SUMMARY:Southport Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:Southport Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlon attracts triathletes of all abilities\, from complete novices to elite competitors. Based at Waterside Lodge a modern\, purpose built two-storey Activity Centre on Southport Marine Lake\, it has become one of the biggest events in the North West\, reaching maximum capacity every year. \n  \nThe Sprint Distance event is 750m swim / 20k cycle / 5k run\, the Standard Distance is 1500m swim / 40k cycle / 10k run. We have all ability levels taking part\, but it’s not for the faint hearted. It’s a tough challenge\, but that’s what makes the event so popular and whilst the run is brutal\, it’s what makes is iconic. \nThis event is also the EPIC Club Championships\, your club can score points by having more competitors in the event and finishing higher up the ranks. SUMMARY:West Lancs Spring Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The West Lancs Triathlon takes place from Edge Hill University\, which provides the perfect venue. This is one of the most highly rated events for first timers in the North West. All abilities take part including some of the region’s elite competitors\, but the event has really made it’s name as the perfect first time challenge. \nThe 400m swim takes place in the brand new pool facility\, the 18.5k cycle is a flat\, 3 lap course and the 5k run takes in the trails around campus before finishing on the running track to the cheers of your family and other supporters. It’s always a great day and it always fills quickly! \nWhat do I need to enter the event? \n\nA roadworthy bike (mountain bikes and hybrids are acceptable) and recognised cycle helmet.\nYou must be medically sound and if you have any history of illness or injury\, consult your GP beforehand.\nYou must be 15 years of age in the event year. SUMMARY:Clitheroe Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:The Clitheroe Triathlon is a challenging course set in the Ribble Valley. It starts with a 400m pool swim\, but the real fun starts on the bike as the 30k ride is ‘lumpy’ and includes the climb up Birdy Brow\, onto Longridge Fell. The run is relatively flat compared the the bike ride\, it’s 8k out and back on road and should be enough to make you feel happy about reaching the finish line. We get a lot of novices taking part in this event\, but it is more challenging than some of our other sprint triathlon events. SUMMARY:Fire Fighters 2UP Duathlon\,
DESCRIPTION:The EPIC Fire Fighters ‘2UP’ Duathlon is a unique event which takes place in conjunction with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue. It’s known locally as the ‘start of season social race’ but there’s nothing particularly ‘social’ about the course! The format is simple\, you choose a friend or race partner and stick together throughout the run / bike / run. On the bike you are allowed to work as a pair\, by ‘drafting’ each other\, but not with other teams. The 4 miles trail run is a tough start and end to the race\, with a hilly 25 mile in between\, to make sure you finish with a grimace on your face. It’s a fantastic event\, an awesome atmosphere\, lots of team rivalries and smiles all round. DESCRIPTION:Eden Valley Epic Cycle Sportive\nThe Eden Valley Epic Cycle Sportive is a classic on the North West sportive calendar. Starting from Penrith Leisure centre\, the route is just short of 60 miles through the stunning Eden Valley.  \nIt’s undulating\, it’s beautiful\, but it’s not as severe as many Lake District routes\, although the final miles include a sting in the tail! One thing you’ll notice is the distinct lack of cars\, which makes it perfect cycling country.  \nIt’s one of our most popular events and a great opener for the season\, so make sure you’re on the start line! \nDISTANCES\n60 miles \nDate and Time\nSunday 7th October 2018\, 08:00am  \nWhat do I need to enter the event? \nA roadworthy bike (mountain bikes and hybrids are acceptable) and recognised cycle helmet.\nYou must be medically sound and if you have any history of illness or injury\, consult your GP beforehand.\nYou must be 16 years of age or over on the day of the event.  \nHow much to enter? \nThe Eden Valley Epic will cost £25. SUMMARY:Fireworks 500 Open Water Swimming Event
DESCRIPTION:Open Water Swimming Event\nExperience the clear water of Capernwray Dive centre at night. \nStarting with a rocket\, swimmers can race or leisurely complete one lap (500m) of the quarry. This should be long enough for you to experience the beauty of night swimming in the safe secure surroundings of the quarry. You will be issued with one glow stick one for your wetsuit / goggle strap.  \nThe safety canoeists will be well lit up and the buoys visible to guide you round the 500m circuit. Numbers and swim hats will be issued at registration (from 17:00 in the room above the cafe.) \nThe dive centre is a family friendly venue with great catering facilities so bring the family and enjoy the firework display together. \nWhat are the rules?\nThere are no ‘rules’ as such aside from age limitations and the requirement for all competitors to wear a swimming wetsuit (there are no exceptions to this rule\, swim wetsuits are compulsory). The age category limitations in place for the various distances are as follows:\nMinimum age 14 on the day \nWetsuits?\nWetsuits are compulsory for all swimmers. Shortie type wetsuits are allowed\, but because of lake temperatures full body cover is recommended. Neoprene hats may be worn\, and hand or foot cover may be worn as long as it does not aid propulsion (paddle gloves or fins). \nThe Finish?\nUpon completion you will receive your well earned glow in the dark medal. \nHow do I enter?\nThe cost of entry is:\n500m – £20\nIncluded in the entry fee is chip timing\, glow in the dark medal and free event photographs.
