DESCRIPTION:GO TRI LOCAL – 50M SWIM\, 1.5K BIKE\, 650 RUN (OR LONGER)\n\n\n\nDate: January 3\, 2023\n\n\n\nLocation: Torbay Velopark\, Penwill Way\, Paignton\, TQ4 5JR\n\n\n\nGO TRI Local is ideal for people that are brand new to swimming\, biking and running and looking to take their first steps in a safe and enjoyable environment. Think of it as like Parkrun for Swim Bike Run. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part. \n\n\n\nGO TRI Local Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off-road course that suitable for all ages & abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. With the opportunities\, we have set out the minimum distances for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped\, so you can do as much or as little that want on the day. eg more experienced people can do a 150m swim\, a 7.5K bike (5 laps of the velopark) and a 2k run which is 3 laps of our run course \n\n\n\nFAMILIES ENCOURAGED\n\n\n\nChildren as young as 6 (provided they can swim 25m) can take part with a responsible adult taking part with them. To book children\, please read our FAQs further down this page first. \n\n\n\nYou start with a pool-based swim\, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth\, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. In the event of bad weather\, we may change the format to a duathlon or a reverse triathlon. \n\n\n\nWHAT YOU GET\n\n\n\n\nTraffic Free course\n\n\n\nFriendly safe environment\n\n\n\nFor children as young as 4 (with a responsible adult taking part with them)\n\n\n\nTiming & results provided\n\n\n\nNo upper age limit\n\n\n\nPublic liability insurance\n\n\n\nMarked course\n\n\n\nEntry is just £5 per person\n\n\n\n\nEVENT INFORMATION\n\n\n\n\nParking\n\n\n\n\nThere is plenty of parking in the Leisure Centre car park\, but you do need to pay for it! There is some free parking available starting a few hundred metres from the Leisure Centre. \n\n\n\n\nFAQS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo I need to be a good swimmer or biker\, or runner to take part? \n\nAbsolutely not. You can swim as little as 50m or as much as 200m. You can even stop for a breather if you need to & breaststroke\, front crawl\, and even doggy paddle are all fine. It’s just backstroke that isn’t permitted. Similarly\, on the bike leg\, you’ll find the smooth\, flat tarmac very easy to ride on. And the run is also flat with enough time to walk around if you prefer.\n\n\nHow do I book my children onto GO TRI Local? \nWe have to use the British Triathlon booking system for GO TRI Local. It doesn’t currently have a ‘basket’ system\, but you can book multiple people using the same email address and password. See GO TRI Booking FAQ for more details.\n\n\nIs GO TRI Local every month? \nYes\, they are on the first Saturday of every month (except for May 2022\, where we had to move it forward a week due to a clash with a swimming gala. In the winter months\, we will probably switch the format to a duathlon (run bike run)\, aquabike (swim/indoor bike)\, or aquathlon (swim/run). Here are the first 12 confirmed dates. DESCRIPTION:Haldon Night Trail Race 2022\nOur popular night trail race returns to Haldon Forest for 2022. There’s a single loop 10K course and a shorter 5K course. New for 2022 is a fancy dress category\, and there’ll be prizes for the best fancy dress. And there’s a team competition too! \nFor the children\, we offer a fun one-lap 1K race (3-7 yrs) or a two-lap 2K race for slightly older children aged 8-11. Routes are clearly marked with reflective poles & arrows.\nFor all kids races we are happy for adults to run with them for no additional charge. Follow the signs for Haldon Forest Park. The nearest postcode for sat nav is EX6 7XR but look out for the roadside banners directing you to the car park. The most accurate way to find our car park is using What3Words what3words.com/chuck.kicks.ruffling. \nAwards and Medals\nAll entries will get a finishers medal plus special podium medals & prizes. For the 10K race we also do awards for Vet 40\, Vet 50 & Vet 60 \nFor the kids races there are three categories: Under 8\, Ages 8-9 and Ages 10-11. \nFAQS\nWe recommend trail shoes for all our night runs. You should also wear a hi-viz top or vest so you can be seen on any road sections or crossings. Bring warm clothing to change into afterwards. And of course\, you’ll need a suitable head or chest torch. \nFor our night runs\, you need a suitable headtorch. Chest-mounted torches are also acceptable.

DESCRIPTION:Geopark Triathlon 2019\nThis event starts with a great sea swim in the warm waters of Goodrington Sands. Then it’s onto the bikes for a challenging loop around the Torbay area and finally a stunning out and back off-road coast run over towards Brixham. \nBe warned it’s a tough course. The first 6 miles of the bike course is rolling but then you hit Parliament Hill which averages 11 percent and another climb before the super-fast descent towards the finish (although if you’re doing the Standard Distance you have to do it all over again in your second lap).
