Way to T1 like no other\, through the narrow streets of Old Town!\nCycling by the picturesque Montenegrian coast with stunning views\nRunning along sea foam and Budva promenade\, with pure mediterian spirit.\nSpectator-friendly courses\, in all 3 sports\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Budva:\nBudva is a medieval city\, more than 2\,500 years old\, making it one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast. It’s located in the central part of the Montenegrin coast and it is the center of Montenegro tourism. The area surrounding Budva is called the Budva Riviera. Part of Budva Riviera are also Bečići\, Sveti Stefan and Petrovac\, smaller tourist towns. The towns of the Riviera boast cobbled streets\, medieval towers\, imposing battlements\, formidable city walls and charming terracotta rooftops mixed with the more contemporary restaurants\, bars and modern\, luxury\, up-market boutiques. \nBehind the hotels\, business- and residential buildings\, closer to the sea\, there are a multitude of hidden places nestling close to the villages. These places are blending in with the rocky hills\, which are covered in olive trees\, coniferous trees\, oaks\, hornbeam\, ash or other Mediterranean and continental trees and vegetation. \nThe Budva coast is 21 km long with 17 beaches. It is among the most beautiful coasts in the world and its beauty will not leave you indifferent. During the swimming segment\, athletes will -on one side- have views on the beautiful walls of the Old Town\, while on the other side their views will extend towards the blue open sea. During a big part of the swim\, you will swim close to the coast\, which makes the swim course really accessible for spectators. \nThe way to T1 is something really special. Athletes will go through the narrow and paved streets of Old Town\, where the transition area is located under the city walls. \nThe Montenegrin coast is considered one of the most beautiful coasts on the Adriatic. The two-laps bike course starts with the flat part of the course through Budva and Bečići. After passing these two cities\, the bike course will become more hilly. In this part of the course you will bike along the famous Sveti Stefan and Petrovac\, a fisherman village\, were you’ll have stunning views of the environment. \nThe final part of the race\, the two-laps run course- starts in the harbour and leads the athletes to Slovenska Beach. There you will enter one of the best parts of the run course: the pedestrian tunnel which connects Budva and Bečići. On the run you’ll pass all different things from small fishing boats and palm trees to a Mediterranean promenade. These are just some of the details that adorn this course. SUMMARY:Challenge Wanaka Aquabike
DESCRIPTION:The Aquabike race is back for 2020. Challenge yourself with a 3km swim and 120km bike. \n  \n\n\nSwim Leg – 3km\nView map \nThe swim course is set for Roy’s Bay in Lake Wanaka \nThe two-lap swim is in the sheltered part of Roy’s Bay in Lake Wanaka within easy view of spectators watching from the shore. The course has a beach start swimming in an anti-clockwise direction with a total of three turn buoys. \nLake Wanaka is the warmest lake in the Southern Lakes and is a popular choice for a large range of water sports each summer. The swim course is in crystal clear water so clean you can drink it. \n\n\n\n\nBike Leg – 120km \nView map \nThe 120km bike is over one lap and takes in two of the alpine lakes in the Southern Lakes region\, with an out and back leg to make up the distance. \nThe course heads out of town winding round the edge of Lake Wanaka towards Mt Aspiring National Park\, reaching the Hospital Flat turnaround point at 17km and heading back to the township. After passing through the main race area and crowds of spectators the course turns left alongside the lake and then up Aubrey Road into Albert Town. Turning left out of Albert Town you’ll then be taken on an undulating ride to Lake Hawea. After a ride along the Hawea lakefront the course heads to Hawea Flat followed by a short climb to the terraces and then a steep descent to the Clutha River.  Before reaching the Red Bridge\, a sharp left hand turn takes you out towards Tarras for 15km where a U-turn takes you back to the Red Bridge. After crossing the Red Bridge you will turn right at Luggate. Competitors will climb to Wanaka Airport and then left onto Mt Barker Road\, winding through beautiful countryside\, onto Riverbank Road and right at Orchard Road for the final 5km downhill and back to transition where you will rack your bike and run 100 metres to the finish. \n\n\n\n\nAid Stations\nAid stations on the bike course will be approximately 20km apart. These will have bike bottles with PURE electrolyte drink or water in them. Peak Fuel bars\, PURE Gels and bananas will also be available from aid stations at all times\, along with hydration from PURE. Coke is available on the final two aid stations. Please make sure you train on these products prior to the race so you know how they work for you – everyone is different. \n\n\n\n\nDrafting\nIf you are caught drafting you will be penalised and/or disqualified as per the Triathlon NZ regulations.
