SUMMARY:The Greater Manchester Swim 2019
DESCRIPTION:Greater Manchester Swim 2019\nThe GREATER MANCHESTER SWIM! is perfect for people wanting to experience the brilliant sport of open water swimming. Held at our iconic MediaCityUK venue it’s one of the only venues in the UK where spectators are able to walk directly around the swim course and closely follow their swimmers to cheer them around. The friendly atmosphere and keen competition provides a great experience. Make a family day of it too and enjoy all the facilities that the booming MediaCityUK area has to offer! \nYou’ll be swimming on accurately measured courses within the superb water-quality tested Dock 9 (Lowry Theatre Dock) and supported by an excellent water safety team. Perfectomundo! \nTo ensure that you get speedy\, accurate swim times chip timing is provided with each swimmer needing to wear it on their ankle. Although there will a ‘deep water’ start you will need to climb up the finish ramp and pass through the finish arch / timing mat at the end of your swim to record your time.  \nMedals and goody bags will be provided to all participants with trophies posted to the top three adult (16+) female and male swimmers in the one and three mile distances. There will also a trophy for the top girl and boy (12-15 years) in the one mile race distance. \nNote that\, as the 500m is a ‘participation’ distance designed to provide a challenge to open water ‘newbies’\, there will be no trophies provided for this distance but medals and goody bags supplied only.  \nFurther information on the race course / important health and safety information will provided at the race briefing on Dockside 10 minutes prior to each swim. Timing chips and race caps will be distributed at race registration. \nLastly; There will be no posted race packs\, swim caps or timing chips. Information will be updated on this webpage and emailed out in the week prior to the event with timing chips and caps provided on the day. \nDistances\n500m\,1 mile\, 3 miles \nEvent Timing \nAll swimmers will be provided with race chip and swim cap at registration on the day. See final registration and swim start times below.\nRegistration opens for all swimmers at Dock 9 Uswim Tent (Lowry Dock) from 10.30-12.30pm.  \nSWIM START TIMES \nWAVE ONE  – 500m / 3 mile;  SWIM START 12noon (Briefing; 11.50am) \nWAVE TWO – Sub :30 min 1 mile;  SWIM START – 1.00pm (Briefing; 12.50pm) \nWAVE THREE – 30-40min 1 mile; SWIM START – 1.20pm ( Briefing; 1.10pm) \nWAVE FOUR – 40-50min & 50+ mins 1 mile;  SWIM START – 1.40pm (Briefing; 1.20pm) \nCUT OFF TIME (ALL SWIMMERS) 3.30pm  \nPrices \n500m: £20.00. 1 mile: £35.00 . 3 mile: £45.00  \n12-15yrs – 500m: £10.00. 1 mile: £15.00 \nEquipments \nSwim Caps / Timing Chips\nThese will be provided at registration on the day. \nWetsuits\nSuits are available for hire on the day at £10 with a £20 returnable deposit. SUMMARY:New Year's Day Charity Swim 2018
DESCRIPTION:Charity Swim 2018\nStart 2018 off in a totally cool way by leaping into the invigorating\, glacier-like waters of Salford Quays for Charity Swim. Swimmers can do a swift 150m lap of the Uswim iceberg course or stay in as long as they feel comfortable in water temps of approximately 5degrees C! \nCommemorative swim caps\, medals provided on the day. Funky Hat Competition. Look the part! Wear your funkiest\, funniest\, original creations. Prize for the best dressed. \nDue to the expected numbers we’re organising swimmers into three ‘waves’ 10 minutes apart with the first wave leaping in at 11.00am. Be there to register from 9.30-10.30am where all will become clear. The first and second waves will comprise of experienced cold water swimmers with newbies and the ever-so-slightly-nervous dippers in the third wave so we can keep an extra careful watch of y’all. \nSwim for charity\nAll swim entry fees will be going to a brilliant\, local children’s charity (to be confirmed) By swimming on the day you’ll be putting smiles on lots of faces (including your own!)
