The run course is only 3-4 wide in most sections and we ask runners to respect the space of other runners and give way to passing runners. The course rises slightly for 5km and then descends for 10km. \n\n\n\n

The event will be staged from Camp Shortland near the Nobbys Beach area on Newcastle Harbour and is one of the most picturesque courses in Australia. Take part as an individual or member of a 2-3 person relay team. We are also offering a new Junior/Schools Triathlon. The atmosphere is electric\, with spectators close to the action on the Foreshore of Newcastle Harbour. \n\n\n\nCORPORATE/ENTICER TRIATHLON\n\n\n\n\nSTART: 9:00am\n\n\n\nDISTANCE: 375m swim\, 10km cycle\, 2.5km run\n\n\n\n\nA short course triathlon for short course specialists or novice triathletes\, including businesses. The cycle leg is a 3 loop course from Foreshore Park to Newcastle Baths\, including part of Wharf Rd and Fort Drive. The cycle and run course is flat except for Fort Drive. \n\n\n\nWHO’S IT FOR?\n\n\n\nCompetitors 12+ years of age who can complete a short course triathlon. You must collect your registration kit 45min before your race start. \n\n\n\nCOURSE INFO GENERALNote Undercliff Winery and Moores Rd is private property and unavailable for general public rides outside the event. \n\n\n\nThe race compound and registration area will be on the grounds of the Wollombi Tavern. From there\, riders will marshal for their starts and head out the back gate and onto Yango Creek Rd. All courses start and end here\, with the finish being a right-hand turn into the grounds of the Tavern to the finish arch. The Wild Shorty course is out and back\, and the Wild 66 is a looped course\, with the Wild 32 looped and out and back. Please note there are no road closures on the main tracks\, and normal road rules apply when using the roadways. We do not expect much traffic\, and a traffic management plan will be in place. Please be aware the course has some very steep climbs and descents. The surface is mostly fire trails and gravel roads with various degrees of condition\, from ‘rough as guts’ to quite smooth. Note Undercliffe Winery and Moores Rd are private property and unavailable for general public rides outside the event. Have a look at the Wollombi Valley web page http://www.visitwollombi.com.au \n\n\n\nCAMPINGPLEASE CHECK WITH THE PUB BEFORE PLANNING TO CAMP. \n\n\n\nFree short-term camping is normally allowed on the grounds of the Wollombi Tavern. There are toilets but no showers. It is very close to the pub and race compound and a great spot to hang out the night before and after the race. Contact the pub to book some space on 4998 3261. \n\n\n\nNO BYO while the Tavern is open. Food and drinks are available seven days and nights. Please leave the area tidy. Dogs are allowed on a lead. \n\n\n\nPARKINGParking will be available on the southern side of the Tavern or along Great North Rd on the north side of Yango Creek Rd. This world-class facility will make for an exciting and interesting run experience. But don’t panic. We still have plenty of River in the River Run. \n \nYou can either run/walk the 1 Lap 4km course\, two-lap 8km course or three-lap 12km course. There is also a five-lap Half Marathon course and our classic 1609m (one mile) sprint event open to serious and novice runners.
