:About the event:\nGRIM is a tough trail race in which you will certainly find yourself at times cold\, wet and dirty\, it is not an obstacle race\, it’s a running event. SUMMARY:Run The Grim Reaper 2025
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that The Grim Reaper is back at the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate in South Lincolnshire on May 24 & 25\, 2025. Runners have the option of four solo distances – 10\, 40\, 70 & 100 miles – plus 40-mile and 100-mile team relay options. There will be two 10-mile races\, one in the morning and a night version. \n\n\n\nExpect a mix of estate roads\, limestone tracks and grass trails. Trail shoes are recommended\, especially in damp/wet conditions. \n\n\n\nThe new direction for the Grim Reaper\n\n\n\nThe Grim Reaper was relaunched in 2023 by Steve Cole & Laura Bailey\, runners local to the Grimsthorpe Estate who compete in races of distances from 10km up to 100 miles. Their plan was to create an event that catered for runners of all abilities in a stunning location with a friendly\, supportive vibe. It’s fair to say that the 260+ runners in 2023 feel they achieved that goal\, judging by the 4.8* (out of 5) rating on Letsdothis.com. \n\n\n\nLocated at the beautiful Grimsthorpe Castle\n\n\n\nThe route is a 10-mile loop that covers beautiful grass trails through ancient woodland\, limestone tracks\, quiet estate roads and a stretch along a disused Victorian railway line. It also skirts around the picturesque estate lake before reaching the start/finish point in front of the castle itself. \n\n\n\nWe class this as an ‘undulating’ trail course with no major hills to contend with\, making it ideal for those new to ultra-running\, looking to take the next step to a longer distance or aiming for a PB. The course will be fully marked. \n\n\n\nRoute / Aid Stations\n\n\n\nThe 10-mile loop around the stunning Grimsthorpe Castle Estate includes a mix of grass trails through ancient woodland\, quiet estate roads\, limestone tracks and even a disused Victorian railway line. You also skirt around the beautiful Grimsthorpe lake before reaching the start/finish point in front of the Castle itself. \n\n\n\nMedics\n\n\n\nThere will be fully qualified medics onsite throughout the event. \n\n\n\nAid Stations\n\n\n\nIf you are running one of the ultra-distances\, you are expected to be self-sufficient and manage your own supplies. You are encouraged to bring your own tent/shelter\, which can be left close to the start/finish point. There will be an Aid Station at mile 5 stocked with limited snacks & water. There will also be a toilet located at the aid station. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDETAILS\n\n\n\n\nFood DrinkThere will be hot food and hot/cold drinks available to purchase throughout the event (from 6am on Saturday until 10am on Sunday).\n\n\n\nCourse MarkedYes.\n\n\n\nTerrainExpect a mix of estate roads\, limestone tracks and grass trail. DESCRIPTION:If you’re looking for a traffic-free 10K in a stunning setting\, then look no further than the Longleat 10K; starting in front of the magnificence of Longleat House\, the race takes in the estates’ private and traffic-free roads\, with only a short excursion of 400m on public highways as you pass the Bath Arms Public House before the final mile downhill to the finish. \n\n\n\nThe route is undulating to hilly\, with a significant climb tackled twice: once soon after the start and the second towards the end. Your reward for that second climb\, though\, is the final downhill run along Lodge Drive towards Longleat House and the finish. \n\n\n\nFor children and family or friends\, we welcome you to enter the Longleat 2-Mile Fun Run. This popular support event covers the first lap of the 10K up the hill through to the Bath Arms\, finishing with the magnificent run down Lodge Drive before crossing the line. \n\n\n\nEntries will close when we reach the entry limit of 1600 runners in the 10K (the 2-mile race is limited to 100 runners) \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nStart time 10km – 10am / 2 Miles \n\n\n\n10km: \n\n\n\n\nMinimum age 15 years\n\n\n\nMedals to all finishers\n\n\n\nFree race photos\n\n\n\nLongleat 10K headscarf\n\n\n\nPrizes to first 3 Male & Female / 1st M & F 40\, 50\n\n\n\nFree Parking\n\n\n\nRefreshments on site\n\n\n\n\n2 Miles \n\n\n\n\nMinimum age 8 years\n\n\n\nMedals to all finishers\n\n\n\nFree race photos\n\n\n\nPrizes to the first 3 Male & Female\n\n\n\nFree Parking\n\n\n\nRefreshments on site\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Dormouse Challenge
DESCRIPTION:EVENT SUMMARY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, November 20\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HXUnited Kingdom (map)\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\nWhere Is It?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs (W3W). \n\n\n\nYou do have to pay to park (between £4-£6 at the time of writing).  That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \n\n\n\nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes. \n\n\n\nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \n\n\n\nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runners to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively\, you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30\, having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events\, or enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve had great success at events with canicross\, and we’re pleased to add this event too. You must keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll most likely start the canicross runners off with the main field depending on numbers. Please read our general canicross rules here. Please make sure you enter the canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe route is along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. Obviously\, being in the middle of a forest\, the narrower ones are covered in tree detritus and can become a bit muddy and grimy\, especially when wet. On a dry day road shoes will be perfectly acceptable\, on a wet day trail shoes may be a better bet as some parts can become a bit slippy. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 20/10/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 20/10/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.5-mile off-road loop means your race can be 5k or even over 80K and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you’re going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 7 laps (+ a little out and back)\, and a half marathon will be 3 laps (+ an out and back). \n\n\n\nWhat’s an Altra try-on event?\n\n\n\nOur friends at Altra will be coming along with a complete set of a few different models of their amazing foot-shaped shoes for you to try out on the trails! Simply take your size out for a lap or 3 and see what you think. \n\n\n\nI\, Paul\, am I a big fan of Altra and have been wearing them pretty much exclusivly since 2018. They are different (in a good way!)\, and so being able to go for an actual run on an actual trail is a great opportunity. The lapped format means if you don’t get on with them it’s just one lap of discomfort – not your whole event! \n\n\n\nNo catches\, no hard sell and no ruined event! We’re just trying to add something else to your day. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes. We’ve run at Salcey Forest many times in the past. You can view previous results and the course records here. \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack.\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up for this event\, you can select to have no finish line swag\, and instead\, we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees\, who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe route gpx can be found here\, or visit plotaroute.com here. The route may be subject to last minute changes and there will be plenty of markings up on race day so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event.\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app\, you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! Why not load your car boot with snacks and goodies\, get some mates to join you and have your own Big Bear event! \n\n\n\nFull details on our Big Bear On-Demand events are here. \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you!

SUMMARY:Spooky Midweek Chasing Numbers November 2024
DESCRIPTION:Event Details Summary:\n\n\n\n\n1 November 2024\n\n\n\nWraysbury Skiff and Punting Club\, Riverside\, Egham\, UK\n\n\n\nFriday\n\n\n\n08:30am\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Event\n\n\n\nJoin us for a Spooky Chasing Numbers midweek run. The aim of our midweek runs is to hold events as cheaply as possible in order for people to be able to build their numbers or simply to help people achieve their own goals at an affordable price. \n\n\n\nThe midweek runs are fully flexible with start times available from 7.30am with time to run all the way to 3.30pm! Now that’s a FLEXIBLE FRIDAY \n\n\n\nAll abilities are welcome at our super-inclusive events and we also welcome walkers too. \n\n\n\nDistance & Time\n\n\n\nThis is a 7 hour Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km\, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7 hour time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon\, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra\, we also have a 50km distance available. \n\n\n\nCourse\n\n\n\nThe course along a beautiful stretch of the River Thames. The remainder is grass and light trail which can get muddy at certain times of the year. Road shoes can be used all year round but if you prefer the extra grip on the trail sections then trail shoes can be worn. \n\n\n\nThe regular course is subject to some change near the time of the event depending on our health and safety review of the course and council / land owner final approval. \n\n\n\nMedals & Pins\n\n\n\nAs long as you complete one lap\, you will be an official finisher and you will receive one of our fantastic themed medals. The conditions underfoot are mixed with sections of grass\, gravel tracks and a few very short sections of asphalt. the views are great\, and you’re guaranteed to see a plethora of wildfowl. \n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather at the time of the event. Kingsbury Water Park floods very easily\, and if there has been heavy rain\, the ground will be sodden. As always we’ll update runners closer to the event as to the exact conditions. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 10/08/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 10/08/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up for the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever? \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile lap at Kingsbury Water Park means your race can be just over 5k or\, given the relatively flat nature of the course\, potentially 50+ miles! You decide how many laps you are going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 8 laps\, and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes\, many times! You can find the previous results here. \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about! \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands\, we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack.\n\n\n\nIn that case\, our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up for this event\, you can select to have no finish line swag\, and instead\, we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees\, who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNo\, our canicross season goes from October – March. \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe route gpx can be found here\, or visit plotaroute.com here. The route may be subject to last-minute changes\, and there will be plenty of markings up on race day\, so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing.
