DESCRIPTION:Marathon Events in Norway 2018\nThe Oslo Marathon is an annual marathon that takes place between the end of September and the beginning of October. There are four distances; marathon\, half-marathon\, 10 and 3 km.The track goes along the seaside of Oslofjord. It is very flat\, and competitors in the marathon run it twice with start and finish at the Town Hall Square. \nThe distances one can participate in is 3 km\, 10 for Grete\, half marathon and marathon. Also\, there will be children’s activity day and Children’s marathon (500m)\, according to organizers.G-Sport requires that national sponsorships should be “People and parties” and that’s Danske Bank Oslo Marathon\, with participation increase of over 50% from last year – and aim that 25\,000 will be running this year! \nPRACTICALITIES\nAge Limit\nAll entrants for the marathon must be at least 18 years old. All entrants for the half marathon must be at least 16 years old. \nAid Stations\nThere will be food and drink stations placed along the run. Please see the map for placements. Shower and changing facilities will be located at Ruseløkkaskole on Løkkeveien. \nAward Medals\nAll participants that complete the BMW Oslo Marathon will receive a medal after the finish line. All class winners will receive prizes from our sponsors. \nEquipment Storage\nThere will be storage facilities by the start area. Due to safety concerns it will only be possible to hand in the participant bags each runner receives when they pick up their start number. Bag storage will be available at Rådhusplassen.Toilets will be available at Rådhusplassen\, the start area and by all drink stations. Give yourself extra time when the half marathon starts as queus are expected. \nMaximum Time\nFor the marathon\, you need to have passed half way by 3 hours in order not to be stopped and finish before 6 hours in order to get the race validated. For the half marathon the maximum race time 3\,5 hours. \nProvided Photo Service\nMarathon Photos is our official vendor of photos and diplomas during the event on Saturday. Smile to the photographer when you near the finish line and buy a memory for life on their website after the run. \nDIFFICULTY\nflat \nHIGHLIGHTS\nTaking runners along the seafront of Oslofjord and past beautiful sights such as the Akershus Fortress makes the Oslo Marathon a very scenic race. It also very flat\, offering the chance to achieve a PB. \nOVERVIEW\nThe marathon has four distances: full marathon\, half marathon\, 10km and 3km. The marathon and half marathon courses are the same\, marathon competitors run it twice.The race starts and finishes at the Akershus Fortress at Festningsplassen. The route passes Kirkegata\, Kongensgate and Vippetangen\, by Skippergata\, passing by the New Opera House\, along Havneveien then on to Sjursoya\, before runners have to turn at the WAG building. \nThe route then heads back. Runners go via the Opera house\, Karl Johan gate\, eventually on to the seaside of Radhusplassen (City Town Hall). From there\, they run along the pavement/cycle path leading to Framnesgate\, Drammensveien and on to Skoyen Train station and the footpath along the river Hoff.Returning along the cycle path the race leads under Bygdoy\, along to Frognerkilen\, past the Color Line ferries in Hjortnaeskaia eventually arriving at the seaside. Finally\, passing opposite the DFDS Seaways terminal runners reach the entrance of Akershus Fortress and the finish line.
