The mission to find a destination that can cope with a long course triathlon and the lengthy impact on residents is not that easy. We are thankful to the many community stakeholders and residents in Pottsville and the surrounding area for welcoming the inaugural Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Enduro in 2015.
Located in the Tweed Shire, Pottsville Beach is a village in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, with a population of nearly 4,000. Bill Potts owned the first house in Pottsville around 1930 and the location was initially named Potts Point. Pottsville includes new and developing housing developments such as Koala Beach, Seabreeze and Black Rocks Estate.
The coastal town lies 25 minutes south of the Gold Coast Airport and is home to excellent beaches. The natural surrounding beauty of Pottsville is spectacular, with long, uninterrupted beaches set at the mouth of a Mooball Creek.
On the first and third Sundays of each month the town hosts the popular Pottsville Markets and is a hive of activity. There are animal rides for the children, arts and crafts to view, as well as plenty of food, music and local produce. A great way to enjoy a recovery day.
The Enduro was created in 2015 as a community sporting event that provided local triathletes a pathway past the Olympic distance. Designed to fulfill the athlete’s wishlist, the Enduro gives a personal approach and celebrates athlete accomplishment for many who are competing on the long course for the first time.
The Tweed Coast Enduro continues the proud tradition of fundraising for the Cabarita Surf Life Saving Club and Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre, and a number of other community groups including Tweed Raiders JRL, Pottsville Cricket Club, Murwillumbah Venturer Scouts, and Pottsville Men's Shed. Our goal this year is to raise $7000 for these local groups. Additionally we are seeking to employ $4500 in labour services directly from the Tweed.
The Enduro is clearly a Pottsville Beach unique event and highly sought after; and we look forward to working with everyone to deliver another first class destination, tourism activity.
Businesses are welcome to promote their services and community groups are invited to be part of the event delivery. We are always seeking local products for promotions and local tourism information to encourage families to return to the area.
