Dubbo triathlon club president Jason Dearmer has labeled race three of the club’s Tri-Star race a resounding success, despite the stifling heat.
The event aims to develop junior talent through participation but the Aquathon is also open to senior athletes.
Competitors swim, ride and run a course at the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre and Victoria Park.
“The Tri-Stars program gives our juniors a fun environment to compete in and they learn valuable skills through participation. It’s also good for them to see older people having a go too, it’s a family event essentially,” he said.
“The committee takes the event very seriously because we are passionate about having juniors learning and competing. The Tri-Star is very popular, we swim in the pool which helps because some people aren’t comfortable swimming in the river.
