You’ll need to bring a head torch for this epic event in Woodbury. There’s something for the whole family with mixed and fun sections on the course and multiple races on offer. So lace up your running shoes and start the year right at the Battle of Woodbury Common 2021.

Route description
The flat and varied routes will take in the lovely surroundings of Woodbury Common and Bicton College. Although runners may encounter some mud, most of the courses will be run on well-drained, sandy soil, allowing runners to enjoy their running on flat and reliable surfaces. All the races will occur in the dark, creating a wonderful and unique experience for all competitors. The courses will all be well marked with poles, arrows and flashing lights.
Kids 1k and 2k
Both races will take part exclusively within the grounds of Bicton College.
5k
The 5k route is new for 2022, and although 3k of this race will take place on the tarmac, it is on tranquil country lanes where there will be little to no traffic. The race will be a combination of these on-road sections and a few grand and varied off-road areas.
10k
The 10k has the same start and finish as the 5k, with the extra distance coming from a complete loop of Woodbury Common, which includes a fun single track section. Running the circle of the Common in the dark will be a wonderful, immersive experience for everyone taking part.
Half Marathon
Runners taking on the Half Marathon will complete two loops of the great 10k course. Don’t worry about achieving the same loop twice; running in the dark will make it seem like the unfamiliar second time around.

Age Restrictions
All age restrictions apply to runners age on the day of the race.
1k For children between 3 and 7 years
2k For children between 8 and 11 years
5k Open to runners 12 years and older
10k Open to runners 15 years and older
Half Marathon Open to runners 17 years and older
Canicross
For the 10k and the Half Marathon, there is a Canicross category allowing you to run with your dog. If you wish to enter this, please select the canicross ticket when booking.
Kit
As the event will take place in the dark, all runners must compete with a head torch.
