SUMMARY:Xterra Malaysia 2017
DESCRIPTION:XTERRA Malaysia will be held in the beautiful island of Langkawi\, Kedah tentatively from 28th – 30th April 2017. \nIt’s not a new race though as it started life in Putrajaya just outside Kuala Lumpur in 2013 and moved to Langkawi in 2015. This island\, still unknown to many\, has a natural history dating back 550 million years and is now recognized as one of UNESCO’s 94 Geoparks in the world – o ering natural river estuaries meandering amongst mountainous formations and surrounded by untouched tropical rainforests. This reason alone has made Langkawi a natural choice to host XTERRA Malaysia and when you add to this its solid reputation as a cultural and duty-free shopping centre with many world class tourist resorts with all the ingredients for a perfect tropical race destination for the entire family. \nThe XTERRA Malaysia Race weekend is perfect for not just Triathletes who are looking for something different to race on rather than tedious tarmac\, as with a full range of trail-running races and kids races there is something to appeal to everyone in the family for a Naturally Adventurous get away. To know more about the race categories\, click here. \nLike other regional tours on the World Tour XTERRA Asia-Paci c Tour events have points awarded to professional and age group participants who participate in the series and these are doubled for racing in Malaysia as its finale race. This means that if you want the chance to be crowned as the Asia Pacific Tour Champion you really need to factor in Malaysia in to your racing calendar. \n  \nFun For The Entire Family! \n\n\n\nXTERRA Malaysia offers a diverse range of categories to suit all ages and fitness levels. Echoing one of XTERRA’s objectives that trail running is possible for all\, they have created a program called Couch to Trail that trains and prepares novices or never-tried-trail-run participants to run into fitness. Therefore\, the Race Director has designed race categories which are crafted in such a way that even little ones can participate in the adventure too! O -road races are far more adventurous and exciting compared to “boring bitumen” runs because it challenges participants to use all of their senses and gives them an all over body workout plus the trail itself offers hidden beauties of the natural landscaping and terrain which is certainly a reward that pleases the bodies sensors and senses. \n\n\n\n  \nEarly Bird Prices \nSPRINT Triathlon – Distance circa: 750m swim\, 16km cycle\, 5km run \n\n\n\nIndividual\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 298\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCHAMPIONSHIP Triathlon – Distance circa: 1.5km swim\, 30km cycle\, 10km run \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndividual\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 389\n\n\nRelay (2 or 3 member team)\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 809\n\n\n\n  \nTRAIL RUNS \n\n\n\nCategory\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\n\n\n5km Fun/Hike\nMYR 84\n\n\n11km Run\nMYR 147\n\n\n21km Run\nMYR 168\n\n\n\n  \nBUNDLE PACKAGES \n\n\n\nBundle\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 5km Trail Run\nMYR 420\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 11km Trail Run\nMYR 473\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 21km Trail Run\nMYR 494\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 5km Trail Run\nMYR 336\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 11km Trail Run\nMYR 389\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 21km Run\nMYR 410\n\n\n\n  \nRegular Prices \n\n\n\n\nPRINT Triathlon – Distance circa: 750m swim\, 16km cycle\, 5km run \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndividual\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 368\n\n\n\nCHAMPIONSHIP Triathlon – Distance circa: 1.5km swim\, 30km cycle\, 11km run \n\n\n\nIndividual\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 483\n\n\nRelay (2 or 3 member team)\nPrice\n\n\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\nMYR 935\n\n\n\n  \nTRAIL RUNS \n\n\n\nCategory\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\n\n\n5km Fun/Hike\nMYR 105\n\n\n11km Run\nMYR 168\n\n\n21km Run\nMYR 210\n\n\n\n  \nBUNDLE PACKAGES \n\n\n\nBundle\nInternational and Malaysian Based Athletes\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 5km Trail Run\nMYR 525\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 11km Trail Run\nMYR 578\n\n\nChampionship Triathlon + 21km Trail Run\nMYR 609\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 5km Trail Run\nMYR 420\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 11km Trail Run\nMYR 483\n\n\nSprint Triathlon + 21km Run\nMYR 515

SUMMARY:Blade Runner Ultra Marathon Series Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Ultra Marathon Series Trail Run\nThe Blade Runner Ultra Marathon is a 50km fully way-marked race set in the SAS Selection heartlands of the Brecon Beacon mountains. Staged in the deep winter and high summer months\, each edition of the race will visit iconic landmarks steeped in SAS folklore and following in the footsteps of a history of young men in search of something out of the ordinary. Forged on memories and nostalgia for our past endeavours and struggles as we pitted ourselves against one of the world’s great endurance challenges\, we could think of no finer culmination than to stage the finish at the iconic old red phone box via Pen y Fan summit\, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons range\, the outline of which is engraved onto the heart of every SAS man.For our DS team it was always far more than a challenge or test\, it was a pilgrimage and the adventure of a life time and we’re honoured and humbled to be able to share a small part of our past with those who take on the Blade Runner Ultra marathon challenge. \nAll runners who complete the course by passing through each RV point and making time cuts will be presented with a special cloth patch by one of our former SAS staff at the finish line. Category champion prizes will be provided by Paramo and our other sponsors as well as a framed route map featuring original SAS insignia. \nCATEGORIES\nThe Blade Runner Ultra Series will be a Clean Fatigue category only with no Load Bearing element. There will be Men’s and Ladies fields in the following age categories. \nROUTE INFORMATION & RV PROTOCOL\nThe Bladerunner route follows a sequence of forestry trails\, hill paths and old Roman roads\, negotiating 2200m of elevation gain over the 50 km course. Along the route you will pass through a series of DS manned rendezvous points where you will be required to log in to have your name and race number recorded and your suitability to continue assessed. RV points will be stocked with hot food and drinks\, with robust medical support and off-road vehicle rescue support. Owed to the very real risk of adverse weather conditions and the requirement to cover ground in darkness for at least two hours during the winter edition\, the opening part of the course will be illuminated with military grade cyalumes to provide enhanced route marking. \nThe Blade Runner route map is available for download and print on this page along with GPX files for your GPS device. \nBLADE RUNNER ULTRA START & FINISH\nThe de-serviced old red phone box has marked the start and finish points of the Fan Dance for nearly sixty years of SAS Selection. It has now become an iconic landmark steeped in the finest history and tradition of our Special Forces. The Blade Runner ultra-marathon will also launch from the very same location and be a welcome site at the end of the race. \nTHE BATTLE FOR JACOB’S LADDER\nThe legendary climb up Jacob’s Ladder is synonymous with SAS Selection and can be especially challenging to negotiate when covered in snow and ice. The rocky and step like upper reaches of this southern face of Pen y Fan is steep enough to require hand and foot placements to reach the summit. Jacob’s Ladder will be one of the most well-known and famous segments of the Blade Runner course\, rivalled by a number of other equally fearsome climbs you will have to negotiate. \nNIGHT RUNNING\nThe early part of the Winter Edition Blade Runner course will be run in darkness so head troches will be required. Head torches will be required unless the moon state is high with clear skies. Past editions of our Fan Dance night trail run have been blessed with strong ambient light conditions\, increased further by the snow on the ground so there’s always a chance absorbing the spectacular scenery by moonlight. \nBLADE RUNNER LEAGUE TABLES\nBlade Runner will have a league table for each category recording every edition of the race\, ranking each historical finisher in order of their finish time. The Fan Dance Race has a competitive Clean Fatigue/trail run race league table of its own which can be viewed to assess the competition: League Tables \nGENERAL EVENT INFORMATION \nBASE CAMP\nThe Storey Arms Outdoor centre will function as the event Base Camp\, administration area and Command Centre. Accommodation and meals are also available at the centre (winter edition only) with drying room access. The centre is located on the A470 at the foot on Pen y Fan mountain and the nearest towns are Brecon (North\, and Merthyr Tydfil (South)\, both within a 20 minute drive. \nKEY TIMINGS \nREGISTRATION\nOwed to the early race start time Blade Runner will stage two registration openings\, both to be staged at the event Base Camp. Race numbers issue and kit inspection will take place during the timing windows detailed below. \nSUMMER EDITION\nFriday: 18:30 -21:00\nRace Day: 05:00 – 05:45 \nWINTER EDITION\nFriday: 17:00 – 21:00\nRace Day 05:30 – 06:15 \nSTART TIMES\n06.00-06.30 \nCAR PARKING\nEvent car parking can be found opposite the Storey Arms Centre and Pont at Daf\, 500 metres south of Base Camp. SUMMARY:The Original Grim Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Grim Challenge 2022\nThe GRIM is one of the original muddy/trail/obstacle races with a history that dates back to 2003. After a COVID absence in 2020\, it bounced back strongly in 2021 with more than 1000 runners taking part in the event. It returns in 2022 in much the same format: the route takes you over Army vehicle testing ground in Aldershot with two distance options\, a main race 8-miler and a lighter version over a shorter 4-mile course. \nAlthough the GRIM is a tough trail race in which you will certainly find yourself at times cold\, wet and dirty\, it is not an obstacle race\, it’s a running event. We don’t build any ramps\, walls or swings on the course. All the obstacles are natural\, formed by tanks driving over the route or by incessant rain in the weeks leading up to the event. Of course\, at this stage\, we can’t guarantee the rain but it’s never let us down before! In a few places\, you will be crawling under cargo nets or wading though waist-high water. The distance may not sound daunting but don’t take this lightly\, on a cold December morning\, the GRIM is a challenge and you will think it aptly named when you have run it. \nWe also have a new charity partner… Combat Stress. \nCombat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century\, it has helped former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, anxiety and depression. Today it provides specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict\, focusing on those with complex mental health issues. \nThe work it does is life-changing and often life-saving. We are delighted to be working and supporting the work Combat Stress at the GRIM Challenge. The charity will have a number of runners raising money for its important work through the event\, if you would like to join them send an e-mail to events@combatstress.org.uk \nFor more information about Combat Stress go to\, https://combatstress.org.uk \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:TrailFest - Cannock Chase Forest - Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, June 22\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  8:30 PM\n\n\n\nCannock Chase Forest\, WS15 2UAEnglandUnited Kingdom\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nCannock Chase is in Staffordshire (WS15 2US). It is managed by Forestry England. \n\n\n\nCompetitor parking will be at the Tackeroo site (here on What 3 Words) and free. Spectators will need to park locally in the many car parks close to the start line. \n\n\n\nThe nearest train stations Rugeley Trent Valley and Rugeley Town are both approximately 2 miles away \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nNot at these events. As the event is run under a UK Athletics/ TRail Running Association license there are no dogs allowed at any of the events. It will also (hopefully!) be warm and as such unsuitable. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nIt’s pretty spectacular… and hilly! The route starts at the rifle range cadet hut and goes on a tour of fire roads and tighter single track routes around Cannock Chase. With no road crossings you can just put your head down and enjoy the amazing hills. \n\n\n\nEach route is tough. The half marathon consists of a 3 mile loop followed by 1x 10mile loop with over 1500ft of elevation. Punchy!! There are steep up and down hill sections on loose stones. It’s not scrambling and for experienced trail runners it’ll be nothing of great note. However\, for any “tarmac lovers” it might seem a little crazy! It is rewarding though\, I promise! The views are spectacular and the escapism is very real! \n\n\n\nThe route will be fully marked\, although having the route with you is very strongly advised. \n\n\n\nThe main elements of all the routes can be seen in the video. The forest is a living breathing habitat and as such things change\, species need to be protected and pathways rerouted sometimes. We will be based from the Tackeroo campsite and use the block of woodland opposite but this potentially could be changed if it is deemed necessary. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nHalf Marathon \n\n\n\nBefore 19/05/2024 £30 \n\n\n\nAfter 19/05/2024 £35 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries for ever! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I have a pacer?\n\n\n\nThe short answer is no. \n\n\n\nPacers are generally only involved in longer ultras or when you’re running through the night. If you’ve got a friend or loved one who runs or walks with you for 100m as they pass you a jaffa cake\, no big deal. Want to run across the finish with your 3 year old you’ve made wait all day for you? Not a problem (we aren’t horrid!). Want to run back 200m and help your mate get to the finish inside the cut off after you’ve completed your run? Hero. If your running buddy happens to turn up unannounced and runs with your for 10 minutes – that’s not ok. Pacing doesn’t have to be pre-planned to be against the rules and ethos. \n\n\n\nWe would hope everyone is sensible enough to understand what pacing is. It’s not just about setting a running pace but giving someone a motivational lift too. No pacing but please get family and friends to support you loudly and proudly! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan my friends and family spectate?\n\n\n\nYes please!! \n\n\n\nHaving friends and family add atmosphere to the day is brilliant not only for you but for others in the events too. All we ask is they respect the event\, don’t block pathways and stay clear of the immediate aid station and HQ areas. There are miles of route to be on so there is no need to be in those areas. \n\n\n\nIf you’re worried what they’ll be able to get up to while you run.. We’ll have a coffee van with us and if they drive 1 mile down the road to Birches Valley there is a large Forestry England visitor centre with Go – Ape\, Grounds Cafe and amazing cycling. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMy training hasn’t gone to plan and I want to withdraw\n\n\n\nIt happens. Injuries\, life events… forgetting you’ve booked it! You can see our specific withdrawl policy for the TrailFest events here. They are a little different to our other events but still much better than most other events companies. I think they are more than fair and as such they will be adhered to. \n\n\n\nAre there cut offs?\n\n\n\nSort of. \n\n\n\n11 1/2 hours for the half marathon. \n\n\n\nThat is roughly 53 minute miles\, 1.2mph. That is obviously massive but consider the course\, time of year and terrain. The cut off is there to ensure we’re off-site before dark. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm these details on emails sent out in the last 4 weeks before the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I change distance after I’ve entered?\n\n\n\nYes. If you want to enter a longer event you will need to pay the difference in entry fee\, if you want to do the 10K there will be no refund of the difference. If you let me know more than 3 weeks before the event you’re bib will be changed to the corresponding event too. However\, if the bibs have been ordered then you’ll have to run with the “wrong” colour bib on. \n\n\n\nYou cannot change distance once the event starts as the routes are different. You can change distance on the day but this must be before the event starts. \n\n\n\nIf you need to clarify this please contact me directly. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nSort of! We’ve held a 50k (and 50 mile) event at Cannock Chase Forest since 2021 along with many 6 hour challenge and 10K night events in the forest. This is the first time we are holding a half marathon event here however. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up to this event you can select to have no finish line swag and instead we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe gpx of the route can be found here or by clicking the map at the bottom of this page. \n\n\n\nThe route may have to be changed\, Cannock Chase Forest is an active forest after all\, but this will be communicated with as much notice as possible. Recces of routes is always advisable but there is zero expectation of this. The route will be FULLY marked. We are often applauded for our marking\, there will be lots of it. \n\n\n\nThe dream for myself as an organiser is you have the gpx on your watch/phone for emergencies but you never have to use it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is TrailFest?\n\n\n\nIt’s a day of moving around wonderful woodland for all abilities\, speeds and experiences. Whether you’re an experienced ultra runner keen to get an early season 50 miler in or a newbie trail runner looking to do their first 10K TrailFest is for you! \n\n\n\nWe’ve got 5 distances for you to chose from – 10K\, half marathon\, marathon\, 50k and 50 miles. Each distance has it’s own event page for the event specifics but most of the information applies to all of them and is listed here. \n\n\n\nThe idea of the day is to bring everyone together and to experience the fun of trail running in an amazing forest. Being around others doing what seems impossible can often make it seem a lot more possible too!! If you want to come and run your personal best or bimble about with your mates we’ve got the perfect distance for you.

SUMMARY:TrailFest - Cannock Chase Forest - Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, October 1\, 2024\n\n\n\n7:00 PM  9:00 PM\n\n\n\nCanncok Chase\, WS15 2UQ\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nBirches Valley Forest Centre at Cannock Chase\, Staffordshire\, WS15 2UQ. The What 3 Words location is here. It is managed by Forestry England. \n\n\n\nParking is £6 for 2 hours and £9 for 3 hours and functions on ANPR. You can pay by card or coin. \n\n\n\nWe are hopeful we’ll be able to secure an event parking rate at a much reduced rate. This will be confirmed closer to the event. \n\n\n\nThe nearest train stations Rugeley Trent Valley\, and Rugeley Town\, are both approximately 2 miles away \n\n\n\nIf you want to see what the venue is like watch the venue preview here. \n\n\n\nWon’t it be dark?\n\n\n\nWe hope so! You need a head or chest to torch to run in this event. No torch no run. \n\n\n\nOur friends from Petzl will be with us so you can test out the best head torches around on the night. If you’ve got a cheap headtorch from Amazon\, you’ll be able to tell the difference immediately. We’ll have more to announce on this closer to the event. \n\n\n\nWho are Petzl?\n\n\n\nPetzl are the industry leader in high quality head torches. We’re very lucky to be hosting some of their “Night Runner” events. We’ve got 1 at Cannock Chase Forest and 2 at Salcey Forest this winter. \n\n\n\nThere is a reason the top ultra runners in the world use their head torches\, when you need the trail lit up they are simply the best. When trail running at night you want to make sure youyr head torch wont let you down and your Petzl wont. \n\n\n\nThey’ll be at the event with their demo kit for you to try on before\, during or after the event. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve held many night time 10k’s with canicross and it’s been great success. We request that your dog be lit up (lights on it’s harness rather than wrapping the dog in Christmas lights!)\, you keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll start the canicross runners off a couple of minutes before the main field. Please read our general canicross rules here. \n\n\n\nWe’ll confirm the exact timings for this closer to the event but it is likely the canicross start time will be around 18:50. \n\n\n\nPlease make sure you enter the Canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather closer to the event. It is predominantly on crushed stone however\, with tree detritus the ground can become a bit slippy and mucky\, you’ll never be in ankle deep mud though. There are a few sections on more exposed grass paths\, trail shoes are advised. The route is fully marked and effectively a 2 lap course. Cannock Chase is hilly!

SUMMARY:Dormouse Challenge
DESCRIPTION:EVENT SUMMARY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, November 20\, 2024\n\n\n\n9:00 AM  3:00 PM\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HXUnited Kingdom (map)\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\nWhere Is It?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry England site with a café and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs (W3W). \n\n\n\nYou do have to pay to park (between £4-£6 at the time of writing).  That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! \n\n\n\nThe number 33 bus stops inside Salcey Forest (just after 9am) and goes between Northampton and Milton Keynes. \n\n\n\nIt is 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1. The closest train station is Northampton. \n\n\n\nWhat’s a 6-hour event?\n\n\n\nI’ve made a short video here to try to explain a little. \n\n\n\nIt is an event that enables all abilities of runners to run together (or hike/walk!). Ultimately you can run as many 5k laps as you wish in the time limit. You can run one lap in 20 minutes\, pick up your medal\, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively\, you can head out on your 15th lap at 14:55 and finish in 6:30\, having covered over 50 miles! It’s completely up to you. \n\n\n\nThere is no pressure from us\, but we’ll also see if you want one more lap! The format is great for people looking to run further than they’ve ever done before\, do a long training run for future events\, or enjoy a sociable event with your friends. \n\n\n\nCan I run with my dog?\n\n\n\nYes!! \n\n\n\nWe’ve had great success at events with canicross\, and we’re pleased to add this event too. You must keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll most likely start the canicross runners off with the main field depending on numbers. Please read our general canicross rules here. Please make sure you enter the canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nThe route is along well-maintained pathways. There isn’t a meter of asphalt and the pathways are mainly crushed stone or very well trodden open forest floor. Obviously\, being in the middle of a forest\, the narrower ones are covered in tree detritus and can become a bit muddy and grimy\, especially when wet. On a dry day road shoes will be perfectly acceptable\, on a wet day trail shoes may be a better bet as some parts can become a bit slippy. \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\n\nBefore 20/10/2024 £35\n\n\n\nAfter 20/10/2024 £40\n\n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\nYou decide! The 3.5-mile off-road loop means your race can be 5k or even over 80K and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you’re going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you’re looking to cover a marathon distance\, you’ll need to complete 7 laps (+ a little out and back)\, and a half marathon will be 3 laps (+ an out and back). \n\n\n\nWhat’s an Altra try-on event?\n\n\n\nOur friends at Altra will be coming along with a complete set of a few different models of their amazing foot-shaped shoes for you to try out on the trails! Simply take your size out for a lap or 3 and see what you think. \n\n\n\nI\, Paul\, am I a big fan of Altra and have been wearing them pretty much exclusivly since 2018. They are different (in a good way!)\, and so being able to go for an actual run on an actual trail is a great opportunity. The lapped format means if you don’t get on with them it’s just one lap of discomfort – not your whole event! \n\n\n\nNo catches\, no hard sell and no ruined event! We’re just trying to add something else to your day. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes. We’ve run at Salcey Forest many times in the past. You can view previous results and the course records here. \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal\, drink and flapjack.\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up for this event\, you can select to have no finish line swag\, and instead\, we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees\, who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here. \n\n\n\nIs there a gpx of the route?\n\n\n\nThe route gpx can be found here\, or visit plotaroute.com here. The route may be subject to last minute changes and there will be plenty of markings up on race day so you do not need to have this – but I know some of you like to anyway! \n\n\n\nI’m unsure what to expect at a 6-hour event.\n\n\n\nWe’ve made some videos to try and help newcomers understand Big Bear Events and 6 hour events a little more here. We’ve got lots of videos on our You Tube channel that might help you see what we’re all about! \n\n\n\nI really want to take part in the event but the day isn’t convenient for me! What can I do?\n\n\n\nWe’ve partnered with our friends at Skamper to offer On-demand events! It’s not quite the same as being there on the day but it’s the next best thing! Using the Skamper app\, you can be directed around the route on a day of your choosing. When you sign up we’ll send you the medal in the post that was given out on the day of the event. This way\, when you finish\, you’ll be able to claim the medal you’ve earned for the run straight away! Why not load your car boot with snacks and goodies\, get some mates to join you and have your own Big Bear event! \n\n\n\nFull details on our Big Bear On-Demand events are here. \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?\n\n\n\nOnce it’s in our hands we’ll share the design with you!

SUMMARY:Petzl Night Runner - Salcey Forest
DESCRIPTION:Event Summary:\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, March 7\, 2025\n\n\n\n7:00 PM  9:00 PM\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest\, NN7 2HX\n\n\n\n\nWhere is it?\n\n\n\nSalcey Forest is a Forestry Commission site with a cafe and toilets near Northampton. Use the post code NN7 2HX for Sat Navs. You do have to pay to park (£2 for the evening at the time of writing). That said\, be a hero and car share\, save money and the world! Can I run with my dog? Yes!! \n\n\n\nWe had canicross at our series last year and it was a great success. We request that your dog be lit up (lights on it’s harness rather than wrapping the dog in Christmas lights!)\, you keep your leads short and be considerate of the other runners. We’ll start the canicross runners off a couple of minutes before the main field. Please make sure you enter the Canicross race when you click on the enter button above. \n\n\n\nCourse description\n\n\n\nGround conditions will depend very much on the weather closer to the event. It is fundamentally on crushed stone however with tree detritus the ground can become a bit slippy and mucky. The route is fully marked and essentially a 2 lap course. Salcey Forest is fundamentally flat – but any sort of uphill on a 10k feels like a mountain! \n\n\n\nWhat does it cost?\n\n\n\nWe operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter\, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee! \n\n\n\nBefore 07/02/2025 £16 & After 07/02/2025 £21 \n\n\n\nUnaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Why not join your local running club or sign up the Big Bear Brigade and save 10% off entries forever! Enter all 3 parts of the series for only £43/£49 up until the first event at Cannock Chase Forest closes for entry. \n\n\n\nHow far is the race?\n\n\n\n10k! This might seem a bit pointless to mention given the name but this is different to a normal Big Bear Event. You’ll get the same love\, a medal and some goodies but you can’t run all night! \n\n\n\nI’ve heard you do cupless events?\n\n\n\nYes\, but not for this event. Unlike our other events we will have some biodegradable cups with water/electrolyte available on the course and we will have hot drinks available before and after too. If you have a foldable cup you can bring\, even better but we don’t insist on it for our short races. \n\n\n\nHas the event been run before?\n\n\n\nYes! We’ve won multiple Racecheck Gold Awards for these events and have over 150 reviews scoring us at 4.8 out of 5! Albeit under our previous name for these events. Different name\, same great event – you’ll love it! \n\n\n\nI’m not that fussed by a medal…\n\n\n\nIn that case our partnership with Earth Runs will be perfect! Rather than give you a medal you don’t really want (and to help reduce waste) we’ll give you a Big Bear Tree Token. Not only will a tree be planted for each token given out but the token is also full of wildflower seeds for you to grow at home!
