SUMMARY:Thames Path 100
DESCRIPTION:The TP100 is a 100-mile continuous trail race along the Thames Path from London to Oxford. Total Climb: 1900 feet. 15th Annual.\nThe 100-mile course is a marked point-to-point race which takes runners from Richmond in South West London to the centre of Oxford. The course follows the meandering route of the Thames against its flow and is flat and fast\, with the majority on groomed paths/ trails and paved pathways. There are some truly stunning sections of the route showing off the best of English riverside scenery and life on the Thames. Held under an official UKA Permit granted through the Trail Running Association (Permit Number Pending). \n\nGeneral Info\n\n\nEntries\nEntries for the 2026 Event open on Saturday May 24th 2024 at 1000. Runners must meet the minimum qualification standard below\, to apply. Volunteers from 2025 get priority free entry prior to general entries going on sale. \nThe Entry fee is £220 (£222 unaffiliated runners). \nRunners may also enter the TP100 as part of the 100 mile Grand Slam. To take part in the Slam\, runners can enter each event individually\, or buy a Grand Slam ticket which gets you entry to all four 100 Mile Slam events. Information on the Grand Slam\, and how to enter it can be found by clicking here. \nEntries are available on a first come first served basis. No waiting list will be held for this event and no entries will be taken on the day. \nQualification Standard\nIn order to enter you must have completed a minimum of a 50 mile distance race within 15hrs\, between 1st January 2020 and race day. As organisers\, we reserve the right to refuse anybody entry who does not meet this standard. Unqualified runners may enter but will be contacted approximately 8 weeks prior to race to verify qualification plans if they have not updated their online information by this time. \nClick here to read more about what counts as a qualifier \nStart/ Finish Location\nRace HQ is at Richmond Old Town Hall overlooking the river and a short walk from Richmond station. The race starts on Richmond New Waterfront\, adjacent to the river and just a one minute walk from the Hall. \nThe finish location is Queen’s College Sports Ground just a few hundred yards from the city centre. Runners will turn left off of the Thames Path just before the Head of the River Pub which looms over the Thames Path from Oxford City Centre\, and turn directly in to the finishing chute in front of the pavilion. We are very privileged to be allowed to finish in the grounds of Oxford University. \nRoute\nThe 2026 race route remains on the Thames Path from the outset until the finish line with one minor deviation to Clifton Hampden aid station on route which will be clearly marked on race day. Diversions in place in 2025 due to structural issues with bridges\, weirs and the paths will all be assessed and factored in for 2026 nearer the time. We are hopeful that they will not add much if anything extra to the 2026 route. \nA map of the route can be found at the bottom of this page. \nCut Offs\nRunners must finish within a 30 hour time limit. There are cut offs at every aid station on route\, designed with the purpose of keeping runners on course to finish within that 30 hour limit. \nAwards\n100 mile Centurion Buckle to all finishers. Runners finishing the course in under 24 hours will receive ‘100 miles – One Day’ buckles commemorating their achievement. Contact numbers and full details of what to do in an emergency will be given to you in the pre race information packs and again at race registration. Due to the nature of the course ie. some off road\, the medics may take some time to reach you\, or potentially be out of contact tending to other runners. In those instances you should contact the emergency services on 999. If you are injured but able to walk\, please make your way to the nearest aid station where there will either be a medic\, or an aid station captain will immediately get in touch with medical care should you require it/ arrange for transport out. If you suffer a severe injury or encounter someone in serious difficulty please call both 999 for emergency ambulance services and the course medics. If you come across a fallen runner please remain with them until help arrives. \nKit\n75% of the course is on trail. Be prepared for all conditions. \nThere will be kit checks prior to\, during and after the race. Runners must carry the following mandatory equipment at all times. A time penalty of one hour will be imposed for any item found to be missing at any point on the course. Please refer to this page for explanations on the inclusion of the items below. \nThere are many options regarding kits for fulfilling these requirements and those of other events. SUMMARY:Summer 10K
DESCRIPTION:Where is it?\n\n\n\n\nCoombe Abbey Park\, Coventry is run and managed by Coventry City Council. The What 3 Words location is here.\n\n\n\n\nParking costs up £3 for 1-2 hours. There is a toilet block next to the HQ on site. Coombe Abbey Park (CV3 2AB) is on the outskirts of Coventry and 6 minutes from Junction 2 of the M6. The closest train station is Coventry. \n\n\n\nIf you want to see what the venue is like watch the venue preview here. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\n\nNo\, it’s likely to be too warm\, even later in the day to be running with dogs.\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nYou’ll be running through woodland\, meadow and over grass fields. Depending on the weather leading up to the event this could mean muddy\, not so muddy or rock hard! There will be exposed trees roots\, uneven surfaces and a few gates to navigate but the running will always have a view. \n\n\n\nThe route is undulating but not hilly. A truly great venue and route! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 11/06/2025 £16\n\n\n\nAfter 11/06/2025 £21\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\n10k! This might seem a bit pointless to mention given the name but this is different to a normal Big Bear Event. You’ll get the same love\, a medal and some goodies but you can’t run all night! \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events?\n\n\n\nYes\, but not for this event. Unlike our other events we will have some biodegradable cups with water/electrolyte available on the course. If you have a foldable/collapsible cup you can bring\, even better but we don’t insist on it for our short races. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes! We have won a Racecheck Gold Award for this event in 2024 and have won Gold awards in previous years. It has over 150 reviews scoring it at 4.8 out of 5! You’ll love it! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal..\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Earth Runs will be perfect! Rather than give you a medal you don’t really want (and to help reduce waste) we’ll give you a Big Bear Tree Token. Not only will a tree be planted for each token given out but the token is also full of wildflower seeds for you to grow at home! \n\n\n\nIs there a cut-off?\n\n\n\nEffectively 2 hours. This is how long the medics are booked for. The hope is that cut-off shouldn’t exclude anyone from entering. Please do contact us if that is the case. We do have to be conscious of the sunset too!

SUMMARY:Squirrel Challenge 2025
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, January 24\, 2025\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nDaventry Country Park\, NN11 2JB Welton United Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nDaventry Country Park (NN11 2JB) is run and managed by West Northamptonshire Council. The What 3 Words location is here. \n\n\n\nParking costs between £2-8 depending on how long you stay. There is a cafe and toilet block on the route. \n\n\n\nThe County Park has a large car park\, cafe and children’s play area. It’s 20 minutes from M1 Junction 16. The closest train station is Long Buckby. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \n\n\n\nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runner to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30 having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events or to enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve had great success at events with canicross and we’re pleased to add this event too. You must keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll most likely start the canicross runners off with the main field depending on numbers. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe majority of the course is on relatively new crushed stone and so unless the weather has been awful it should be good running for the majority of the route (around 80% of the route). \n\n\n\nThe final route will be decided in the autumn due to new sections of country park being opened. The plan is to use these new sections. The course will be on pathways throughout\, however\, so although your trainers won’t be clean (it’s in January\, after all!)\, you won’t be thigh-high in the mud either! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nBefore 01/01/2025 £35 \n\n\n\nAfter 01/01/2025 £40 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.3-mile off-road loop means your race can be just over 5k or even over 80K and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you’re going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance you’ll need to complete 8 laps and a half marathon will be 4 laps. \n\n\n\n(NB. The course distance will be confirmed in the autumn along with the exact course as per the course description block) \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes. We’ve run at Daventry Country Park many times in the past. You can view previous results and the course records here. \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6 hour event?\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about!. \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands\, we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Earth Runs will be perfect! Rather than give you a medal you don’t really want (and to help reduce waste) we’ll give you a Big Bear Tree Token. Not only will a tree be planted for each token given out but the token is also full of wildflower seeds for you to grow at home! \n\n\n\nIs this event suitable for Rucking?\n\n\n\nDefinitely! Read all about how we do rucking here (or if you’ve no idea what rucking is find out here too!) \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nOnce the route is confirmed it will be here. \n\n\n\nThe route may be subject to last-minute changes\, and there will be plenty of markings up on race day\, so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app you can be directed around the route on your chosen day. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! Why not load your car boot with snacks and goodies\, get some mates to join you and have your own Big Bear event? \n\n\n\nI still have questions…\n\n\n\nThen why not join our Big Bear Events Facebook group and ask our ever-so-experienced runners in there or email us directly here? We want you to enter with the confidence you’ll have a great (if not tiring!) day so are happy to answer any question we’ve not covered off her

SUMMARY:The GRIM Original Challenge 2024
DESCRIPTION:ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN FOR BOTH DISTANCES! \nThe GRIM is one of the original muddy/trail/obstacle races with a history that dates back to 2003. After a COVID absence in 2020\, it bounced back strongly\, with more than 1000 runners taking part in the 2022 & 2023 events. It returns in 2024 in much the same format: the route takes you over Army vehicle testing ground in Aldershot with two distance options\, a main race 8-miler and a lighter version over a shorter 4-mile course. \nAlthough the GRIM is a tough trail race in which you will certainly find yourself at times cold\, wet and dirty\, it is not an obstacle race\, it’s a running event. We don’t build any ramps\, walls or swings on the course. All the obstacles are natural\, formed by tanks driving over the route or by incessant rain in the weeks leading up to the event. Of course\, at this stage\, we can’t guarantee the rain but it’s never let us down before! In a few places\, you will be crawling under cargo nets or wading through waist-high water. The distance may not sound daunting but don’t take this lightly\, on a cold December morning\, the GRIM is a challenge and you will think it is aptly named when you have run it. \nEntries close on 28th November at NOON. \nOur 2023 charity partner Combat Stress is back for 2024! If you wanT to make your run count\, select the check box when you enter and a member of the Combat Stress fundraising team will be in touch! \nCombat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century\, it has helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, anxiety and depression. Today it provides specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict\, focusing on those with complex mental health issues. \nThe work it does is life-changing and often life-saving. We are delighted to be working and supporting the work Combat Stress at the GRIM Challenge. The charity will have a number of runners raising money for its important work through the event\, if you would like to join them send  an e-mail to events@combatstress.org.uk \nFor more information about Combat Stress go to\, https://combatstress.org.uk
