SUMMARY:The Antarctic Ice Marathon & Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Antarctic Ice Marathon & Half Marathon\nAdventure marathoners and ultra athletes are always looking for the next big challenge. It could be a remote desert marathon\, a high altitude mountain marathon or a jungle marathon. However\, mainland Antarctica represents the last frontier\, the final great wilderness to be conquered. And now adventure athletes like you can do it. \nOn 24th November 2017 the thirteenth Antarctic Ice Marathon ® races\, respectively\, will take place at 80 Degrees South\, just a few hundred miles from the South Pole at the foot of the Ellsworth Mountains. \nThis race presents a truly formidable and genuine Antarctic challenge with underfoot conditions comprising snow and ice throughout\, an average windchill temperature of -20C\, and the possibility of strong Katabatic winds to contend with. Furthermore\, the event takes place at an altitude of 700 metres. \nThe Antarctic Ice Marathon is the only marathon run in the interior of the Antarctic and is organised by Global Running Adventures\, the organisers of the annual North Pole Marathon ®\, Volcano Marathon ® and World Marathon Challenge ®. \nThe four-day 2017 itinerary will see competitors fly by private jet from Punta Arenas\, Chile\, on 23 November to the marathon location at Union Glacier\, Antarctica. A marked course of 42.2km (26.2 miles) will have been prepared in advance and snowmobile support\, aid stations and medical personnel will be at hand for the duration of the race. Competitors are scheduled to return to Punta Arenas on 26 November. \nThe Antarctic Ice Marathon is the southernmost marathon on earth and a unique opportunity to complete a marathon that is truly worthy of the seventh continent. You can join the exclusive 7 Continents Marathon Club by combining this race with marathons on each of the other six continents. Don’t expect to run your quickest time\, however\, as winds can blow from the Pole at a steady 10-25 knots. Also\, forget about penguins or crowds cheering you along the route – no penguins live this far south and you will have to rely upon yourself to push onward in the hushed\, indomitable surroundings. \nFor those who prefer a half-marathon option\, the Frozen Continent Half-Marathon will also be run on the day of the Marathon race. This half-marathon is your opportunity to cover 21km (13.1 miles) on the ‘white continent’ and finish the southernmost half marathon on the planet.

SUMMARY:Morocco Swim Trek 2017
DESCRIPTION:Morocco Swim Trek\nThe Morocco Swim Trek – Sahara Edition – is an international open-water swimming event for amateurs and professional swimmers. The event counts 4 heats of swimming\, each one different. \nThe second edition will take place in the lagoon of the city of Dakhla in Morocco\, from November\, 28th to December\, 4th of 2017. \nThis year\, this crazy and roving race totalizes a distance of 30 kilometers. Each day\, participants will have to swim a different distance over a different stretch of water\, from a new starting line. \nThe swimmers are free to wear wetsuits or not and may use goggles and swim caps. Participants may rub grease on their bodies (Vaseline\, lanoline or milking grease) in order to protect themselves from the cold and irritation due to the salt. There will be a different ranking for swimmers with wetsuit and swimmers without wetsuit. \nDuring the competition the swimmers will have to face the elements and will be confronted by natural forces: wind\, currents and tides. \nThis challenge differs from any other swimming pool contest. You win not only because you’re faster than another competitor but also and mainly by completing the course and surpassing your own own performance. \nDon’t forget that the real feat is to complete the course\, even if that means taking twice as time as another competitor. \nRegulations and aim of the competition: the swimmers will start at the same time and will complete the same course. This kind of event is organized on the basis of regulations\, mainly governed by the rules of the International Amateur Swimming Federation. \nThe course will mainly follow a straight line: the swimmers will depart from one point and arrive at another. \nMorocco Swim Trek\nDuring the longest heat\, they will keep close to the shore over the entire length of the course. The advantage of this kind of course is that it enables spectators to follow and encourage the swimmers throughout the heat. \nThe third heat called « The Pink Floyd Marathon » is on the most beautiful of the four heats. The swimmers will swim along the coast of Western Sahara for 10km.

SUMMARY:The Reggae Marathon\, Half Marathon & 10k Run
DESCRIPTION:Reggae Marathon\, Half Marathon & 10k Run\nThe Reggae Marathon & Half Marathon is Jamaica’s premier International Marathon Event. Marathoners\, sports enthusiasts as well as beginners\, converge in Negril\, Jamaica’s capital of casual\, for a fun event characterized by good vibes and lots of Reggae music. \nEnthusiastic supporters come out along the looped\, internationally certified course to support participants. Meanwhile\, hard working volunteers offer uniquely packaged water and re-hydration fluids at every mile. The pulsating Reggae music on course also keeps participants in an “irie” spirit\, as they burn the mileage. \nOther related Marathon events\, like the internationally rated gourmet Pasta Party and Registration & Expo\, have participants and supporters alike\, humming with activity. The Finish Line Beach Bash affords everyone an opportunity to relax on the beach with special offerings and entertainment geared towards having the best time. \nAll in all\, the Reggae Marathon Event is uniquely Jamaican with an international appeal. \nNote\n– Online registration closes midnight Tuesday\, November 28\, 2017. Mailed entries must be postmarked November 24\, 2017.\n– ENTRY FEES ARE NEITHER REFUNDABLE NOR TRANSFERABLE. THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION OR PACKET PICK-UP.\n– Register early to avoid the price increase on August 1\, 2017.\n– The minimum age for entry in the Marathon is 18 years old\, 14 years old for the Half Marathon\, and 10 years old for the 10K.\n– You may run\, walk or run/walk the Reggae Marathon\, Half Marathon or 10K. \nTo help you have the best experience possible on race day\, we need to make sure you understand our marathon course time limit and rules. \nSix Hour Time Limit\nAlthough Negril is a laid-back town\, you only have six hours to complete the Reggae Marathon double-loop course. A six-hour pace is 13:45 minutes-per-mile (8:32 per km). \nChoose the Right Event for Your Pace\nIf there is a chance you may struggle to maintain a 13:45 per-mile pace\, we strongly suggest you switch\, at no additional cost\, to the Reggae Half Marathon. You’ll have a lot more time to finish and still get an awesome medal at the finish line. The Half Marathon is the certified boomshot for power walkers. \nWhat Happens if You Fall Behind the Pace in the Full Marathon\nIf you are not able to maintain a 13:45 pace\, never mind. There’s still a good reason to feel alright! On this double loop course\, marathoners must complete the first loop or 13.1 miles by 8:15am (3 hours after the race start). The ‘Marathon Miggle’ is at the start and finish at Long Bay Beach Park. \nA marathoner\, who does not make the 8:15am time check\, will be guided into the finish chute\, awarded a Half Marathon medal and stepped down to the half marathon results\, rather than be disqualified. \nStep Down Before Race Day\nReggae Marathon encourages all runners to make their race changes before the race at the Registration booth located at the Couples Swept Away Sports Complex. Changes on Race Day or during the race are not accepted. \nA Few Other Things to Consider\nThere is NO early-start option. All three Reggae races begin at 5:15am sharp. Aid Stations and runner support services will be available only within the 6-hour course limit. The Norman Manley Boulevard is the only access for 6-miles of a resort coastline and our permit requires us to fully reopen the road at 11:15am for tourist\, resident and business access.

SUMMARY:Standard Chartered Singapore International Marathon\, Half Marathon\, 10k & Relay
DESCRIPTION:Singapore International Marathon\nThe race of the year is back! Join us at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2017 and run along 50\,000 runners. Kids Dash will take place on 2 December while the Marathon\, Half-Marathon and 10km will be on 3 December. There’s a category for everyone so hit that REGISTER button now! \nWith 4 different adults categories and the Kids Dash\, everyone can run at SCSM 2017! \nMarathon (42.195km)\n3 December 4.30AM – Orchard Road – A marathon is one of the most challenging physical activities one can choose to participate in\, providing extreme mental and physical challenges throughout the 42.195km. Overcoming these challenges and then completing the run makes it all worthwhile. Crossing the marathon finish line is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding personal experiences an athlete can enjoy. \nThe marathon is a considerable distance and should only be taken up by runners who are committed to several months of dedicated training. Individuals who are new to the sport of running may wish to start with a shorter distance and then move up to a marathon once confident they can safely complete the 42.195km. \nEkiden (42.195km)\n3 December 4.30AM – Orchard Road – The Ekiden\, a concept which originally began in Japan\, is a hugely popular running format. Teams of six runners bring their training and teamwork together to complete 42.195km. \nThe first participant of the team will begin the relay at the same start point and time as the Marathon participants. Each team member will run a section of the marathon\, passing the team sash to their next teammate at each of the five Ekiden points. \nHalf Marathon (21.1km)\n3 December 4.30AM – Orchard Road – The half marathon has a wider appeal than its Marathon older brother\, and is viewed as a more achievable feat by non-elite or serious runners. \nThe 21.1km still requires a serious level of training\, however\, and brings with it its own set of challenges. Many runners use the half marathon as a stepping stone towards the marathon but it’s a very testing run in its own right. Some of the world’s best long distance runners focus their careers on the half and are able to set some incredible average speeds in this category. The half is a perfect run for those looking to step up from the 10km and test the long distance discipline. \n10 KM / 10 KM Wheelchair\n3 December 7.15AM – Esplanade Bridge – The 10km is a category for runners of all abilities. The distance is perfect for beginners\, though once again it also requires a decent training commitment for those new to the sport. \nThe more serious runners view this category as almost a ‘sprint’\, with some incredible 10km times having been posted over the years. \nThis race category is also available for wheelchair bound participants to participate in with sports wheelchairs. \nKids Dash\n2 December 6PM – Orchard Road – As the name suggests\, the Kids Dash is a fun event for young runners aged up to 13. The race is designed to encourage kids to participate in a running event and take up the sport while they are young. Kids are encouraged to come out\, have fun\, and experience the festivities and be part of this momentous occasion. \nIt is non-competitive\, hence participants of this category will not be issued with timing chips. It is compulsory for a parent/guardian to accompany any child 6 years and below for safety purposes. Only one parent/guardian issued with an identification tag will be allowed to accompany any child 6 years & below. \nAnd for the third time\, The Kids Dash will be held as a standalone event on Saturday 2 December\, making it another weekend-long running fiesta on the first weekend of December.
